I have strange mixed feelings about this book. I loved it but I also had issues with part of the story. There are two books in this one book. The two main characters have a two brief exchanges and then go off to their separate ways. The resolution felt tacked on but it was written so well that it didn't feel tacky. This is a different type of mystery in that we are looking at the character development after a crime has been committed and what remains of our hearts in the shadow of tragedy. I wasn't as able to connect with Juli and felt her story dragged on until the resolution. Wyatt's story grabbed my attention more and I finished the story with a longing for more of his character in future books.
This mini-review feels like a stream of consciousness presentation so I should conclude with that I do recommend this book highly but I won't be surprised if you come up to me and discuss how frustrated you are with parts of the story.

A quick but powerful read. The story is told from multiple points-of-view but I was never confused when the POV changed. The writing is tight and strong. Ken Greenhall deserves more praise for his writing and I hope these reissues, as well as Grady Hendrix's support of Greenhall's work, elevates awareness of Greenhall to readers outside of the horror genre.
I got about a third into the audiobook and I stopped paying attention. The characters felt wooden and I couldn't connect with their story.
John Langan has a ridiculous amount of talent in his writing. He should be studied and admired by everyone.
There are moments in my life that I am in wonder of what humanity is capable of. I'm not talking about the goodness in our souls during tragedies. No, I'm talking about how horrifying humans can be during those same tragedies. The way that actions are justified while trying to survive. FantasticLand explores those concepts very well and you're left wondering what you would do in the same situation.
Half way through this book I had to put it down and walk away. This book gave me anxiety and I felt my skin itching to move away and never come back. I eventually finished the title but it was a JOURNEY.
A JOURNEY I TELL YOU!
Shoutout to the world of Interlibrary Loans for allowing me to read this tale of madness.

I struggled with this one. I liked the characters but it felt like they were merely going through the motions - Point A to Point B with their stiff dialogue moving the action. This isn't my first Beverly Jenkins, and I will seek out her other titles out of curiosity but I'm not rushing to finish the series at this time.
