I love discovering a book solely based on a friend's recommendation and not prepping myself by reading the synopsis and just jumping in. That happened with this book and I wasn't disappointed.

It's told from a single perspective without a lot of explanation and you as the reader have a lot to derive and understand what is being experienced through the lense of Klara's very particular experience and perspective. I enjoyed it a lot.

Taking place in London during WWII, this novel is about a strong young woman who doesn't always know what she wants nor how to get there, but is willing to try to do something about it and make an impact in whatever way she can along the way.

Loved this book. A unique story with beautiful characters. So many undertones of societal messages to observe and reflect upon. Add it to your list

Continuing to dive into the world of Charlie, with lots of big twists and discoveries. Book 9 will be interesting

I liked the beginning and the ending, the middle got weird and a bit boring, but I'm glad I stuck with it. A unique story with a twist on immortality and time travel-ish themes.

One of the things I love about historical fiction is that it can teach you about a time period or historical events that you'd only read a few paragraph about previously. This book did that for me.

The book centers around the early 1960s in Florida and Cuba - the rise in power of Fidel Castro, the Bay of Pigs, and the assassination of JFK.

I'm also a sucker for a strong female lead who bucks societal norms, paves her own path, but still gets to have some romance too. I loved the lead character, Beatrice.

A solid volume of the Mercy Thompson saga. This one was immediately engaging and I finished it in just a day or so. Definitely read the other novels first to get the whole effect

Cute, easy beach read. Loved the strong south Asian family and culture that centered this book
