Book Two certainly exploded with "IDGAF about the world, I'll follow you even to afterlife, ends of time does not exist, only you" era for both Caldris and Estrella
Second installment to Flesh and Bone Series, this is the continuation of how Estrella came to accept Caldris as her Fae mate and more (twists introduced)
Made me happy to go along the storyline as more cast is introduced. Unlike other series, the introduction of new people was done subtly and personality was given to each.
Like Lord of the Rings, Two Towers (first series that popped in my head), the second book talks about the travels of the Faes and their Marked back to the land of the Faes. Here we also discerned the backstory of what might look like the ultimate villain of the series - Queen of the Shadow and Darkness. Also saw multiple instances of claiming of both MC and FMC with each other after chapters of struggle from the FMC'S side
The ending is what truly made me excited for book three. Can't wait!

I have so many questions and for 181 pages, I just went through ππΆπ€¨π«£π³π€―π€¨ππ¬π€― If these emojis are any indication of the roller coaster, then yeah π
For a first book on a series, the plot is still a little bit chaotic, although the I'd reckon and hope it will be more cohesive on the next few books (saw the blurb for the second book, excited to see what happens next)
Concept of magic and introduction of elementals - which I assume is influenced by mythology based on the use of Greek (and Roman) gods and goddesses names; is quite interesting. Although, how it was encapsulated by the FMC had some hints of YA-esque writing. Since this was just a short book, the descriptives and punchlines of possessing each element wasn't delivered quite well.
FMC, hmmm I am still debating how I feel about her and all the cast introduced on the book. There were few peaks here and there but not subliminal to be called a development as of yet. Found the banters quite amusing for good and bad reasons.
Let's see what Book Two brings us, hopefully some arcs and answers.

Two words: Holy Sh*T!
I am antsy for book two. I mean, this is a plot where I kinda predicted the who's who right within 50% of reading it but the shock value nonetheless was there and it was chilling and freaking awesome at the same time!!!

Took me quite few days to finish this as I had to pause and tamp down my annoyance at some point.
1. Premise is really awesome. Setting is like this middle ages village-esque where we meet Miraden hopelessly in love with Ceycha but can the relationship went down the drain cause the latter denied him to keep her sister Kyra who also likes Miraden, from getting hurt. You have to take note that these three grew up as kids and is on their teens when the book started.
2. Twist: Devil walkers called Ashenkins (which reminds me of Orcs from LOTR) kidnapped Kyra along with other kids in the village for some still unexplained reason - about their origin, purpose etc.
3. Twist: Miraden, hoping to heroically redeem himself in the eyes of Ceycha volunteered to quest for the rescue of Kyra so on he goes for a Hobbit x Lord of the Rings adventure where he met his Gandalf, a she mage called Simigrin and his Sam, a cleric called Lovo. Badabing badaboom - fought with monsters etc. All the while, Ceycha knew about this because she recieved letters from Miraden describing his tales
4. Miraden and Simigrin kissed (gasp). Kyra was rescued. New peak introduced at the latter part of the book pre empting the second book installment premise. The end.
5. Love the premise and the writing style. Looked and sounded cohesive.. it just dragged a little bit for me. Had to skip few parts
6. Really got annoyed with how Ceycha treated poor Miraden - this guy freaking foraged, hunted, performed chores, heroically fought monsters just to get her approval as a potential husband

This has to be one of the most hilarious yet full of underlying taboo themes I read so far!
Magic x LGBTQIA+ combination can never go wrong. I truly enjoyed reading the POVs of the MCs. Despite the fact that they are teenagers, their character development was awesome- meaning, not your typical teenage brattiness and angst (well, except for that one time, lol)
This is a soft romance book set in a high school where the students belongs to generations of magical wielders of different kinds. The peaks were subtle but actually pretty awesome.
I just wished the plot was more solidified up until the end BUT i still enjoyed reading this immensely!

Human or vampire, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always β always β guard your heart.
It has been quite some time since I last read a combination of bloodfest, dark magic, gore and notions of romance rolled into one book. Think of blooddier Hunger Games kind of trials, political machinations of ACOTAR and darker version of Kingdom of Blood and Ash.
1. Oraya and her humanity has been one of the centerpoints of why she did what she did. It was also a stronghold reason for her recognized father, the Nightborn Vampire King, to train her not only how to kill but to consider it as a weakness
2. Raihn and his mildly shocking history on how he was turned as a vampire had to be one of the best peaks of the story, well that plus the twists that followed after that revelation
3. The twisted lustre of the vampire world and their deities is intricately written. The word building was kinda slow burn but its worth holding on to every word
Conceptually, it really had some awesome ideas and I just went by the pages in less than a day. I devoured this beautifully and I don't regret the book hangover that came along with it

Initially, I thought this is just a straight up gay rep book set in the 1800s France, well it was until the plot progressed and then there's the twist of supernatural involved and concept of polyamory too. While all of these are interesting turn of events, I just wished there was more if it.
1. Considering the age group of the cast (MCs are between 17 to 19 years old), the volatile emotional aspect is definitely there. I mean, can't really sustain my annoyance when I think about Emile forgiving Henri right away and then feeling bad for Bram the next. Typical representation of a teenage emotional dilemma
2. The supernatural mystery added a positive effect on the overall story. Though some attributes were predictable it still was a pleasant experience to see families reunited
3. Twists weren't really prevalent all throughout. I read more descriptives of what they wore and where they were as compared to the actions done. The ending for me was a bit rushed and the catharsis I was waiting for wasn't met all the way.
Overall, it was a nice read.

So I have been contemplating how I feel about this book. I only do this when I am trying to recall my disposition from an author whose other works I read before. I Crossfire Series has been her best work that I read so far and it has been yeara since she released a new book.. this one. And I am mildly disappointed yet intrigued at the same time.
1. Like the Crossfire Series, the opulence and wealth influenced the plot massively. It is one of the central themes
2. MC has a brooding and calculative persona while FMC is bold, decisive and mysterious - lethal combination for a couple, one might say
3. Multiple POVs, which made me more involved. Felt like an audience intruding on their thoughts and I like it thus far
My biggest problem: It's so slow. Slow to to the point that had to force myself to be involved so I can get to that damn ending and find out the why's
𫦠Why did the FMC left 6 years ago just a week after their wedding?
𫦠How does the FMC know all about power play? What exactly did her mother teach her?
𫦠Why am I reading through a POV of someone not relevant to the story? Is this a trick? Do I need to remember this for part two or something?
...and a whole lot more, honestly. The twist was what intrigued me but I guess it has to be done that way to give way for book two. Hopefully the duet is more crafted sensibly than this one

This series follows a girl whose touch has the ability to kill others. She is imprisoned for murder in the first book but is suddenly released in order to be weaponized for the coming war. Eventually, she meets others who are similar to her and learns about a group of rebels.
ππ€π€π π§ππ«πππ¬
I am at loss how to review this book. This was released back in 2011 and I am only reading this a decade later plus I have been seeing this on various platforms across the years, so safe to say the expectation was really high. I do not necessarily detest this but I am coasting right now.
1. The writing style sounds juvenile. Marketed as a YA plus this is an earlier work of the author, I understand why the wording and transitions weren't there yet.
2. Plot. I have so many questions mostly about the origin of their superpowers, what happened to the world as we know it etc., then again this is just the first book so...
3. Characters. Where is the Aaron Warner the internet has been buzzing about?? This Aaron Warner is just an emotional manipulative psycho. And why does Adam and Juliette feel the need to hump each other every five minutes? π I hope the development gets better on the next books
4. Transitions. I like that Juliette wasn't overly adaptable when thrusted into the outside world, made it more relatable
Overall, I am just feeling meh all throughout but I am still going to give this series a chance. If Unravel Me is just the same, might push this back further my reading list.
