This was pretty entertaining (and super easy) read. Batman is dead (Don't worry guys it's only for a year.) and now the fight for his cowl is on. Actually, it's just Jason being a asshole and trying to take the mantel from all the other robins. So let's talk what works and what doesn't.
What I liked: The art is pretty solid. Action is smooth and no complaints on that end. I like that all the robins are dealing with the death of their father figure (or father) in this book in different ways. I also liked Dick coming to terms of what the Legacy was meant for and what he had to do. A protector of all just like his father, even if he didn't want to, he is needed. I also liked Jason being a psycho fucking idiot and trying to kill everyone and play mind games. He's def a sick fuck in this.
What I didn't like: The backstory of the villains uprising didn't really do anything for me. I also disliked Damien's character in this. Weak the whole time is not who Damien is. I also really didn't like the extra two stories thrown in at the end. Felt out of place.
Overall this was a entertaining and fun read. It's not great. It doesn't REALLY need to be read. However it's kind of fun and get to see the Robins figure shit out with big old Bruce being gone. So for that I had fun.

I read this years back in High School. Then I saw the movie (which I enjoyed) and decided to try this again 10+ years later. Did it hold up? Mostly yes. I feel about the same as I did then.
What I liked: Loved the idea of this. A more realistic world filled with Superheroes. That's always been something I enjoyed of this series and think it let way in series like Kickass and such. I also liked how the story was told between different points of views. Gives insight into everyone's lives before and after. Giving a complete story. I also liked the ending and the "twist" was well thought out (though I actually enjoyed the movie version of the ending more. Felt more heartfelt and painful). Overall I enjoyed most of the dialog and thought process of this story and believe it still holds up.
What I didn't like: Alan Moore is a bit of a...how can I say this nicely? A cunt? Yeah that sums it up. He is a grumpy person and sometimes he thinks too highly of himself, and that condencing nature effects some of his work in here. Some of it sounds like he's crawled TOO far up his ass. It's annoying. I also felt the pacing is disjointed in here and some chapters filled with boring filler that could have been cut shorter.
I still believe Watchmen is very important. I think it has ideas that a lot of stories nowdays use and it changed things. I do think it's a bit too long and stretched out overall but very much worth your time. A 3.5-4/5.

I love Gantz. It's one of my fave animes of all time. I took a lot of inspirations from it when I began writing. So when Oku said he would be doing another Manga I jumped on it right away. Did we get another masterpiece? Or least as entertaining as Gantz? Not really but alot of interesting ideas.
What I liked: Ichiro (the main character) is treated like shit by his family. His daughter thinks he's a loser. His wife makes fun of his age/look. His son is embarrassed of him. It's awful and you actually feel for the old man. I also love the pacing. You get to really get a look inside of his life but also get to the main plot quickly once a alien ship of somesort lands on top of the old man and another young man. When Ichiro awakens he notices he's not all that human anymore. Being able to transform to a robot, which is pretty badass. You see him, the old man use his powers for good, and it's awesome.
What I didn't like: Some of the art can be iffy. Almost feels like the characters are out of place. I also think the last chapter is a little cheesy. Alot of throwback to Gantz, and it feels like the author is just feeding his own ego. We get it, Gantz is fun and awesome, but dissing your critics is a little sad. I didn't like that. And it felt pointless with these new kids and the ending was easy to see coming.
I'm still eager to get deeper in. While not as good as Gantz start it still is very exciting. Hopefully it gets even better. A 3.5/5.

Okay this is more like it. The first volume was solid but this is far better. We get deeper into both stories. Inuyashiki story continues as he tries to find a purpose to his powers. Hiro, the young man you saw at the end of the last volume also explores his own path with his own powers. Two very different paths and that's what it boils down to. What would YOU do?
What I liked: The dark nature this volume had was very interesting. The last volume focused on the good, hopefulness of it all. This focused on the destructive and emptiness of human nature. Hiro is both scary and extremely dangerous. His way of using his power is pure evil and the part when is trying to convince his friend to come back to school, and then murders an entire family for nothing. For NO reason. And his sick nature of him toying with the poor girl was fucked up. The ending gives you some hope but you can see how dark this story is about to get.
What I didn't like: The scene with murder I can handle yet the one moment when a child is killed is really...just hard to watch. I get what it shows but fuck that was really disgusting for the sake of it. I guess I just don't like to see kids murdered.
It's really getting good though. The contrast of the two main characters is what's going to keep me buying these. If they keep it up I can really enjoy this one quite a lot.

Holy fucking shit I thought this Manga ended at like volume 12 or 13. This is triple the length of that. So I only read up to 12 when I was a teenager. Time to get back in to it! So Gantz starts off with death (and boobs.) Kei is the main character and his old buddy from back in the day decides to save a bum on a train track. Kei is like "man you dumb as fuck" but then decides to help his bud out. Then they try to outrun a train and BAM they dead. They end up in a room and are told to go out and kill these "targets'. This is how Gantz begins!
What I like: I love Kei. He's a piece of shit, only thinks of himself, and a dick but he's so fun. His lines are great and his "who gives fuck" way of life is fun. I also enjoy most character designs. Everyone has their own look that really sets them apart. I love the weapons in this, very unique. Pacing is near perfect always keeping it fun yet disturbing at parts. I also really enjoyed the interaction with the other characters. Oh and BOOBS! =D
What I didn't like: The dog licking a vagina I could have done without. Just saying. Always seemed weird...

Batman: The Dark Knight, Volume 2: Cycle of Violence
Vicente Cifuentes, Mico Suayan, Sonia Oback, Gregg Hurwitz, Dezi Sienty, Carlos M. Mangual, Juan José Ryp, Pat Brosseau, Richard Friend, Rob Leigh, David Finch
You know what? This was a nice surprise. I really dug this far more than I thought I would. It's between a 3.5-4 but I went with a 4 rating for the surprise alone. I skipped volume 1 after hearing how horrid it was. So I went into Volume 2 which focuses on Scarecrow doing his scarecrow thing, which is to scare the living shit out of you. This time he's kidnapped a kid and is testing his fear toxins, trying to make her into what he was the same way his father did to him. Batman is on him like a dog on a piece of a meat! Except...not. Because the Scarecrows get Batman stuck in his trap! DUM DUM DUM!
What I liked: The art was pretty solid throughout. I really loved the Scarecrow designed. He seemed scary despite his scrawny and disgusting appearance. I thought that fit well. I also liked the flashbacks in this as they helped build the contrast between Bruce and Scarecrow. The moments with Damien are small but are actually really well done. This one also kept me on the edge of my seat. I mean I knew Batman would win but a few times he gets wrecked and that was exciting.
What I didn't like: The Gorden side story didn't really do much for me. I get it lead into deeper story but I didn't like it much. Also Batman's internal thoughts just seemed to cut short. I actually liked that at the start.
Overall I really had a lot of fun reading this. I read it pretty quickly because I was engrossed the entire time. I liked the art, thought pacing was perfect (after issue 11) and Batman relationship with various people was a nice touch. Oh and this is the best Scarecrow I've seen. A 4 out of 5.

This volume finishes up the first major mission for Gantz and the crew. After they mercilessly murdered a child alien the father of that alien is here and he's ready to wreck havoc. He goes on a rampage and these group of Gantz warriors begins to get murdered. The end result answers a few questions of what happens at the end of the game but not all of it, the questions still linger, yet this is very very exciting issue with intense moments.
What I liked: Loved the fights in this. Kei using his suit for the first time is a blast. Watching the weirdo middle grade kid fight too is both scary and fun since he knows so much more. You also get a wonderful moment where you see the father Alien speak and it's almost heartbreaking because they make these aliens sympathetic instead of just killing machines without any emotions. Also you get a lot more tits. Oh and Gantz is funny as fuck when he speaks.
What I didn't like: The tits and ass is wonderful but it seems excessive. Maybe cause older now and can see it's more fanflare than anything and I don't even mind it when they're running away or whatever but to have a cover with sweat dripping off chins and tits just hanging out of the suit, it's little too "fan service" for me.
Overall though Gantz keeps ramping up and questions keep building and it keeps it highly entertaining with a lot of different characters. I think it gets even better as it goes on from what I remember, let's find out!

Batgirl, Vol. 2: Knightfall Descends
Vicente Cifuentes, Ardian Syaf, Gail Simone, Ed Benes, Alitha Martinez
Well I enjoyed this volume a lot more than the last. It still had some issues but overall it finally found it's groove. Batgirl this time around is faced with the Knightfall! A dangerous group ready to take the lives of the villains, and heroes if they get in the way. Can the hot red head badass batgirl save the day? Well duh, of course she can!
What I liked: The zero issue was great. Seeing backstory of barb is always good. I also really enjoyed her inner dialog. It was a lot of fun, reminded me of a female version of Spider-man. I also loved the art. Very easy to follow and good action. I thought the ending was great too and builds on tension very well.
What I didn't like: The Villains. They seemed just meh. I wanted to care more about them. Fear them. I just didn't. Which is a shame. Babs needs a good villain.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Big Time - The Complete Collection, Vol. 3
Dan Slott, Mark Waid, Christopher Yost
Big Time is starting to feel like most of Brand New Day. What's that mean for me? A lot of small spider-man stories with one or two sticking and the rest so forgettable you wonder what you just read. Big Time has a Daredevil Crossover (Which already read), A Two parter trying to save the future. A Johnny Storm + Spider-man team up. And then the big bang, Sinister Six is back! What worked? What didn't? Let's break it down.
What I liked: The cross over was good but read it in Daredevil. Felt odd placed here. Still, enjoyable story. I also thought the two parter about trying to fix the future was fun (a little dumb) but fun. I also really enjoyed Johnny and Pete's chemistry even if the story itself involving them was just okay at best.
What I didn't like: The whole second half is just...overstuffed silliness. Sinister six have defeated THE AVENGERS? WUT? Lol just no. Also the story is just overblown and felt overely long. We knew SPidy would figure a way. The stakes were never high. And the end result of him being mad at himself was dumb. This "No One Dies" seems SO...many steps back for this character IMO. Also the art is sometimes great other times really odd (Why do all the women have size E tits?)
Overall Big Time is starting to wear thin. I'm trying to get through it to get to Superior and finally give the "best Dan Slott" run a chance. However, big time is tendering towards the boring side in this last arc. Hope the 4th collection is better. A 2.5/5

This was my first Gerard Way comic. I'm about to pick up Doom Patrol so wanted to give this a whirl. With spunky art, a way out there yet interesting story, is Umbrella Academy worth checking out? Yes. However, it's not without it's flaws.
What I liked: The art was alive and fun. The world itself was interesting. The action is top notch and can be brutal as fuck. I enjoyed the interaction between most character and the world building they do with dialog alone. It's not easy. I also enjoyed the themes of family and betrayal and it's done pretty well here.
What I didn't like: The pacing felt a bit too fast. A mini-series only has so many issues but 5 issues felt short for the story being told. 8 would have been perfect. Also sometimes the characters just act rash, or yell, and for no reason. Maybe due to not getting enough backstory on certain characters I felt confused at these moments.
Overall I enjoyed this, a fun quick read with a interesting world. I hope that the rest of Way's work is as fun and enjoyable as this.
