This was...pretty great! I read Rebirth Aquaman before this and thought it was decent. I was actually excited to check this out because kept hearing this is one of the better Aquaman runs (John's part anyway). So this is kind of a good jumping on point. Gives you enough to catch up but also for long time fans they will enjoy a lot of the background hints and such. So let's get to it!
What I liked: The art is fantastic. Very sleek and easy to follow. Love the redesigns of a lot of the characters (mara is hottttt) and also the dweelers or whatever are fucking scary. The story is fast paced, giving some great character moments, mixed in with scary as fuck villains. I loved watching everyone shit on Aquaman and only a little kid could see how badass the dude really is when you piss him off. Also loved the relationship with Mara, very very good.
What I didn't like: THe last two issues slow down and aren't as excited as the other four. Also Mara chapter was little off. I dunno, something about it seemed weird or off balanced.
I overall really dug this. I now want to read the next few volumes hoping it keeps up the same goodness of the first!

Cross overs can be really bad. Hardly do we get good ones. I usually believe "events" aren't very good (Infinite Crisis/Civil War ect...) but every once in awhile we get some good stuff. Flashpoint decides to make it grand yet small. Where there's stakes but it focuses only on a few characters like Thomas Wayne (Batman) and Cyborg, and of course our main lead Barry (The Flash). Barry has screwed up and now he needs to fix it, so is this event worth checking out? Yep!
What I liked: The art is very solid. It has a lot of dower moments but filled with hope (mostly cause of flash) also this is pretty bloody. This is def a interesting outlook on the DC world. The story is also pretty solid. Flash is a great main lead here (and deserves it) as he is always the MOST hopeful of all the heroes. Watching him get the spotlight was fun. Thomas Wayne is great as Batman. A radically different Batman yet still holds true to his style. I also gotta say the final issue is outstanding and hits a lot of emotions that the series needed before jumping into New52.
What I didn't like: You miss a lot of backstory. I would have liked another 100 pages to get the emotional connection of characters like Superman, Wonder Women, Aquaman and so on. I know can collect the others but it should have been included here in the big style version of this book.
Overall this is very much worth reading. You can read it without any real past knowledge. Also giving the flash the spotlight (even though he's to blame actually haha) is nice. I'ma go with a 3.5-4/5.

Gantz is a interesting series throughout. Volume 3 is probably one of the weaker volumes yet it still contains some awesome moments. Kei and crew made it and they're trying to adjust to normal life again. It's not easy and nothing seems right but they try their best. That's when Kei's crush wants to live with him as a...pet! You guessed. Welcome to Japan. Also a new game is about to begin at the end that starts to really get this series going again.
What I liked: Kei is a dumbass. He is rude, he thinks of only fucking, and he's kind of a asshole. However, this is the Kei of the start. The selfish prick. I love watching him slowly grow into something new. You see the start but just that so far. I also really enjoyed the last few chapters. It really ramps up and the stakes feel high when someone is murdered and someone is missing their main weapon. Also the art is still top notch.
What I didn't like: Kei is really pathetic here. Also the street thug part was kind of dumb. I also think this series has too much fan service tits. Like so much tits even I'm like "Come on now" and I love tits!
Gantz is a fun series. A bit dumb at times, bit too much fan service, but it's HIGHLY entertaining and the growth of Kei is still coming (Calm down guys I promise). So I can't wait to keep reading!

Another amazing title by Brain K. Vaughan. I believe this man will always be my favorite comic book writer of all time. He just puts SO much detail and great dialog into every single story he does. Even his weaker works (paper girl/We stand guard) aren't horrible they're just decent. Everything else he touches is pure gold (Saga, Runaways, Pride, THIS) SO let's discuss why this works so well.
What I liked: First, the art. It's simple, yet so different. So many unique costumes, so many different faces, and I love how it has this futuristic look but not so far out that we can't relate on some level. P.I. is an amazing character filled with a good sense of morals but at the same time the supporting cast is equally as strong. Love the grandfather as a character who is from our time talking about missing the internet. That comes to my next point, the actual plot. Not having internet is such a ODD concept to US nowdays but it's so fun to see how the world would work without it. Still horrible things happened, and they do put up a good argument for both sides. However I feel it's up to the reader how they want to view it but I like being presented with two different view points clashing.
What I didn't like: The reading style is comic web based so sometimes it was hard for me to get comfortable reading. That's my only negative. Lol.
Overall Private Eye is worth reading. No, screw that. It's worth buying RIGHT NOW. Brain K. Vaughan continues to give us stories that EVERYONE, comic fans and non-comic fans alike will enjoy reading. I recommend this at full price, a 5/5, and can't believe I waited this long to read this insanely good book.

Batman and Robin, Volume 3: Death of the Family
Patrick Gleason, Mick Gray, Scott Snyder, Peter J. Tomasi, Jonathan Glapion, Greg Capullo
Man this series remains one of the best New52 comics that I completely missed years ago. So this volume ties in with Death of the Family, which is one of my favorite Batman arcs ever. So I was excited to get Damien's story on it. We also get a two part arc at the start of Damien setting up little reminders for his father so his dad has to go on a hunt. It's cute, adorable, and real father and son loving. The last issue deals with the fallout of death of the family and you get to see Bruce/Damien/Alfred deal with their nightmares.
What I liked: The start of this volume is great. Really gets you to like Damien. I then love when Joker meets Damien and they go head to head. They've done this before in Batman and Robin in Morrison run and it was great but here it's even better. Damien has to face his fear and fight his father jokerized. I really like the Death of the Family issue in here. If you haven't read death of the family arc in Main batman line I'd recommend reading that first.
What I didn't like: The last issue felt little weak in comparison. The nightmares seemed to be a little forced, not very compelling, not huge insight into the character that I expected.
Overall I loved the HELL out of this volume as I did the previous ones. I really hope this series continuing being as good as it is. I expect it will be due to Peter being the writer. He never lets me down.

Batgirl, Vol. 3: Death of the Family
Admira Wijaya, Vicente Cifuentes, Julius M. Gopez, Gail Simone, Scott Snyder, Ray Fawkes, Jonathan Glapion, Mark Irwin, Juan Albarran, Marc Deering, Ed Benes, Rob Hunter, Greg Capullo, Daniel Sampere
I thought this was the best volume of the entire series. This is Babs dealing head on with her past. This volume contains cute little side story and the later half mostly around James. You know James...not me James. No the piece of shit brother of Barb. This sick fuck lovesssss to fuck with his family. So he takes no mercy on them. However, the part I liked more was Joker event. If you don't know by now Barb was shot by the piece of shit and paralyzed. Now he's back, she's back walking, and she faces him one on one...kind of...but guess what? he doesn't want to fight! He wants to get married...wUT!?
What I liked: Everything to do with the Joker. Not because of him, even though he is entertaining. It's because Batgirl had to deal with a lot internally to get through this one. I loved watching her struggle and figure out how to do it. The cute little love story with Ricky was nice as well. I also like James. He's sick, he's twisted, and he's family. Giving a bit more stakes to it than just a random weirdo which is nice.
What I didn't like: I felt like the James storyline got wrapped up too quickly. Another 3 or 4 issues to flush out why he's so scary would have been better. His reasoning seems a little weak to for what he does.
Overall this volume really made me a Batgirl fan. I really enjoyed her story arc here and knowing that the last volume is Gail's last makes me a tad bit sad. Hope it ends well!

I thought this was decent. Kind of like the first volume but a little less balanced. This time we have Rhody on a mission for Tony in Japan. Shit goes bad, magical samurai women attack, Tony asks Peter Parker for help, and off we go on a new adventure.
What I liked: Peter and Tony together is great. Hearing snarky comments back and forth is always a pleasure in my opinion. I also thought the moments with Rhody were pretty cool and watching him handle himself without the Warmachine armor was good. He is a badass and people forget that. I also thought the art was pretty solid throughout. I also liked Riri.
What I didn't like: Sometimes the faces are hard to tell who is who. I also didn't like the MJ and Tony dialog, felt forced. Also the Rhody and Tony love bromance felt forced as well because of what's about to happen with Civil War. Also the "villain" was quickly forgotten after I finished this volume. Oh and as much as I like Riri and Doom I feel like a lot of time was spent setting up their own comics in here.
Around a 2.5 but I'll bump it to a 3 just because I didn't find anything offensively bad. I still don't like Tony much but I don't mind him with a good supporting cast.

Jessica Jones is back! The original team is on board! Woot woot! This has to be amazing right? Well it's been years, and Bendis has written many many MANY comics over the years. Some not loved by the comic community (X-men in particular) but I've always been a fan of most of his work. Even at his worst I still say he's decent. However I read Alias last year and LOVED it so I decided to give this a try? Results? mixed!
What I liked: Love the original's artwork returning. Loved the fact they want mature rating, and didn't feel the need to have as many curses. I love being inside Jessica's head again and her panels of interrogation and such were great. I also was intrigued with the storyline of Luke Cage.
What I didn't like: Why can't we stick to smaller cases. Why is this BIG case Jones has to do. She's a detective yet we're making her have cases that can change the world completely? I wish they went way smaller case. Also they try to build mystery behind why Jones is fighting with Luke but it feels a bit forced IMO.
Overall I enjoyed the return of Jessica Jones. I do love her as a character. I like the stories she usually does. I hope next one we have smaller cases but have a feeling they're going to go even BIGGER and I dunno how I feel about that. Still, this was fun, and I'm going stick with a 3 out of 5. A solid return but not a great one.

Short on time. So I might expand my review later. Loved the art in here, easily my favorite part. The story was solid, if a little safe. The dialog could be overbearing at times with a little too much exposition. However Diana is well written and such a fun character to grow with. Well worth a read if you're a Wonder Woman fan!
Nightwing has always been a character I enjoyed. He reminded me of a more serious Peter Parker, and Peter is my favorite hero of all time. So I never really read much of his solo adventure. I did read Black Mirror, in which Nightwing becomes Batman after Bruce died, and LOVED it. Then I jumped on Grayson and did NOT like it much at all. So saw that they were releasing Nightwing comics in a big format and it goes back to the 90's (maybe 80's?) and I said "Why not!" and grabbed this title. Was it worth it? Let's find out.
What I liked: I love dick. No...you dirty minds out there. I'm talking about Dick Grayson! He's fun, he's serious when needs be, his fighting style is similar to Batman but so very different. I also love his interaction with people because he goes along with whomever he's with. I really dug the storyline here. The first arc is based on Nightwing's younger days and his parents killers. This story is pretty good but the art is pretty bad. The second arc has better art and a interesting "mystery" bad guy taking over. It's actually more about Bludhaven and it's terribleness that makes this story different. Also Robin and Nightwing teamup <3
What I didn't like: The story can be a bit messy. Sometimes a little too hard to follow. Also everyone is like super evil in Bludhaven to the point of comedic. Oh and the fight scenes can be REALLY hard to follow sometimes. Also that haircut in the first 5 issues is a no-no. Just a big fat NO NO!
Overall this was a lot of fun. It really lands between a 3 and a 3.5. It's a little uneven and feels like it's finding it's ground. I think future volumes will capture that. So off I go to order more volumes.
