Really solid opening. Setting up what I assume is Jed final moon Knight work and so far we're on track for a good time.
An okay romance comedy. I do appreciate they're adults and just low key everyday life but nothing made me laugh super loud, or feel an emotional connection, was just okay. Art is fine. Overall fine....
Zodiack meets his end in an okay issue but the second half felt weaker than the start. Still looks great though.
I can see why this book would work for many. The story has multiple layers, it has a strong message about looking around and see what life is for. It has a cool background, and FOOD. But for me, I just couldn't fully invest myself into any of the characters. They just lost me there since I didn't really care much what happen to anyone and a lot does happen, including being eaten. But overall this was decent for me, and probably great to the majority!
Get a lot more background on Talia. She has some really great moments and a background that really helps fully realize her character. I also like how Johnny feels like a proper hero in this. The villains are decent but nothing amazing. Overall a fun time, 3.5 out of 5.
New Review: Well time changes everything, huh? I really dug this on re-read almost 10 years later. I loved the hell out of the characters, and maybe it's because I'm a father now, and also the main girl is named Sailor which makes me want to protect her even more (My daughter is named Sailor!) So it's great stuff. I really enjoyed almost all of it, the only thing that stays the same is sometimes the art is REALLY hard to tell what's happening, especially second half. But still, what a awesome Halloween book! Upgrading to 4 stars!

Old Review: I guess I never got to reviewing this title...odd. Anyway, everyone knows I love horror stuff.
I was raised on Friday the 13th and Nightmare. I love slashers, but I love darker, more twisted scary stuff even more.
Babadook is the best horror piece of art in the last ten years.
So is Wytches even in the same sentence? At moments, yes, overall? No.
I for one had a love/hate with the art. Sometimes I thought it looked insane. Like so damn good, especially some of the designs of the Wytches and the atmosphere. Other times looked like a muggy mess of colors and weird shapes that just hurt my eyes.
The story sometimes was captivating, like the start. Then lost me by the end and I hardly cared what happened to even the main character. Which is a shame cause she's super interesting at the start.
It just had a lot of back and forth for me. The idea of these crazy Wytches coming and stealing away a child is awesome, but I couldn't help but get bored at points and dislike the art a lot at moments. So for now it rest at a 3 out of 5.
P.S. - Still <3 you Snyder.

Buddy read with James (Mumford not myself)
I read these as they were coming out. I will say it reads even better this way.
My main issue originally was the answers felt like they took forever to get issue by issue or even volume by volume. And to an extent it's still here. This is a slow burn. And around issue 12 or 13 there's a two issue background that helps flush out the world but slows down the big progression on the two main leads.
But besides that this is a blast. Great characters from the priest, to Daniel, to Claire. Everyone sounds real which is Lemire's strong suit. Sorrentino does some of his best work ever getting both creepy and bizarre panels which I love. The reveal of this demon entity trying to escape makes sense and the ending leaves off on a great cliffhanger.
A great Halloween reread. A 4 out of 4.

Bit weaker than volume 2. Still some fun ones, but I thought the second half was overall way weaker. I didn't connect to the last 4-5 stories sadly...I think these are fun enough though that they take a all of 2 to 4 minutes of reading each story. So no big loss if in the mood for some sweet short horror stories.
Gonna review this entire absolute but this issue is one of the greatest single issues ever. The thought of burying your old self but meaning burying a part of you, is so wonderfully done here.
