The Amazing Spider-Man: Big Time - The Complete Collection, Vol. 2
Dan Slott, Christos Gage, Todd Dezago
Big time for Spider-man!
Yeah...I had nothing witty to say after that. Like most of Spider-man's lines.
Ugh Dan isn't a bad writer. Honestly he gets wayyyyy too much shit thrown at him. I think he's pretty creative at times. I also love his villains, they're nasty and usually have reason to be so. I also dig the art in run, I just enjoy the over the top cartoon look. It reminds me of the 90's but in all the right and positive ways.
Now the bad. Dan can't write Spider-man funny. I really just don't laugh at all with his spider-man. He's just not FUNNY. Like I want a Peter Parker to make me laugh. This Peter just comes off as such a big loser. Peter isn't that, he's anything but that. He has some bad luck, but not like this. This is a grown ass man (my age I believe) and he's still kiddie as shit, especially in relationships. I hate the relationships in here, they seem so forced and fake.
Anyway most of this book is Spider-island. Which is very fun, and also very stupid. So if you want some fun times with Spider-man, it's not bad. Decent fun times but I just keep hoping for more.

Man oh man, it's hard to find someone to root for in this series.
Everyone seems like a dick. Everyone who is "good" has some evil plotting behind them. The glimpses into the past, about Mikey growing up, is real interesting. I also still love the art, I think it's solid as hell.
However the story feels all over the place. One second they're heading out to hunt. Next they're near a small town. The brothers together feel "okay" I never feel the real love of brothers there. The parents, which were great in the last volume, are barely here now.
It's a fun entertaining read but everytime I finish I can't help but feel "man this could be amazing" but I'll probably check out volume 3 regardless.

Well damn, Waid sure as hell stepped up his game on the second half of his run. I really dug the last volume and I liked this one even more.
We get to see a bit more of Matt's past, and that's never a bad thing. I loved both issues of him dealing with his mother and rescuing her. I also loved the last panel as it was very sad yet touching yet filled with hope.
I LOVED purple man's grand appearance and the twist on the kids he was using. It was some freaky shit and watching Matt break down piece by piece again is both heartbreaking and intriguing. The last panel again for this arc was touching and wonderful.
I enjoyed the opening, see the future of Matt, but it felt very rushed with his son. It would be cool to explore that future, flesh it out, but as it stands it just came off as "okay" at best. Still, it was a nice opening and change of pace.
If Waid's run continues to stay this good I'd say he earned his spot as "Good" Daredevil writers. Keep it up!

Well this wins the funnest comic of the year. Like I was dead laughing while reading this sometimes.
The story is simple. The two criminals in this story are also cops. Done a million times, right? Well never this fucking funny. I mean between the Boss in this comic, the director, and the main character I couldn't stop laughing at some parts. Especially the goddamn "I think I ate my own cum" yeah...no...it sounds gross but it had me rolling.
The only thing that kind of got to me was the main story seems not to go anywhere. If it wasn't for the amazingly funny dialog and situations I'd be saying this is a pointless story. Thankfully though this shit will CRACK YOU UP. So go read this bitch right now.

Uhhh holy shit I loved this.
Okay so Conner has been taking over for Green Arrow. Who's that? That be his son guys! COME ON! But now he's back. Ollie is here, yet he's like his old self. Even before his 80's renewed self of darker more deadlier type. So the lighthearted fun man is stuck in the late 90's world. We get a story of many people coming together including a poor 15 year old girl being used as a whore, Conner's son, and Canary. It's great to see the reaction of the Justice League finding out Ollie is alive once more.
The heaven bit was cheese, but I did love the fact he got to interact with Barry (This is before Barry was brought back) and Hal and such. Very cool.
Overall, without giving much away, this is a very enjoyable read. The more you know of the DC universe, the more fun it is. I really loved it, and have to say this is easily the best comic I've read from Kevin Smith. Go check it out!

Well Jupiter's Legacy you are not. I ordered part 2, so it might change my mind. However, let us discuss volume 1.
This is the past. So if you read Legacy you'll see the old original team from those books shown in full color here. You got the gay guy who's trying to hide his identity, the super sayian Superman father from Legacy and mother. You have his evil piece of shit brother. You also have the best friend, who becomes bad, or does he?
See I wanted to love this but didn't. Because Cliche hit it like a ton of fucking bricks. Like I've seen all these stories done a million times (and sometimes better) and it hurts the overall story because it's not done particularity well. Executed okay, but not all that well entertained. As you can see I don't remember anyone's name lol.
Also the art is a little tame. It grew on me but it's not even close to the original.
Overall I'd say it's worth reading to the backstory of these characters but I have to say, I'm a tad upset it wasn't more engaging. Especially coming from Legacy which is damn fantastic.

Levi is here and he's ready to rip your face off.
If you want to get to know Levi, this is your story. You like the brooding, goodlooking, slash your pal from the original series? Wanna know how he became a badass Corp Slayer? Well shit, look no further, here's all you need.
I find it interesting it went down the lamer path. I wanted to go deeper into Levi's upbringing instead of giving us a look into the day or two before he joins the corps. He's already cocky, annoyed all the time, perm bitch face set in. However, I do love his two pals, so least they're enjoyable.
I like to see the inner workings of the whole council and how much of a piece of shit they are. There's not much titan slaying here. Actually even the death count is low. So if you're expecting mass deaths not here (save that for part 2...probably...I could only imagine some of these people dying soon)
It's enjoyable little side story. Eager to read part 2. It didn't get me over excited but a solid backstory none the less. A 3/5!

So it's official, Waid's second half of his run is great stuff (unlike that first half, so jumbled of good, meh, and shit)
In this volume we get plenty of Daredevil in shitty positions. The first arc was okay. Stunt master is back and it's a kind of screwed up ending, but it's a fun little story none the less.
The next arcs are better. I freaking love Kristien. I hope she never leaves. Which this is Matt's life, so it could only mean terrible things. I hope I'm wrong. She's badass, funny, and looks cool. It would be a shame but this is Matt's tragic life.
Matt ditching his suit for just a regular black and red suit is interesting...like he don't give a shit no more. I thought it was clever (though obviously I'm partial to his real suit) but it's none the less a cool change.
And ending on a nice big cliffhanger with you know who returning brings a lot of excitement for the final volume. I'm ready, bring it on!

And so comes the end of Waid's run. I really enjoyed volume 1-3, and 4 is also great (at parts) and a very solid send off to the character.
I think the negatives here would be the big fight, or the huge event, wasn't as amazing as I hoped. With Kingpin showing up on the final pages of the last volume I expected some crazy shit to go down. I was also disappointed with the final fight, just didn't leave a impact. No "OMG" moment. The fight from before in Volume 5 of Waid's run was far better.
However let's talk the good. There were plenty of great "moments". I loved seeing a whole wall dedicated to Matt's death. I also love that moment at the dinner table. Nerve wracking to say the least. Also the ending with Foggy giving his big speech to Matt, perfect. Overall some wonderful moments and the art is still great.
So thanks Waid for a very solid second half. Yes, it was bumpy, and not as good as Ed or Bendis but still very strong. I give the whole run around a 3 or even a 3.5, so for Daredevil fans, go check this one out. On to Soule next!

I know a lot of people don't like Koontz, no clue why, I always enjoyed his stuff. Even his weaker stuff I had some enjoyment. So I picked up one of his most loved books and I have a lot of positives to say about it.
I don't like giving a description of things. Because you can see that on Amazon or Goodreads. I like to get into the good and bad. So real fast the basic idea is Travis, our main character, stumbles on a dog who is extremely smart. We're talking human level smart. However "The other" a creature of evil is hunting the dog. This starts a pretty interesting thriller.
I loved Einstein (he's the dog) he's both lovable and brave and awesome and I want one so bad...I already have 3 dogs, so that says a lot. I also enjoyed Travis and Nora, both well made character who stay interesting throughout. Travis is especially nice to see, a broken character, fix himself. Nora similar. I really enjoyed Lem too, who's the detective from the FBI put on to this case. His story is solid and you get to see the bigger scope and background to Einstein.
The negative really comes down to Vince. He's the assassin of this story. He's hired by the Russians to murder the people who worked on the project with Einstein and "The Other" and it's just not all that interesting. Yes a cold blooded killer could be fun to read. He is not, and he's flat, and yeah...he takes up maybe 15-20 percent, but that's a good portion.
The book is a fast, easy, fun read. I had a great time listening (It was audio book) and def recommend this one. It's the third best book I've read from Dean and worth your time if you like thrillers.
