Holy hell this manga was calling to me. It said
"Hey, James buddy, you like Game of Thrones right?"
Me: Yeah.
Mysterious Manga Voice: Well try this. It's like Game of Thrones meets Vinland, Meets Berserk.
Me: Oh HELL YEAH!
And we step in to a depressing, fucked up, morally corrupt book that I loved from start to finish.
This book is broken up into 3 parts. All related to the famous Wolfsmund fort gate. The rebellion army is trying to break through by sending scouts over to the other side to get important information delivered. Of course Wolfsmund isn't a nice person and he basically kills anyone who tries to escape or make it.
This isn't for the faint of heart. The heroes don't have their "plot device" shield. No, basically anyone and everyone can die, and in fucked up ways. Also there's boobs. So if you can't handle boobs, go away.
Oh and the art is just stunning. Truly gives me the Berserk/Vinland vibe, and that's all GOOD news.
Go check this out. Not for the faint of heart but if you want dark, depressing, and wonderfully drawn manga, you gotta get this.

Another great volume. You really get into the meet of the characters here which I really enjoyed. Kenji is one of the best main characters. Scared when it feels right, brave when it feels needed, it just don't feel "forced" and still gives you emotional moments and you've only just started knowing these characters.
I love the whole flash forward, flash back, current storyline going on. It gives real stakes and you wonder what in the world is happening. Kenji is at the center of it all and watching him coup with Donkey's death and learning more and more about these organization labeled "friends" is both thrilling and interesting.
The final few pages really draw you in and you feel the need to swoop up the next volume...which I did...and the other 3 volumes after. Yep, this is gonna be a long one, but a goodie!

Well...this was fun. Yeah, that's a good way to put it.
Do you want a fun Tony that you got from Iron-man 1-3? Here it is. You even get some good interaction with him doubting himself, or scared, and to me that's always the most interesting side of Tony. Also, Doctor Doom is creepy as fuck in here. Oh and the "Bearded Bro" moments got me. I did have fun reading most of this tbh, and if you like Tony at all I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. The main plot is silly, dumb, but it works to give our characters some great interactions. The last issue was a letdown to the first arc but I'll keep checking this one out.

Sadly not as good as the OVA. I think I just enjoyed the story more in that.
We get a lot of extra padding here. Secrets upon secrets, that really don't feel heartfelt. I guess I just couldn't get attached to the plot they were trying to pull off here. I get it was trying to go for a deeper story but didn't measure up.
Saying that the fights are still entertaining and the deaths are as fucked up as you expect. It was especially sad to see a certain person get killed. You knew it was coming if you read or watched AoT but man oh man, it was screwed up for sure.
Overall a decent spin-off that gives a deeper look in to Levi but not nearly as good as Attack on Titan.

Between a 3.5 and a 4. I mean it didn't blow my mind, but I was engaged when reading a book about a cooking contest...yes...I know.
The artwork is the hardest thing to get in to for me. I love it sometimes, some people are drawn wonderfully, others this ugly disgusting look (which I assume is on purpose) but the major issue is trying to understand everything that is going on. Sometimes the art makes it hard to follow what the hell is happening.
I do love the pacing. It progressively gets more and more engaging. Especially seeing our hero come back into his old life, reuniting with his daughter, and dealing with his psycho of a wife. I think it just keeps building, and in a good way, and the ending leaves it open for the next volume in the best way.
Is it amazing? No. Is it very interesting? YES. And that's something special about something I normally wouldn't bother reading it. So I'm going to go with a 4 simply because it's something new, and that's special.

Wow look at that. Sometimes you pick up a book you never thought you'd enjoy and end up smiling most of the way through. Surprise!
Nova: Origin is a neat little story because you really don't have to know much about the original. This is Sam's story and it's all about living up to his father's name and becoming the new NOVA! Which is basically like a space version of Iron-man suit...I guess. Listen, it's badass. Also Sam is very normal teen or just has fun being a damn hero. I love when they let their kid characters act like damn kids and be excited about shooting lazes out of their freaking hands.
The only negative I can think of is sometimes the characters feel a bit cliche and the huge exposition dump at the end of issue 4. But hey, that's just one little thing in otherwise fun and beautifully drawn story. Go check out Nova. It's FUN. Which is a nice change.

Easy to read, charming, fun, but very very cliche is the best way to describe the first volume of Avengers.
Basically we get a new cast to be in Avengers, such as Nova, Ms. Marvel, Miles and more. The chats between our heroes is both light and fun. Some funny moments, some heartfelt, and overall good chemistry between them all. Also the entire volume has solid art.
On flip side the story itself, or plot, is very very basic. Evil bad's coming to earth, avengers gather, and boom. We win. Then at the end the big bad you learn isn't really as bad as they say and a even BIGGER bad is coming. Sounds familiar? Yeah...welcome to every superhero story ever.
Still, it's fun, easy read, good for introduction to new readers. Just don't expect anything magical (excluding Thor) and you'll be satisfied.

Just like volume 1, it's okay...
Like I want to love it, but I don't. I don't hate it though, just comes off very filler. So we have a story that's more focused this time. See the fall of it all, how friends break apart, how heroes stay heroes, and how villains grow behind the scenes. It just feels all neat...rushed at the same time...I dunno something about these two volumes just doesn't capture the same "OMG" feel that Legacy did. I still can't wait for Legacy volume 2 but these I could have lived without....but still somewhat enjoyable.
SO a 2.5/5.

Man Nova is becoming one of my favorite characters...who the fuck would have guessed? Maybe I have to read older stuff to after I catch up.
So this volume is pretty damn good (with the exception of the Infinity tie in. Thanos goon is lame, and the fight was corny as fuck. When Sam won with the word Bully I almost facepalmed) but everything else was enjoyable. Watching Sam try to keep his identity a secret, balance between being an avenger or not, and his life with his mom it all comes together so well. It brings me back to the days I read Ultimate Spider-man as a kid, and that's the best feeling.
The way I describe it is very Ms. Marvel like, but I don't feel like it's talking down to me or aimed at kids (Which I do feel Ms. Marvel is) so I'm really digging it. Hope the next few volumes hold up!

3 to a 3.5. This series is pretty damn depressing. My only main issue with this one was going a little to far (a little girl having her vagina basically torn open) and such got me a mood where didn't want to read much. I'm also not the type to let horrible things stop me from reading but that was much.
I also didn't feel the ending all too much, it felt like the series was just throwing more and more without letting it advanced.
However, it's still wonderfully drawn, horrific moments that make you gasp, and it is still very much engaging. Will still continue with this one because I expect the next volume to advance the storyline. Let's hope I'm right!
