This was okay. It's actually a fun idea to focus on the kids/teens in the X-Men family. However, none of it is very interesting behind some fun moments. Not awful but just okay. Like most X-Men stuff after Bendis.
This is actually pretty damn entertaining even if follows a lot of the same beats as Z.
So Trunks comes back from the future to warn Goku and the others about a new villain. BLACK GOKU. So yes...his name is very original. But come on, we got Vegeta's kids named after trunks and bras, so...lolz. Anyway Black Goku has destroyed Future Trunks timeline or least taken over. It's kind of what he does. So Goku and Vegeta decide they're going to teach this little punk a lesson.
The battle scenes are pretty great here, and Vegeta finally gets to show off his fighting style again. I also thought there was some great freaking funny moments, one involving Goku not ever Kissing anyone. I think the pacing works though some scenes are very heavy exposition explaining the gods structure and stuff that tend to go on a little too long.
Overall, while this is only half of the full arc, it still is pretty entertaining. Hoping this series continues to be fun. A 3.5 out of 5.

This is by far one of the most batshit insane manga's I've ever read. This volume jumps from typical weirdness I expected from a mature rated Manga to wtf...and I kind of loved it?
So the story you've come to expect is thrown into the trash can. We are introduced to a new character, the director, and his dream is to make a movie. After all the movies in the world had been burned up and thrown away, she finds herself bored in life. She then wants to make her own movie but to do so she must find her star. The Fire Man! She goes to where he was kidnapped last volume and...well shit goes crazy in a matter of a few seconds.
The series still contains highly offensive things such as harsh language, violence, and rape/nudity. It is toned down some from volume 1, and while the rape is attempted here, it still might be painful to read. That aside, the energy in this volume is lifted up big time. The author is obviously having fun here introducing this new character who basically plays narrator. Even to the point he cuts scenes out to move the pacing along. It's hilarious and interesting take. I also think the art still remains pretty solid with some excellent fight scenes.
Overall, very much worth checking out. This volume is a nice upgrade from volume 1. A 4 out of 5.

This one was a lot of fun.
Koichi falls for one of his students at his college. She's a writer, and she's trying to find out more about Vigilantes. With that Koichi of course falls for her. Popstar doesn't like that as she has a crush on Koichi. Then Koichi mom comes and visits and lolz happens.
Just like all the other volume it's not amazing but it's alot of fun. The series just contains a lot of easy going moments, good character developments, fun fights. It doesn't blow me away but I'll continue to read it. A 3.5 out of 5.

Daredevil is my favorite superhero ever. Not only do I believe he has the BEST runs ever but also the fact he's just one of the most compelling characters in any medium when done right. I even have a tattoo of him. So yeah, to say I'm a huge fan is a underestimated. However, it's been awhile since I loved a volume of Daredevil as much as this.
So Matt just doesn't have a easy life. We all know that by now if you read just one issue of Daredevil before. However, just when you think it can't get much worse, it does. Matt is out on his runs, beating up bad guys, when by accident while fighting a guy slips and cracks his neck. That happens in the first issue and the next 4 are him dealing with it.
What's so engrossing about this storyline is Matt's back and forth outlook on life. First trying to deny he did something, to meeting a actual killer like Punisher and his view on things, and then to his friends while finally meeting up with the city hero himself Spider-man. It's Daredevil's pain of dealing with his actions that make this so thrilling. On top of that the art is amazing, with some of the best fight scenes around, as well as the gritty feel of Bendis-era run or Brubaker's.
Overall, Daredevil is back on top. While I enjoyed Waid's and Soule's run for most part, it's this run that makes me super pumped to read more. Not since Brubaker have I've loved a Daredevil comic again as much. I'm ready for volume 2 NOW. A 5 out of 5.

The Dregs is a dark look into the world of the homeless.
The story opens with a homeless person in the back of a restaurant getting shaved and then murdered and cut into pieces. Then once cut up they are fed to uppity uppity people for dinner and they eat it with a smile.
So yes...very dark opening and a sad look into the world 99% of people ignore, including myself.
Arnold is the main character here who is trying to figure out what's happening to the other homeless people around his town of Dregs. The story is a mystery in some ways, but it's main themes are showing how to survive on the streets. We take for granted sometimes what we have and Dregs shows you how little others have. By the end you're more consumed by the survival aspect and how Arnold survived so long verses the killing of the homeless for food.
Good: The dark and depressing setting never lets up, but it worked well here. Arnold is both a asshole and sympathetic and you can only guess how he ended up homeless. The everyday life of a homeless person is extremely hard to watch as well. The atmosphere is near perfect and the pacing is solid.
Bad: The art is solid but sometimes hard to tell what's happening. Mostly the backgrounds feel a little smudgy. The side characters too could have been more flushed out. I wish it was another issue long.
Overall, it's not a easy read but I think a pretty important one. A noir mystery with a main character you usually don't get. The world of the homeless is very sad but interesting. A easy 4 out of 5 on this one.

It's been awhile since I gave a Deadly Class volume lower than 4 stars.
This isn't horrible or anything. It's still filled with solid dialogue and great art, but it lacks any punch the series is known for. This time we have Marcus going on a personal journey in his head on who he is. It is revealed that, he is, a piece of shit. Then we move on to him and Maria returning to school and how everyone's perception of him has changed. Marcus has a plan and this time it's to strike back at the school.
This volume is light on plot progression for Marcus and co. Sure, Saya gets some much needed time but her chapter plays out like how I expected. I thought there was some funny moments but these chapters also felt like we were just going through the motions. While still solid, and fun, this is a bridge volume, and short, so hopefully the next arc picks up. A 3 out of 5.

Ah, now I'm starting to see why people love this one.
Our main hero has gained a lot of experience already. We already get a small time skip and our new hero is a lot stronger. On top of that his sister is awake and they begin their adventure to try to bring her back to being a human. The first tale here is kind of sad as we learn these demons are kidnapping young women before they get to old and get "ugly" as they say. The next is the main villain has found out what our Demon Slayer wants and goes for the attack.
A fast paced volume with plenty of great fight scenes. The humor also hits the marks as there's a couple of really funny moments, funny faces, and getting more time with the sister kicking ass was a big bonus. Sometimes the series jumps around a bit too much but besides that it is very enjoyable. I'm digging this series so far. A 4 out of 5.

If you like Goblin Slayer's main series this is more of the same.
We get to see our hero become the Goblin Slayer here. The first chapter mainly focusing on the attack on the village. You get glimpses of that event in the main series but here you see it in all the horror. Meaning lots of spikes through heads and goblins raping a lot of women. It's hard to watch and it hits the effect of why our hero is so determined to kill them all. Next is a 5 year time skip in which we have the Goblin Slayer going on his first quest alone.
It's cool to see the Goblin Slayer make so many mistakes and learn from them. Also nice to see how he actually escaped the horrors of the events as a child and his sister's death. The brutality of the manga works in its favor for the type of show it is. Also, the art is really solid. It's nothing brand new and you can guess what will happen next if seen the show or read the manga of the original series but it's well done and well drawn. A 3.5 out of 5, I'll bump it to a 4.

This was...good?
Oshimi writes a lot of weird series yet somehow he gives a interesting voice to a lot of his characters. Similar to flowers of evil, this is a strange book. A guy, who was following a girl home every couple of days, wakes up one day inside the girls body. Creepy, huh? But the thing is that he tries his very best to be respectful to this woman Mari. Not even looking at her body parts once he is inside her body. Which feels odd as he was a creepier before this.
The story is basically that. He goes to school in her body and one of the student knows it isn't the real Mari. Tus the whole volume is basically set up for the series. It has some interesting choices, dialogue is solid enough, and the art is solid. But nothing out of the ordinary in the whole switch body things. Guess we'll see what happens next. A 3 out of 5.
