Wow, this was a nice surprise. I've heard mixed things about Super but I really dug this.

So what's happening the the world of dragon ball after buu is defeated? Oh yeah, Goku is trying to make enough money so Chi-Chi doesn't try to kick his butt. The first half of this book actually covers battle of the gods storyline from the movie. It speeds it up a bit, only hitting major notes, cutting out some big moments, and giving us a quick glance of the world it's trying to set up. The 2nd half os the start of the new tournament saga which has Goku and friends vs 5 other warriors for the fate of their universe.

Good: The art is pretty solid and this is by a new guy, so that's nice. The story is simple yet charming, and hearkens back closer to the Dragon Ball days of humor which is a huge plus. I haven't reviewed DBZ manga on here yet, but I grew up on it both in manga and anime, and it takes itself far too serious sometimes. So I like the lighter approach here. Some great comedic moments mixed in with some cool fights and setting up a bigger universe is all a plus for me.

Bad: The covering of the gods movie is kind of meh. It's not horribly done but it does rush it and I'm glad I saw the movie before reading this. Not to mention they just skip out on the freeza movie all together haha.

Overall, a 4 out of 5. I really enjoyed this and wanna pick up the next few volumes. I don't have much time these days to sit and watch a 90+ episode anime so nice to just sit back and read a really fun manga volume in 20 minutes.

This was really odd to be the next volume in Captain America since it really has nothing to do with captain america.

It's all about the future line of Steve Rogers. With mix match of political undertones, what the American dream really is, and how to overcome it. It's not a bad idea, but feels odd to be a captain america mainstream comic. Should have been a side comic. Also, the ending begins to drag and by the end I was just happy to finish. This run started off decent enough but Waid should have just done a mini-series instead. A 2.5 out of 5.

After a really strong first volume, I was excited to get this one. Did it live up to the potential I saw? NO.

Well, let's start with how it begins. X is back. The X-Men are trying to accept this. I mean, after seeing their mentor killed it's hard to trust this new information. Especially since the Shadow King could still be behind it all. Then we have a new villain, which I never heard of, who is basically one strong ass psychic blob. But on top of that the X-Men have to work together to face off against him but what if there's something even darker coming?

Good: The art is still pretty good. The fights remain well done and epic. I thought X joining the team at the start of this volume was really well done. Actually, the first 2-3 issues are pretty good and even set up a somewhat interesting villain.

Bad: The last 3 issues become a slog to get through. Dialogue that was once interesting became crappy. The villains, both, are dull as can be and beat just as easy. I also couldn't stand the very ending, felt like a cop-out.

Overall, it's a disappointment. It's not horrible but it became extremely dull by the end. A 2.5 out of 5. I'll bump it to a 3 for the art but yeah...not nearly as good as I hoped.

H-o-l-y shit. This might be one of the worst comics I've ever read. Like, I read Iron Sights and The Pro, and this might be worse than both.

Listen, this is all you need to know. At one point Catwoman gets about 80% of her clothes ripped off and we have big chunks of skin showing, everything except ass, vagina, and nipples because it is mainstream DC title. Okay, so whatever, superhero lose their uniforms all the time. The joker is the one who did it, so you know that crazy clown pushes people to the end. So then he hands her a new suit in which she puts on almost right away and BOOM there's a trap inside the suit that stuns her because THE SUIT CAME FROM THE FUCKING JOKER, and on top of that the joker promises a cure of some sort on his pecker....oh yeah and he puts under her suit a bunch of Bat signals on her mostly nude body when she takes off her uniform and...

This is like less than a issue worth but that's probably the highlight of the entire volume because the rest is oversexualizing Selina on top of really terrible storylines and dialogues.

So yeah...this is bad. 0 out of 5.

While I felt the last volume elevated the series, this one takes a step back, and gives a okay ending to a pretty long series.

So it all comes down to accepting the past. You have to visit it, accept it, and only then can you move on. It's the path of multiple characters, their regrets, and their loss and how they plan on wrapping it up so they can go to the next step. Kasuga decides to visit Nakamura to finally figure out his feelings and thoughts but this time he has his new girlfriend, Tokiwa, to help him get through it. There's also a bonus ending chapter that covers Nakamura first time meeting Kasuga.

Good: The art, as always, is pretty great. The Tokiwa and Kasuga relationship is still the strong part of the love stuff. I also liked seeing Nakamura's view point and now understand why she's so fucked up in a lot of ways. Oh and the fact they showed the future for multiple characters gave a much needed closure that I didn't know I wanted.

Bad: The stuff with Nakamura seemed weird and odd. I also thought the death of Kasuga's grandfather wasn't all that well handled. A lot of the same shocked panels and faces the author loves to do felt like waste.

Overall, it was a solid volume but nothing I didn't expect from. Still, overall a interesting series if nothing else. A slice of life for Japan. 3 out of 5.

Everyone seems to love this volume but I honestly thought volume 1-2 were stronger.

So Kate decides to recruit wonder woman to help her. We have here a story of two badass warriors teaming up to kick some butt. Sounds like the perfect recipe for some great comic action right? On top of that we get a nice big ending you might see coming. Oh yes, we also get the annual, which is basically a retelling of how Batwoman became who she is.

Good: The art is still pretty great and much easier to follow as the series goes on. I think Kate is still a pretty interesting character too so that's a nice plus. The annual issue was a cool way to catch up and Wonder Woman and Batwoman team up is both badass and cute at the same time.

Bad: WAY too much dialogue. Way too much talking and monologuing. At one point the page was filled with so much I forgot I was reading a comic and thought I picked up a novel. I also didn't think the storyline was all that great this volume.

Overall, still a good volume, but can't help but feel a bit let down compared to volume 1-2. Owell, on to the next one! 3 out of 5.

So finally finished this one. Not that I didn't like it but just hadn't gotten chance to come back to it after reading first two issues for about two weeks.

Now that you know about my personal life and don't care, let's move on to the review!

Power Girl is doing a best to keeping her city safe. As a big bust version of Supergirl with a charming personally she's about to take on a great evil mad scientist sexist gorilla. Then, after that, she tries to take down a visitor from space, a sexy group of half naked chicks, all while teaching the new Terra how to use her powers to safe people. Sounds stupid? Well...not really!

Good: The fights are pretty grand and epic and really fun. The art in general is really cartoony and just a joy to view. The dialogue can balance some really fun moments and some good heroic moments as well. I like the relationship of mentor A LOT here and want more of it. The daily lifestyle of Powergirl is upbeat and fun!

Bad: The storyline is goofy and so it feels like no stakes, and so it can be a breezy read but sometimes empty. Also, there is TOO much talking sometimes. Just endless amounts, I almost thought was reading a Spider-man comic for a moment. I also thought the villain was meh.

Overall, pretty fun. I didn't love it like some here but I did have fun reading it. I probably read volume 2 because of how carefree and charming the series is. A 3 out of 5.

What a dark goddamn story. I don't think I was prepared for this.

Brian goes to visit his father who is dying in the hospital. Right before his father passes away he tells Brian about a house where something is buried, and mentioned the remains of little girls. So Brian goes over to the house to discover a bunch of dolls made up of flesh and bones from missing children. Soon he is consumed with fear and then begins to doubt himself, and who he is, and might be a murderer himself like his father. What becomes even worse is a detective is then hot on his trail and things get messy!

Good: The dark atmosphere is ALWAYS there. Somehow, both the artist and writer manage to have some funny moments, despite how wicked an dark this book gets. I also thought the ending was truly horrifying but it worked on a scary level or horror level because...well it's a horror graphic novel. I thought Brian made for a interesting main character and his self doubt made you question what was happening.

Bad: The twist, while not hard to see coming, did require a pretty decent suspense of disbelief. I just thought it came together too smooth.

Overall, a dark and moody tale well worth reading. I didn't enjoy Foshua Hale story Cleaners but this was pretty dang good. Probably around a 3.5 but for the sake of goodreads I'll hit it with a 4.

Nightwing leading a team of fighters after the loss of two friends? Uhhhh yes!

This is basically a hit team. One who hunt and take down villains, hard and fast. They don't care about press or good looks, this isn't the Teen Titans or even The Titans, these are the team who handles shit others can't. Nightwing, at first reluctantly, joins Roy as they build a new team of superheroes. This has multiple personalities and powers ranging from robotic warrior to lightning's daughter who can take a lot of damage and dish it back. This is broken into two arcs and then a one shot.

Good: Really love the dialogue back and forth between everyone. It feels like a team but a really shaky one. Not everyone just getting together and working well because they're heroes. I also thought there were stakes, as one of the main heroes gets injured REALLY badly. I also think it deals well with finding your place as heroes like these don't always fit into normal teams. Art is solid too, with some over the top fight scenes, including a fun and crazy plane crash.

Bad: The villains could have been better. Adding Joker and Grodd in for big names was okay but felt bit forced. I didn't love Black Voodoo either, he was kind of lame.

Overall, super fun. I hope this series continues as I heard great things for Titans, the followup series I plan on reading. I really love a lot of Judd Winick work. I hope he returns one day to create more. A 4 out of 5.

Ouch, this was not good.

Listen, people just hate Bendis to hate him. I personally enjoy a lot of Bendis work. I know some make fun of his writing style but sorry, dude gave me one of the greatest runs of Daredevi, the perfect Spider-man in ultimate Spider-man, super fun adventures of New Avengers, Alias is near masterpiece for me, and I liked his X-men/Iron-man too even if they both kind of went bad by the end.

Anyway, point is, I don't usually dislike his stuff but this...was boring.

So the first issue we get the background of Quill. Remember that touching moment in the movie where Peter gets to say goodbye to his mother who has cancer? Nah, fuck that. We get a alien invasion in which they shoot his mother and try to kill him but he fights back. Jump forward and we have the guardians working with Iron-man to stop a threat to the world. In fact, it's more of like the guardians becoming the avengers for a bit. Then...it ends.

Good: I liked some of it, the fights being big in scope and fun. I also thought the very start of it was pretty cool till the death. Rocket is funny, screaming "Blam, murder, you're dead" is pretty funny. Groot looks cool.

Bad: Gamora and Drax are both boring as can be and give nothing to the team except some fight scenes. These don't feel like a family, and I know it's unfair to compare to the movies, but they really missed the mark here. The art sometimes is too dark, making Peter look mad all the time. The inclusion of Iron Man adds really nothing, just to promote the work more I'm assuming because this was before the movie.

Yeah, overall, not feeling this at all. So much so I'll probably stop here. I just don't really see the appeal and if I go by the ratings of the series, this is one of the stronger books. Yikes. A 2 out of 5.
