This was okayish. Batgirl year one was better.
This is the early years of Robin. Dixon does a good enough job of giving us a fun and easy going sidekick to the Batman. It's dark when needed, it's light when it should be, and it hits all the notes you want for the start of Robin and his time before leaving the Batman and becoming Nightwing. Overall this was a decent fun read, nothing special or different though, a 3 out of 5.

So I continue my run on Fantastic Four and, have we finally hit the great volume that will change James's mind and see the greatness? No. But we're getting better.
This volume has a few stories all coming together. Johnny takes the kids to the store to grab some new toys, Reed builds the foundation of geniuses to solve problems he can not alone, and we get a little flash back of Reed and his father back in Reed's younger days where they team up with young doom. All of this happens, as always, in just a short little graphic novel.
Good: I really enjoy the human moments with Johnny and the kids, Reed with his foundation, and even sue with her daughter from the future at the end. The big twist at the end was fucked up and leads to exciting ideas. I also enjoyed the Grimm moment and it made me so happy to see his reaction.
Bad: The story can still be convoluted as shit. Some things happening in the background seem to build but no explanation. The art seemed kind of iffy here, some moments kind of ugly which is very odd.
Overall this was fun but not amazing. I really want to love this series, and so far it's good, but I want great. Still, it's ramping up so we shall see. A 3.5 out of 5.

This was kind of lame/boring despite some neat ideas.
These feel like B-side stories for Spider-man. I know Peter David wrote 2099 Spider-man for years and then came back and wrote him, and now is writing Ben Riley story but this...well it was okay. It's a retelling of certain events but a what if ben didn't die and if May died instead. Then we have a wrestling story. Oh and the first one shot story about a blogger posting about being followed by spider-man her whole life.
Good: Enjoyed the one shot actually. A bit dark at the end but worked out really well if you ask me. I also thought the Ben story had moments, particularly the start and end, that made it pretty dang intriguing throughout.
Bad: The art sometimes suffered big time, becoming pretty awful at points. The "mask" storyline about the wrestler was fucking dumb and a waste of time.
Overall okay at best. I'd probably go with a 2.5 at highest or a 2 if I really think about it. I just couldn't get into this one.

A re-read. Still as fun as before.
My wife is watching buffy for the first time (I finally got her to watch it) and I felt like actually trying to catch up on the comic world of buffy since it's like 12 fucking seasons long now.
So this takes place after a crap load of Slayer's are now with Buffy. Also, Dawn is a giant after having sex. Oh and Willow is still going around being a witchy witch. Xander is now like Nick fury too, but we all knew that would happen.
Good: So the good fight is still there but bigger. Lots more magic, lots of grand fights, huge ass dawn. It's all big and epic and a lot of fun. This volume is mostly written by Whedon so it feels very much like the TV show on paper.
Bad: It's a little too big in terms of scope and loses the specialty the show had.
Overall it's a lot of fun for buffy fans. I never really read past this but excited to try. A nice 3.5 out of 5.

Deeper backstory on the One Eyed Ghoul. We also get a lot of backstory of secondary character, flushing them out, making them more interesting. The ending choice with Ken as he decides what he must do begins to have grave consequences as the hunt for the Ghouls has begun. This is a middle bridge volume with one very badass fight. A 3 out of 5.
This one starts off interesting enough but once Robyn gets into the old world it's just kind of boring. I can't get into the setting or people. A lot of people die so that's kind of a nice twist but otherwise not a very strong volume. A 2 out of 5.
Holy shit FINALLY a Old Man Logan comic I REALLY enjoyed. Ed Brisson brings all the goods in this one.
So the hulks want revenge. Remember those inbred pieces of shit from the original Old Man Logan story? Well, there's a lot more now. They are lead by one insane Hulk who's ready to kill Logan and his new world no matter what. When they come into the regular universe Logan goes head to head and tus the bloodshed begins.
Good: Love the hell out of Logan's tone and mood here. A gruff but smart fighter. One who's been through hell and learns how to fight back against the evil hulks. The fights, man oh man, bloody and exciting, this was great. Logan going through hell and back here and really entertaining.
Bad: The cameos weren't all that interesting and sometimes the art faltered a litte.
Overall great. Ed Brisson boost into Old Man Logan, and now I want a lot more. A 4 out of 5 for me.

Bruce just doesn't have much luck and this is probably one of my favorite arcs for the big green dude.
So Bruce is still on the run. You'd figure by now he's getting a bit tired. He goes to a isolated diner and when eating a bunch of asshole guys come in and start messing with the waitress, in which Bruce makes quick work of them without even hulking out. Yep, someone has mastered his powers. This leads to alot of twist and turns and the return of the Abomination. Next arc focuses on a mind controlling bastard who uses all these people to get what he wants, leading to some horrific moments and deaths.
Good: The first arc, the Abomination one, is so damn good. It's a steady build up, we see more inside Bruce's head, the fight moments are epic and brutal, and it all comes full circle. The 2nd story has it's moments, particularly the last few moments work very well. I like the art throughout still, moody and dark, but it's a more horror vibe so it works.
Bad: The main enemy of the 2nd arc is a little silly. Also the guy who is unkillable dying is the dumbest fashion was kind of lame.
Overall, this might be my favorite hulk book of Jones run so far. I really dig the Abomination here and the fights were epic. I'll keep going, not sure why more people haven't checked out this run or given it such low ratings on here. A 4 out of 5.

New X-Men: Childhood's End, Vol. 4: Mercury Falling
Craig Kyle, Craig Kyle, Paco Medina, Christopher Yost
These poor kids do not have it easy.
X-23, Laura, is my favorite mutant of all time. She gets the spotlight in this volume which makes it my favorite volume so far. Just when you think they're after her again they go after Cassidy instead. The evil group takes her and begins torturing her to the point of nearly killing her all so they can use her skin to make these monsters even stronger. So what happens when a pissed off killer like Laura teams up with a strong ass psychic? Well, not good news for the bad guys.
Good: The fights are great, the art overall is good, and I love the dialog. The teens act like teenagers, joking, love issues, and just general problems. The adult situations these kids are thrown in is hard for them to cope but they do their best. The ending leads to the final chapter, which I hope is as good as the rest.
Bad: Just odd that the two people who go out for dinner decide to get attacked. But it has to happen somewhere.
overall really solid, fun, dark tones, and interesting character moments. Giving this a nice high 4 out of 5. X-23 fans will love this.

I like it and I kind of don't like it. Like, I begin to like the way a story is going, then it flips, and I think it's confusing just to be confusing and not well told.
Anyway, this is about Xavier. The poor dude was shot right in the head by the insane man Bishop. Of course have his good old buddy Magneto to help bring him back along with a bunch of other mutants. Then we take a trip down memory lane with our good old professor in what could only be considered trippy as fuck and weird and tus ends with a new threat to the X-men and the world.
Good: The art was solid enough and work to give a more mature look to the darker toned series. I really enjoyed seeing Xavier's approach to fixing his memories, or his brain. The ending also ends on a very interesting note.
Bad: It gets wordy, and feels preachy at times, like "hey do remember this moment in this time?" I also thought some of the dialog verged on chessy at times.
Overall a interesting set up but a flawed one. Still, I'll give Legacy a few volumes in to see if I enjoy it. A 2.5-3 out of 5.
