This was over the top yet entertaining. That pretty much describes every single book I've read by Justin Jordan.
So think Mad Max but with a baby. So NO (That's the main character's name) finds a baby after he kills some insane assholes who just murdered a woman holding the baby. After he does you begin to learn about the world and the "Spread" which is a virus like thing that creates big squid like monsters among other weird ass looking creatures. However, they are not even the real threat. It's the other humans and we're introduced to a big fat motherfucker who is powerful as shit and a fancy pants looking dude who fights real well, and it becomes a fight to whoever can get the baby called Hope!
Good: The story jumps quick and the pacing is solid. Tons of brutal fight scenes, a cute yet ugly baby, a insane woman who can fight, a Asian warrior called NO who can slaughter you, and more. It's over the top yet somehow always entertaining.
Bad: It's not very original. It really is just mad max meets any zombie like story. Also the art can be a little off putting, with very ugly characters.
Overall fun just like Jordan's other books. I'm glad he has fun writing them since they are pretty fun to read. I haven't read an AMAZING one yet but this still was solid entertainment. A 3 out of 5.

And sadly we go out in a whimper.
This mostly is closing up ties to Jason's end. Try to cover it up and finish where it started. Doctor Strange has to help his follower get through a dark time. People are after him trying to kill him as always. Then we jump into the annual to kind of jump start the next run. It feels short, rushed, and not a great ending.
Good: I still love some of the art, mostly on Jason's issues. Also Jason still hits the tone and voice of strange well. I also liked that he got a new sidekick.
Bad: The fights weren't that great, the annual was honestly boring, and the new writer didn't really hit the voice of strange. It didn't end in a epic fashion that I think the character deserved and ended more on a whimper.
I'd probably end up giving this a 2.5 or so but honestly I'ma have to go with a 2 star just because it wasn't very impressive.

Bryan Hill has honestly taken a solid series to an amazing one in these last two volumes.
So this volume a ton of shit happens. Laura puts Mark as stand in mayor. You know the folks around town aren't going to like that. Chris Bremble, our favorite FBI agent, finally meets Issac and the meeting goes very different than expected. So with two major events happening, a ton of betrayal, death out the ass, and a final showdown all coming to a head, Postal is all in now. Who will die? Who will outsmart who? It all comes down to this.
Good: Love the fact each character is given different view points, nobody is perfect, and the ending leaves a lot left to happen. The deaths in this are impactful, fucked up, but they make me think "What's going to happen next?" I also thought the events of Chris Bremble were the best the series had to offer for that character.
Bad: Nothing really...
Overall this was exciting, well drawn, well written, and finishing up the series very strong. It's hard to give this less than a 5 for how much I enjoyed it.

Avengers: Disassembled
Olivier Coipel, Dick Ayers, Pete Pantazis, Mike Perkins, Brian Michael Bendis, Bob Sharen, Andy Tory, Scott Kolins, Steve McNiven, Brian Reber, Justin Ponsor, Kieron Dwyer, Laura Martin, Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Frank D'Armata, Mark Morales, Morry Hollowell, Jim Cheung, Danny Miki, David Finch
Okay so I read this years ago and didn't love it. 10 years later? Yeah...still don't love it.
The Avengers are viciously attacked. By whom you ask? We don't know. However, once the attacks begin, we see a bunch of them get killed off. Ant-man, Hawkeye, Vision, death is all around us. After they are completely fucked up it ends up that one of their own might be the person behind all the death and slaughter. This kind of sets up later events like House of M and such.
Good: I thought the art for most part was solid. Also, the deaths are pretty vicious and kind of fucked up. The stakes feel high, and the start of it is very intriguing.
Bad: The last half is long, overblown, and kind of not all that interesting. The villain isn't a big surprised and the characters all break up but you know they coming back together.
Overall it's a okay event. A 2.5 out of 5 would be right but I'll hit it with a 3 just because.

Finally, years later, I sit down and read Superior Spider-man to see if I'll enjoy it as much as I did when reading issue 1 years ago. I fucking do, is the short answer.
So Dr. Ock is the new Spider-man. With that it started a million online fanboys crying for hours. However, if you actually read it, not a bad idea. So now Dr. Ock has all the memories of Peter Parker and the same feelings but that doesn't mean he has to do it the same way. This is a man who wants to cut out the bullshit. Have a life. Take down criminals, FOR GOOD. This is a man on a mission to save people but not bullshit around. This is the Superior Spider-man, and he actually is.
Good: The art is wonderful. I love Ryan's artwork, some of my favorite of Spider-man. The dialog is a step up, since Dr. Ock spider-man is far more interesting and well done and it SOUNDS like him verses where I never thought Slott got Peter's voice down right. The later half of this volume is extremely well done and the last few pages are near perfect for a new SPider-man adventure.
Bad: I thought the start was a little slow, and gimmicky with a ghost-like Peter Parker following Dr. Ock Spider-man everywhere.
Overall this was extremely fun and easily the best Spider-man story read in awhile. His solo title has suffered but this, this was some good shit. Hope to enjoy Superior Spider-man's entire run now! A 4 out of 5.

This was by far the most engrossing volume of the series yet.
It's broken into two sections. The first part deals with Jack and his life of getting famous in Hollywood. It's funny side of things though the ending not so much. The other half of this book is about Boy Blue. Who, till now, I didn't care much about. All of a sudden he becomes a badass motherfucker and goes into the homeland to retrieve the love of his life and hunt down the evil that took over his lands.
Good: The second half is great. Funny when it needs to be but mostly serious and really screwed up moments. Boy blue really shines and he becomes easily one of the best characters in the series. I also thought Jack's stuff was really fun inside look to hollywood and a nice breather from the serious stuff in the series.
Bad: Some stuff can be a little long winded at times as always.
This hit all the right notes for me. While there were strong volumes this was the one to make me a fan of the series. I'll be going with a 4.5 on this one, but I'll smack it with a 5 just because!

Donny Cates is just killing it. Even at his worst the work he does is still solid. Much respect for this guy.
So what's God Country about? Well, you can read the description on any review or right above here. So let me tell you what it really is about. This old dude gets a sword from the sky and kills a demon. Then the god who had the sword comes down to talk to him. They don't see eye to eye and then the god returns home. Once there popa god says we must take the sword back and sends his other son to retrieve it. And from there a lot of killing, kidnapping, and fights go on.
Good: So above you'd probably think this is a gigantic fighting comic. And in some ways it is. And the fights are big and fucking epic. However, it's the family moments, the heartfelt moments, that really hit hard. The art is also great, the fights are stunning, and the designs are pretty interesting.
Bad: The second half gets a little heavy in itself, trying too much at once, and felt a bit too rushed.
I really dug the shit out of this. While not as good as Redneck or Babyteeth I'd still say it's a damn good time. People, check this out if you haven't yet! A 4 out of 5.

All right I can start to see why Ron Marz run is so loved. It's starting to get better and better here.
So this volume is a little more broken up. We take a couple of different cases. This lets Sara really grow in different ways. She has to take a case where she's finding a missing child. She also has her own story of going back in time to revisit all the Witchblade owners. Then we also got a few issues of her tracking down a killer but of course the people helping aren't who they seem.
Good: I really loved the solo issue of Sara and her partner searching for missing kid. Great dialog, strong emotional payoff, and all around well done. I also really enjoyed the ending to the tracking down the murderer since it didn't end the way you expect.
Bad: Didn't love the background issue of all the different witchblade issues. They kind of all were too similar and just different clothing.
Overall better than the last but not on the "Great" level yet. It's getting there though! A 3.5 out of 5.

Glitterbomb might be one of the most surprising comics I read this year. I expected meh and got greatness!
Farrah is a actress. Well, she was, but then got older, had a kid, and now trying to get back in. So things aren't going the way she likes. She keeps going on interviews to try and score another acting spot but it's not happening. So she goes to the beach one day and boom, gets swallowed up and turned into some type of monster. This monster begins to kill people and she blacks out and let's the monster do her bidding against the hollywood fucks who wronged her.
Good: The metaphores going on in this book are pretty solid. Love the whole outlook on hollywood, especially in this day and age. I also enjoyed the art a lot and it was humorous when needed to be, and terrifying when it had to be. Also, the series has plenty of laugh out loud moments yet balances it with sadness.
Bad: I felt it needed another issue. The ending was to rushed and closed up. It's message got muddled a bit cause of it.
Overall it was really really fun and engaging read. I just wished it was longer and it could have been more impactful. However, as it stands was super fun read.

So Metal is over. The big Batman event that shook the foundation of the DC Universe. It's amazing right? Well...
Batman is once again a big cause of most of the problems in his life. He decides he needs to face Barbados alone, or whatever is coming from him, and he tricks all the Justice League so they don't stop him. Then, when it all comes down to it, he can't do that obviously. So out comes the Dark Knights. The evil versions of Batman, and they begin to wreck havoc everywhere! Batman and Superman out of commission, the world in trouble, how can they stop the evil dark knights from taking over?
Good: Loved moments in here. I mean there's a great moment of Batman and Supes being bros. Watching Damien never giving up hope on his father is nice. Batman and a unlikely ally teaming up to face joker-batman, and a few more great moments throughout. There's also some fun dialog bouncing from each character. Plastic man gets a .5 for him being him alone.
Bad: Ugh some of the fighting goes on too long. The story is big, and in it, there's a ton of characters. Sadly some of them are dull as fuck. I also think the ending sets up a lot but it feels entirly to rushed. The final battle is a huge let down IMO where it feels only half done.
Overall it's decent. It's over-bloated, big, and confusing at times. It also has some great moments sprinkled throughout and setting up the future for new directions. It's all half and half, so with that I'll give it a 2.5. I'll bump it up to 3 for the art alone was really good.
