This is one of the first books I ever read that properly got me into reading. It is absolutely amazing and so are the next two books. The character development makes your heart ache. This series takes you to new places even within our familiar world. The gentle addition of unfamiliar language and unique names add to the magical feeling this book provides. The written action is amazing and vivid, but easy to follow at the same time. Definitely recommend.

As soon as I finished the first book I had to know what happened next and this one was no different. Sometimes books don't always flow too well from one sequel to another, but this one does it flawlessly, as if you've just turned the next page in that first book. The tension building and thickening of the plot is done brilliantly, keeps the reader on their toes waiting to see what would happen next. Great sequel.

This is an amazing story with amazing representation. I cry just thinking about how much it means to not only the lgbtq+ community for proper lesbian representation, but also the amazing representation of our ethnic divides. I know the author wrote this as it was a subject close to home, and I'm so happy with what this book has to offer. The plot has a lovely pace to it and definitely has some moments keeping you on the edge of your seat. Reading this I think I went through every emotion possibly: happiness, anger, grief, sadness - it was amazing. I definitely recommend it to anyone, but especially to those who might feel out of place in one way or another. This book is a gentle reminder to look past our differences and biases to what really matters.

I'm a couple years older than the target audience, but this is a very good series. As written on the cover, definitely like a reality show version of the hunger games. Lot's of drama and lot's of different characters to get to know. The imagery is nice and reads easy for someone looking for some nice laid back reading. There comes to be more drama throughout the series, but despite maybe one or two actions, it all stays true to the characters presented.

This is a lovely story and amazingly presents problems that can arise and follow you from the adoption system. It has nice subtle representation of a gay dad (I had hoped for more than in this book, but it also makes me happy to see subtle representation in any shape or form) and the way the protagonist meets the love interest is really beautiful, unique and thought provoking. I have to admit, after reading this I tried a few of the social experiments myself and it was really something. I think this shows the good side of our human nature, and with so many books focusing on the worst right now, it's refreshing and an easy flowing read. The friendships in here are raw and character development well done. The ending left me a bit heartbroken, but also the feeling of hope.
