This was a tough book, but I’m so glad that it exists, especially as YA nonfiction. The stories about the Dozier school were hidden for so long and our kids need to hear what had happened to kids like them and how to use their voice. Author does a great job explaining scientific comments with patronizing or sugar coating details. Big TWs for physical and sexual abuse. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley

Deeply disturbing environmental horror. The Elk Woman gave me chills and I appreciated the integration of the discrimination of Natives into the horror itself. This book was a true winner for me, perfect for gray, windy fall days, and I will 100% be diving into this author’s backlist. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley

Big old nope for me. Abusive stalker is just haunted by demons and is really a victim! Not a single likeable character. Despite being told as blog posts and police interviews and the like, nothing read like the medium it was supposed to be in - just a lazy framing device. Only finished it because it was for #netgalley.

This #netgalley thriller was a little odd, but a fast read. It just felt a little cliche, even with an unusual twist. It wasn’t a bad way to spend a few hours reading, but I wouldn’t pick it up again or gush over it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
