I loved this book. I loved the link to Russian fairytales, the little intricate details that made you feel like you were in Northern Russia. The main character, Vasya, was awesome -strong, independent and stubborn. I felt that Arden created a solid base in part 1 to build the story to its crescendo in parts 2 & 3. Great writhing, and I can’t wait to start the second in the trilogy.

Another stunning book by Philippa Gregory. This book follows the life of Jacquetta Woodville in beautiful detail. Combining historical fact with fiction to create a perception of this woman’s life. I highly recommend this to any lovers of historical fiction.

Though I enjoyed this book, it was a bit too philosophical for me. That said, I feel that this would be one of those books that would invoke completely different feelings depending on what stage of life you read it. Possibly one to revisit in 20 years.

Kristin Hannah yet again delivers a beautiful and devastating story with astonishing detail and characters that you fall in love with. This is the first book ie read looking at the Russian perspective of WWII and I found it fascinating and harrowing. Highly recommend.

This was a lovely little story. It had some bits that I loved, and I thought the ending was great. However for me it didn’t go deep enough into some of the key themes of anxiety, depression and loneliness. That said I did enjoy it and it did leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling.

This book was readable but the plot and characters were both underdeveloped for me. I didn’t much like the main character, Rick. He seemed to swing dramatically from one set of morals to another which wasn’t very realistic. Not a book I would recommend.

Great book! One of those that you can’t put down because you have to know what happens next. A couple of twists that I didn’t see coming. Highly recommend.

Unpopular opinion, but I didn’t love The Vanishing Half. It was ok. I liked the overall plot, but there was something missing for me. I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I would have liked, and I felt like some areas were underwritten. For example I would have liked more on Jude’s relationship with Reece. Perhaps my expectations were too high going in, but it wasn’t the blockbuster I was hoping for.

Brilliant!! I think The Girl in the Tower was even better than The Bear and the Nightingale. I love reading Vasya’s character, and seeing her grow and develop. The Russian folk law aspect was less in this book than the first, but I found the overall plot stronger and more compelling. I can’t wait to start the next one
