I can't believe I finally finished this series. It is truly bittersweet because I love Mia and Co. so much. These books were so lighthearted and fun to read and got me out of some of my worst reading slumps! I'm happy for Mia, where she ended up and I look forward to reading the spin-off series about the new character we met in this book! Mia and Michael will forever be one of my favorite book couples, and you can tell how much they've grown through the books and during their time apart in the last few leading up to the finale.

This was a cute, cheesy, teen romance with sweet holiday vibes. It was perfect for the mood I was in when reading. The different dates were all so fun and cute, even the cringy ones. I don't have as large a family as Sophie, so I did feel like her extended family members were totally invasive at some points but it was clear that Sophie had grown distant from them and they were probably just trying to welcome her back with open arms. I felt that the storyline with her older sister's pregnancy was unnecessary and didn't really add anything necessary. There could have been drama integrated in another way in my opinion. This was still super enjoyable and even though there wasn't a ton of character development, I really liked the main love interest.

DNF at chapter 4. Can't do the insta-love, she's not like other girls, corny nonsense. And I thought this was a holiday themed book but it's not so I'm even less motivated to continue.

This was just okay, kind of dull (though I suppose it is technically a history book). I think I would have enjoyed it more if I read the illustrated version because this one was pretty lacking in illustration and I feel like it could have benefitted from that. All in all, the allure of reading this definitely comes from "immersing" oneself into the same world as characters they love and reading a book they have been mentioned to read themselves while in school.

This is the first set of novella's I didn't really care for from this story. I didn't really see the necessity for them in progressing the story and I have no connection towards the characters they covered so I was not motivated to truly take in the stories. The only part that struck me as slightly interesting was the last half of the third novella where it looks like one of the Mogs might be turning sides. That could make for an interesting part in the finale.

I had such a good time with all of these characters! This series definitely grew on me as I read it, and this was a good finale. A bit predictable, but still good. I was waiting the entire time for a shocking major character death and it never came. I did feel like this book started off all about Princess Winter but as it went on, became less and less about her until she was just kind of there. I felt like her only true purpose was to be a friend to Cinder & Co when they got to Luna and help them with their entry into the palace. This book was super action packed and it felt fleshed out. I personally thought it was a bit long in places and the ending was a bit underwhelming. The length became an issue for me when different plot threads kept getting reused for other characters. It just became repetitive. However, Marissa Meyer does a really nice job of combining her own stories/details with the original tales from which she pulls her characters and as a whole series I really loved this world, story and its characters.

I've had such a good time seeing Mia grow into her own, confident, (mostly) independent young Princess! This book ultimately ended the way I expected, however I did not see the twist of J.P's bad intentions coming at all until about halfway through this book. If this was the path Meg Cabot had planned for, I wish it would have been hinted at a bit more in the previous book. Because truly I thought J.P. was like the perfect guy for Mia (especially after Michael acted like a tool about the sex thing). I did enjoy Michael's return and I thought he showed great character development and in the end, of course he was perfect for Mia. I understand where Lilly was coming from in her animosity towards Mia in the last book and this one, but the rest of her upset just seemed like petty jealousy. It seems like she maybe turned a corner after they made up, but her development was not as prominent as other characters. Overall though, this book was enjoyable as all of the series has been. I can't wait to read the finale!

I don't have too much to say about this book. I didn't love the first two, and this was kind of just a "finish the series" read. I mostly read it so I can read Six of Crows without missing anything I may have needed to know. My favorite characters were Genya, Zoya and Nikolai and I was happy to see them survive this thing and for Genya to recuperate from the Darkling's torture and happily take up work with Nikolai. The twist was interesting and I can see where hints of it may have been given throughout the other books but I have no real feelings for Mal so I kind of didn't care if he had to die. Some of the best scenes for me were the female comraderie and when Alina used her connection to the Darkling against him. I really feel in my bones that Nikolai was a better match for Alina. Especially with the third amplifier twist, I feel even more that she and Mal's connection was anything but romantic. That said, their ending seemed to fit nicely regardless of my opinion on the pairing.

This trio of novella's answered several questions from previous books in the series. I quite enjoyed them, and, as always, I love Mark James to bits. Also really enjoyed getting to know who GUARD was and I love the addition of another badass female character. I'm quickly coming up on the last book in this series and I don't want it to end yet!
