As with the first book in this series, I really have no idea what I just read, but the writing was so beautiful that I still really enjoyed it. The narrator for the audiobook did an incredible job, their voice was truly made for storytelling. But yeah the plot was a little hard for me to follow, and I found myself getting lost in the flow of the story instead of actually hearing and retaining what was being said. But it was still a great experience!

Apparently I had no idea what speculative fiction actually was until now. Unexpected but thoroughly enjoyed

There were some excellent stories in here! Some less than others, but that’s to be expected for any anthology. The one thing that was consistent across all of them though was the beautiful storytelling and writing, that was definitely my favourite part of this! I also really liked how imaginative some of the worlds were. Very thought provoking!

I can't believe it took me two years to finally read the second book in this series, but WOW am I glad I did! The Winternight Trilogy is such a lush, beautifully written fantasy, and I was delighted to get sucked back into this world. I loved seeing where Vasya's character went in this one and watching her spirit become even wilder. This book had everything that I could possibly want in it; gorgeous world building, fascinating folklore, well-developed characters, slow burn romance, angst, pining, just everything! I truly can't wait to get to book three

This was a lot of fun! Completely ridiculous in the best way possible. I loved how whimsical and wild this one was lol. I was just along for the ride the whole time, no matter where it went

It took me 3 weeks to finish this fucker and wow am I glad to finally be done

This wasn’t a bad book by any means, it was fine. I was just really not in the mood to read it, but I knew that if I put it down I would never finish it. But it was at times painful to get through, and other times a very enjoyable read. The characters are definitely the best part of this, the plot is decent but predictable, but I wasn’t a fan of the main romance as much as I was in the first one. And I usually love the trope of watching a character slowly go mad and turn evil and was ecstatic to find out that’s where this was going, but I was a little underwhelmed by it in Blood & Honey and thought it needed to be more drawn out to really feel the effect

Anyways, as a whole this was fine. There was just s bunch of small things that built up over the course of 500+ pages that weren’t my favourite, but overall it was a decent sequel

Really hoping for more creepy blood witches in the third book!!

I was so excited for the vampire, and the a little disappointed when it didn’t end up being a huge part of the plot. And then I was so excited for where things went after that, and then a little disappointed when that didn’t end up as exciting as I’d hoped. Basically this book was a bit of a roller coaster with wonderful things being introduced, but then kinda fizzling out. I still enjoyed it because I love the characters, world building and atmosphere so much, but the plot just wasn’t as well developed as I would have liked it to be

One of my most anticipated reads of the season, but sadly I’m pretty disappointed in it

The writing is stunning, but I found the plot got lost in the prettiness of the words. I had no idea what was going on most of the time, and I genuinely couldn’t tell you a detailed synopsis of the plot even after having finished it

I also felt like the main character was really passive, to the point that she felt like more of a spectator in the events of the book rather than someone actually experiencing the horrors of what was going on around her. She didn’t seem to care at all, and since it was from her perspective it was hard for me to care either

The atmosphere was excellent though! It had a super creepy vibe that I really enjoyed, and I liked the bits about the lore and everything

Overall, not the best read but I’m not mad I read it either. I might reread it physically instead of the audiobook and see if that helps me actually retain the plot lol

Don't mind me, I'm just off to find my own buff long-haired faerie man to build me a cottage in the woods with his dryad friends :)

Can we just talk about the atmosphere in this book though? Because like wow I want to crawl into the pages of Silver in the Wood and live there. That and the characters were definitely the best part; I loved all the times Silver would be rambling excitedly about all the legends of the Green Man and Tobias would just kinda smile to himself, that was adorable and hilarious. Silver as a whole was adorable and hilarious and I loved where the plot took him in the end. In terms of plot, it did feel a bit rushed. I wished this had been even just 20 pages longer so we could have spent more time with the emotional side of things during the climax of the story, I think it would have been a lot more impactful if we'd had more time in Tobias' head while everything was going down. But either way, this was a pretty good read and I'm looking forward to the sequel!

I don’t have a clue what I just read, if I’m being perfectly honest, but I was along for the ride and had a good time! I was able to grasp most of the middle of the plot, but chunks of the beginning and the entire ending are a blur of confusion. The last five pages don’t even exist in my brain, it completely went over my head
