Quirky! Loved the bold, cartoony style.

Yes, there are constant metaphors that are, at times, strange. Yes, the romance is a little trashy and insta-lovey (I know this book has made many teens swoon). Yes, Warner is twisted and pathetic at the same time but also one of the most intriguing characters here. But I would be lying if I didn’t enjoy reading this a lot.

Nice! Feels like a mashup of Sonic Heroes (one of my favorite Sonic games btw!) and Sonic Forces. I’m not too familiar with the new characters Whisper and Tangle, but they seem cool, moreso Whisper with her power/connection with(?) the wisps. Not sure how I feel about another magical gem besides the Chaos and Sol emeralds. I don’t want it to become like Pokemon where the legendaries lost their uniqueness.

Also, I thought the artwork was sleek and colorful. Super
Metal Sonic
looked fabulous with that golden sheen. I like the few derpy moments too.

A good manga debut always has a way of drawing you in and making you want to learn about the characters. I think Taiyou’s adorable with his optimism and aggressive (almost stalkerish and obsessive) need for friendship. His backstory is a little wow.

Talk about 0 to 100!

These evil teachers be getting me, man. How are y’all still teaching?

Things seem overly melodramatic so far, but the gorgeous artwork and the sweet characters make me want to read vol 2.

Quirky. Some fun moments but the main characters are a little mean-spirited and manipulative. I like the episodic stories and some parts feel like they're going to touch on something deeper, fanboys projecting personalities/creating romance where there is none onto cosplayers, feeling aimless, being a black(?/ Verti appears to be black, but idk) person/minority in the cosplay/anime community, and the seedy side of the film industry
(I really thought it was going to go there with the Hulu project. Maybe I'm glad it didn't. At first, just the way the producer guy came about was a little creepy...)

A simple story with some cute illustrations. I don’t mind the friend outgrowing her best-friend when they reach middle/highschool trope, but Lily was laughably rude and flat. It was as if overnight Lily became a butt, so Natalie’s pining for her came off as heavy desperation.
I thought the book was hinting that Lily may have always been self-centered and not truly Nat’s friend with their old club. Everything was purple because that’s the way Lily wanted, but no.

I like that Alex wasn’t necessarily the evil, popular kid and quirky Flo, but I feel like Zoe was just regulated to the “voice of reason.”
