Nat Enough
by Maria Scrivan
A simple story with some cute illustrations. I don’t mind the friend outgrowing her best-friend when they reach middle/highschool trope, but Lily was laughably rude and flat. It was as if overnight Lily became a butt, so Natalie’s pining for her came off as heavy desperation. I thought the book was hinting that Lily may have always been self-centered and not truly Nat’s friend with their old club. Everything was purple because that’s the way Lily wanted, but no.
I like that Alex wasn’t necessarily the evil, popular kid and quirky Flo, but I feel like Zoe was just regulated to the “voice of reason.”
