A gossipy kind of book. The mystery is good, but I am surprised at the writing style - bulleted points about bee-keeping matters, about wild grapes, about Harleys, about members of the town board, about rustic roads and what not - why, oh why? Not exactly my favourite, but it is an interesting story, nonetheless. 

A strange tale. At places, it reminded me of the magical realism trope that I much dislike. But this story was a far more pleasant experience, to be sure. The characters were very interesting, too. That said, would I re-read this book? No. Would I recommend it to anyone? No. 

I can see why this series is so hyped up. The writing is engaging, and the story is compelling. I’m sure glad I decided to finally cave in to popular opinion and give this book a try. Great book. Highly recommend. 

This was a really good story. The mystery, the suspense and the puzzle solving was great fun and kept me interested till the end. Definitely going to continue reading the remaining books in the series. 

A perfect mystery read for Christmas. It is festive with lots of beautiful descriptions of a Hungarian Christmas and a grand tour of the prettiest spots in Budapest - with a little murder mystery thrown in. I really enjoyed this book. Highly recommend for a Christmas read. 

This has been such a fun, cozy read. I love such happy, magical romances a lot. An easy, feel good story - enjoyed it tremendously. I will definitely be continuing this series. 

It was a really sweet, cutesy book. In spite of being populated by monsters and nightmares, the tale is one of hope and happiness. It is filled with glittering rainbow ponies and  pink ninja rabbits and creepy creepy nightmare monsters, but also the most well-read and loving mutated cat monster with tentacles. A nice, fun book to end the year 2024. 

It took me far too long to read this book - as they say, life happened. And reading this dark, dark book did not help much either. I understand that Stephen King is a favourite author; I never ever read any of his books before. This book was read as part of a reading challenge, and I definitely did not like it. A dark, horrifying tale told in a meandering way. And the ending did not make things any better. Disliked is a mild word indeed for this book - I shall strive to steer clear of his writings in the future. 

A huge, huge book. But the read was worth it. I took my own sweet time and read a lot of other books in between. But that did not take away from the charm and intrigue of this book. The world-building is insane and I must confess that I did find it a little difficult to keep track of the characters and locations for a long time; eventually, it became easier. A grand story that deserves much praise. Highly recommend, and I hope that many more readers will find the fortitude to stick with the book in spite of the bulk; it is so worth it. 

I am confused. I liked the story overall, but the forced coziness was too much for my taste. The character quirks of Daphne, her concerns also felt forced to me and I felt that she overreacts to minor incidents. But I certainly do not dislike the book. That said, I will not be continuing this series.
