I’ve only managed to read about 18% and I’m finding the writing so disconnected. It is so distracting and for that reason, I’m DNFing it for now. My expectations were that this would be more of an exploratory tale, but so far, it is a very uninspiring description of many characters in a rather random fashion. I’m disappointed, I really had high hopes for this book.
How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing
DID NOT FINISH: 40%
I'm not the target audience. I like my self help books to teach me to be better, not to "lazy"-fy me. This book is strictly meant for people struggling with mental health.
This is indeed a very motivating read. It is abundantly clear what it takes to be an Olympic champion - lots of grit, lots of preparation, lots of dedication, lots of support and lots and lots of hard, hard work. A will to persevere. A will to succeed.
And that’s just it. I cannot, for the life of me, enjoy this book. I feel like I’ve been to the pool and back, utterly exhausted. I’m buzzing through this book, just because I cannot wait to finish it. I simply cannot appreciate the passion for the sport. And the author keeps jumping back and forth in time; it is so confusing. I’m reading this book as part of The 52 Book Club’s Summer Reading Challenge - would not have even thought of taking up this book, otherwise.
One of the worst books I’ve come across in recent years. Very boring, very crazy, very complicated, very unhinged. Not for me at all. Might have received awards and star ratings, but I found it unbelievably tiring. I read a comment somewhere that the author was “high” while writing this and I must say I do not disagree.
