people will try to make you hate this without reading it but don’t listen to them. i didn’t and guess what? i had fun.
there’s werewolves, vampyres, and humans co-habiting in the same world. trying to co-exist together with centuries of unresolved conflicts. the plot was interesting and the main and side characters were fun.
not only that – for a marriage-of-convenience relationship – the banter between misery lark (vampyre) and lowe moreland (were alpha) was hilarious and their chemistry was hot.
this is probably the best written book by miss ali hazelwood so far. and for her first supernatural book, i was impressed.

sometimes i wanted to just shake eliza and scream at her that caz was in love with her. other times i was on the verge of tears and wanted to comfort both of them because of how relatable they both were, despite being from different backgrounds.

this was so cute!! this book has been on my to-read shelf for so long that when i started reading this, i completely forgot there was magic in this story and was startled when it happened out of nowhere. but it didn’t make me less interested. in fact, i got hooked into the story even more. and add the fact that alice starts scamming her rich classmates with her supposed “enemy” (henry)!?! *chefs kiss*
also, with the already existing academic rival element, i really wish this had dual pov during some scenes. even though this story wasn’t primarily focused on romance, i still would’ve liked to see a dual pov during the parts where alice started to realize her true feelings about henry. i could totally tell how in love he was with her and i would’ve loved to read his inner thoughts.
i support women’s rights AND women’s wrongs. especially when it’s blackmailing a privileged man.

2nd read:
it’s been like 3 months and i missed giselle and prom king so much so i reread them again !!still hate her ex though and it was also in preparation for the next book and i loved it more the second time??
1st read:
i had a lot of fun and couldn’t put it down. i can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to read this.

gigi “gisele” graham and luke “prom king” ryder
the sunshine girl and the grumpy, quiet “bad boy”. i adored gigi and ryder, separately and especially together. them both being hockey players was so hot. and most importantly, both of their character development was so good to read and lowkey made me really emotional.
the lack of plot in this book would’ve been more of an issue if gigi and ryder’s relationship wasn’t so fucking wholesome. their relationship was so mature and the communication between them was such a breath of fresh air. this story was more centered on the natural development of their relationship and watching them navigate the good, bad, and ugly, rather some big plot that requires a resolution. also, the found family trope in this was a win for me.
my biggest issue with this story isn’t the fact that there wasn’t really a plot, but the fact that gigi kept trying to placate her ex’s feelings for so long, even after he cheated on her and lied about it. like girl, STAND UP! why are you letting a man dictate your life!? not only that, ryder becoming friends with said ex too was so?? that’s weird! why offer redemption arcs for cheaters? booooo!
other than that, not only am i really looking forward to the upcoming book – because i already know diana and shane are gonna be so fun and i see the vision with beckett and will – but i’m also now interested in reading the previous series that led to this one.

there’s just something about the boy-obsessed trope that does it for me. truly nothing can beat seeing a man get on his knees and beg for forgiveness.

i’m conflicted. this is between a 2-3 star read for me. i can’t really decide.
the overall drama in this book – that has spanned through the entire series – was *chefs kiss* it literally felt like a telenovela. but this book centered on setting the scene for the next book a lot, and that made rafaele and cleo’s story more interesting than ras and gemma’s, the protagonists of this story.
another thing, i adored ras from the beginning but it took me a while to warm up to gemma. there was just something about her personality that i didn’t like and i spent a good portion of the book hoping my opinion would improve… it lowkey didn’t. i’m indifferent to her.
ras and gemma’s relationship was the definition of a forbidden romance. why it’s advertised as an enemies-to-lovers makes no sense to me. either way, their relationship? a complete rollercoaster.

this lowkey gave beauty and the beast vibes – with an age gap – based off them having to hide in a castello. gio was hot AND funny. and mari?? what a sunshine girl. their chemistry was off the charts.

i fell in love the moment i read the part where kyrie realized jack has been breeding all sorts of flowers for the past 3 years to perfectly match the shade of blue of her eyes.
