I’m impressed with how dark and challenging this story is and yet it’s still seems to be a story about optimism. This is really a sweet story about a loving friendship friendship, perseverance, and survival in horrible situations.

I listened to the audiobook while following along in the book. Danez was so impassioned I couldn't help but love his poems.

What a sweet follow on to the original story. I loved it so much.

Love this at the top, before the story:
“This outtake is pure fluff, smut and tooth-decaying sweetness. Enjoy.”

I loved Maddy and Olly so much. Honestly though, Carla was probably my favorite character. She gave this girl the world.

This was such a sweet, yet horrible, story. I’m excited to watch make my spouse watch the movie with me

This story was cute and spicy. The fake relationship was cute. Amma was adorable.

I picked this book up specifically because it had demisexual representation. I’ve been looking for representation of me. This was good. I think the way the character was built up in the first half worked. Then having a good explanation was nice. I really enjoyed Rachel’s introspection after learning about the term.

Why was there a picture of single white woman on the cover? Just seems a really odd choice for a book that has representation

This story is literal cultural appropriation. It wasn’t the author’s story to tell. It’s like he was making light of an awful thing that was done to so many people.

This story and the author are a mess. The author is a white man and he made a cutesy story that he said is based on the 60s scoop. If you don’t know what that is, it was a horribly traumatic thing done to indigenous families. Look it up for more detail.

If you want a cute story with a friendship between a boy and a girl that is not and won’t be a romance, this is the story for you.

I love how this story shows that college isn’t the only option

By the way, the dog
dies. I think this hit me extra hard because I had to put my cat down last week.
The dog isn’t an integral part of the story, but is mentioned a few times and becomes important in this moment.

I’ve been dying for demisexual representation and to see my experience in a book. So, I picked up this book specifically because it had demisexual representation. While this did exist, it wasn’t a main part or tiny part of the story. There is a single line about 350 pages in that alludes to it. Then in the last 10 pages it’s mentioned and explained. I feel a little let down, but I think it’s because I had high hopes.

This is an own voices book in that the author is asexual.
