I think I’m learning that I just don’t love literary books

Too much sci-fi for me. I had a feeling when I picked up the book, but gave it a chance anyway. 

The story seems like it’d be good. I’m intrigued by the plot. I just didn’t realize this was a book about cis het people

A friend recommend reading this author’s work. I took her word for it and read O Ovo. It was bizarre but still, I enjoyed it a lot. Of no fault of the author, this book isn’t doing it for me. It’s just not my typical choice of story. I think I blanked after reading “warrior”. It’s especially hard on a topic I’m not loving because I’m still learning Português 

Beautifully written. I think literary books are just not my preference. I guarantee someone else will find this book to be their new favorite.

I’m not sure what about this I couldn’t get into. I only listened to 2 chapters. But couldn’t seem to get into it.

This story is literal cultural appropriation. It wasn’t the author’s story to tell. It’s like he was making light of an awful thing that was done to so many people.

This story and the author are a mess. The author is a white man and he made a cutesy story that he said is based on the 60s scoop. If you don’t know what that is, it was a horribly traumatic thing done to indigenous families. Look it up for more detail.
