The author did a wonderful job explaining and making me believe in this technology that doesn’t really exist. The concept was interesting. I hate what was done to the main character in both her own country and US. I thoroughly enjoyed and hated this story
Moderate: Death, Homophobia, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide attempt, Lesbophobia
Minor: Blood, Murder
I love the extra POVs. The friends and heralds really add to the story. I love how all the people’s stories intertwine
I feel like the romance could’ve been skipped over, it felt like it came out of no where. Or it could’ve been more of a slow burn.

I think the past should be like an old movie you’ve found hidden in a box. You remember it made you sad or happy or afraid but it’s old and there are much better movies to see now. Then you close the box and put it away. Pretty soon, you forget where you put the box and stop caring that you lost it
Graphic: Homophobia, Sexual content, Toxic relationship
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Toxic relationship
Minor: Alcoholism, Drug abuse, Medical content, Pregnancy
- Multiple POVs
- Cute adorable romance
- No “spice” nor smut
- Giggles
- Asexual representation
- bookish characters
- New Adult (but totally clean and good for any age)
This is the book for you. Talking for 5 minutes a day may not be the easiest recipe for falling in love, but you’ll have to read this to find out how that works
It’s funny. It’s cute af. It’s endearing.
I laughed so hard at the comments about “cat butthole-itis”. I also enjoyed the irony of Hennessy being Penetration Tester by trade and yet being asexual.
This was an interesting contrast from the last NR Walker book I listed to.
The end was so satisfying. I’m filled with joy at all the pride she had at escaping the wallpaper prison.
