This was a gorgeously written story. I was drawn in from the beginning and kept wanting to hear more of Johnny’s story.

Amelia Westlake Was Never Here

This is probably a great book, I just couldn't get into it. I picked it up for the queer representation. This is a YA book and it revolves around kids doing things in and around their high school. I typically don't mind reading YA because that's where most of the diverse queer books are, but I think I'm just getting too old to relate to or want to read characters that are physically at school for the majority of the story.

I hated this book as much as I loved it. It was a beautiful read. I looooved the flashbacks that let us have a glimpse into the past.

The author did a wonderful job explaining and making me believe in this technology that doesn’t really exist. The concept was interesting.  I hate what was done to the main character in both her own country and US. I thoroughly enjoyed and hated this story

This was really good. I mostly really really enjoyed the Death Cast and decker concept. It’s intriguing.

I love the extra POVs. The friends and heralds really add to the story. I love how all the people’s stories intertwine

I feel like the romance could’ve been skipped over, it felt like it came out of no where. Or it could’ve been more of a slow burn.

How to Be Less Stupid About Race: On Racism, White Supremacy, and the Racial Divide

Crystal Marie Fleming

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

This book is good, but it was hard to read. I’m not saying the content was too hard. It’s the way it was written. It feels like it was written for a college paper. All the big fluffy words and concepts made this hard to digest.

Do you want
  • Sapphic love
  • Plot with lots of spice/smut
  • Found family
  • New adult (18+)
  • Multigenerational queers
  • Autistic main character
Then read this book.

However, if you feel...
  • It’s too soon to read about life during covid
  • icky reading barely legal smut*
then this is not the book for you

Cuuuuuute story about baby sapphics fighting for space in the world while some are tangled up in family drama others are getting away from abuse.

*This is a new adult book, but the characters are still 18 and in the beginning of their senior year of high school. It almost feels like the “barely legal” category. Then again, this is meant for New Adults. So, maybe it’s perfect.

My favorite quote from this book reminds me a lot of my own life
I think the past should be like an old movie you’ve found hidden in a box. You remember it made you sad or happy or afraid but it’s old and there are much better movies to see now. Then you close the box and put it away. Pretty soon, you forget where you put the box and stop caring that you lost it

If you’re looking for:
  • Multiple POVs
  • Cute adorable romance
  • No “spice” nor smut
  • Giggles
  • Asexual representation
  • bookish characters
  • New Adult (but totally clean and good for any age)

This is the book for you. Talking for 5 minutes a day may not be the easiest recipe for falling in love, but you’ll have to read this to find out how that works

It’s funny. It’s  cute af. It’s endearing.

I laughed so hard at the comments about “cat butthole-itis”. I also enjoyed the irony of Hennessy being Penetration Tester by trade and yet being asexual.

This was an interesting contrast from the last NR Walker book I listed to.

Omg this story is so so so sad.
He doesn’t pay attention to her. I thought he was sweet at first. I wonder if post partum was less known then? It’s not super well known now, so I guess I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m so glad this ended the way it did.

The end was so satisfying. I’m filled with joy at all the pride she had at escaping the wallpaper prison.
