Such an emotional rollercoaster. I felt for Belle from beginning to end and it was all so very believable. A great read, a bit graphic in places but then that was the reality of the time and doesnt take away from the writing in any way.

A bit choppy in terms of tense and writing style, I found the book an easy enough read with a few twists and turns that while explained made me annoyed at the injustice of it all.
Didnt tickle my brain in any way but not completely terrible.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
As with most of Gregory's books, it was believable and didnt feel dated even though this was early Tudor England. It showed the naivety of the English court as well as the very real issues that someone in Katherine's position would have to face in order to survive.

Child of Destiny is an amazing first novel and wonderfully written and descriptive.

The plot, characters and world building are amazing and well thought out, creating a real atmosphere and tension for the reader. The fight/battle scenes are incredibly well done and immersive and show true understanding of the military process whether through personal interest or research.
The magic system is also interesting as the concept of it causing physical pain was inventive.

My personal issue was with the pace of the novel, as for me it took a while to get into the action, hence my removing a star. Along with minor editing issues that are understandable among self publishers.

All in all, a great fantasy debut filled with complex characters, an expansive world and ominous antagonists.
