This is the second book that I have read by Meghan and I have confirmed that I flipping love her writing. Real Good Man is a great read and I am so happy that part two in this duet comes out so quickly because I want to get back to Logan and Banner's story as soon as possible. I didn't love the way this one ended, but I did love everything else about the story, so I would call that one a win.

Real Good Man is told in dual narrative between Banner and Logan. I am not going to lie, when I first started reading the book in Banner's point of view, I thought Banner was the guy in the story. And then when I met Logan, I was really confused. But Banner is a girl and her name is explained in the book, and it becomes a really cute inside joke and pet name for the two of them. I really liked how that part turned out.

Banner and Logan come from very different backgrounds and places. Banner is a new york city native and Logan lives in BFE Kentucky as Banner would say. But I love a small town setting, and even more than that I love that Banner goes to Logan and not the other way around. Logan is a great guy and I want him to get Banner. Just as much as I want Banner to get herself away from all of the labels everyone has imposed on her. Her parents are awful. But they play a pretty minor role, so that didn't really bother me at all.

Meghan ended this one on one heck of a cliffhanger. And while I love a cliffhanger, this particular one was not something I loved. But it is making me antsy to get my hands on the next one to see what happens. I felt for Banner at the end of the story because I know what she has to go back to NY for is not going to be easy for her to deal with.

Bottom Line: Real Good Man is a fantastic romance. I loved the chemistry between Banner and Logan. I loved their real man comments, and I love watching the two of them banter. Banner and Logan are both really good people and I can't wait to see what is going to happen next in their story. Meghan March write romances that I love to read, and Real Good Man is no exception.

I had no problem jumping into this book, even though I have not read the first book. (They each follow a different couple.) I have read several books by this author, so I feel like I pretty much know what to expect going in. I know it is going to be a good romance, I know there are going to be flawed, complex characters that make for an interesting read, and I know that there is probably going to be drama thrown in. And I was right on all of the above for the Six Month Rule.

I have always found horoscopes to be very interesting, so I really liked that each of the chapters start out with the horoscope of one of the characters. Holly is a big believer in them, and I loved seeing her reactions to some of them. It helped me get to know her better. Holly has a very strict six month rule, meaning that she will do a six month, or less, no strings attached relationship- but no longer than that. So yes, I know that means the book is going to be fairly predictable...you know the Holly and Will are going to fall for each other and threaten the six month rule, bu knowing that doesn't take anything away from the reading the story. I really enjoyed watching Will and Holly dance around one another. I didn't love Holly's reasoning behind the six month rule however...it made her seem lazy. She thinks that after six months have passed the fun parts of the relationship are outweighed by the work that now has to go into the relationship, and she doesn't seem to think it is worth it. That my friends, is what had me interested to see what was going to go down with Will. How would he change her?

And now for Will. Will is British. That may not be worth mentioning, but I loved his British accent and terminology. And he is rather snarky, so I liked that he immediately gave it right back to Holly. Will is only in the states for Six months....are you starting to see where this is going. The Six Month Rule is a rather predictable read, but I really enjoyed it. I thought the characters were well developed, the writing is great and their relationship felt super natural. It felt like they each fell into the others gravitational pull and just kind of stayed there getting closer and closer. The six month rule felt like a book that slowly built up over time. Like a smile that just keeps growing.

Bottom line: If you don't mind a book that is a little predictable, but nonetheless very well done, the Six Month Rule is a great one for you to check out. It is a very character driven read with a lot of sass and a lot of heart.

P.S. please, someone give me Holly's wardrobe. I was having serious fashion envy while reading!

I have not read the first book in the series, but I did really enjoy book two- Six Month Rule. You can easily start off at any book you would like. They are very easy to follow and each book follows a different couple. I have read several books by this author, so I feel like I pretty much know what to expect going in. I know it is going to be a good romance, I know there are going to be flawed, complex characters that make for an interesting read, and I know that there is probably going to be drama thrown in. And I was right on all of the above for the Three Simple Words.

I do love a book about a blogger. In this case, Annie is a book/romance blogger on the side of her normal job. I love a book worm as a main character. Maybe it makes it easier for me to insert myself in his/her shoes, I don't know. But I do know that I instantly connected with Annie. So what happens when the overly romantic Annie meets jaded in the romance department Will? That is what Three Simple Words centers around. It is a very enjoyable read. I really liked watching the two of them interact. You can totally tell that even when he realize Annie is different from the typical girls he involves himself with- the kind that he knows will go nowhere, he can't help himself. He just can't seem to stay away. I have seen this done time and time again in books, but I always love it when it is done well. And A.J. Pine does this storyline very well. Her writing and characters win me over every time.

Like the Six Month Rule, Three Simple Words is also a rather predictable read, but I really enjoyed it. I thought the characters were well developed, the writing is great and their relationship felt super natural. It felt like they each fell into the others gravitational pull and just kind of stayed there getting closer and closer. The six month rule felt like a book that slowly built up over time. Like a smile that just keeps growing.

Bottom line: If you don't mind a book that is a little predictable, but nonetheless very well done, the Three Simple Words, and the whole Kingston Ale House series, is a great one for you to check out. It is a very character driven read with a lot of sass and a lot of heart.

Side Note: They changed the covers for the series, and I have to say I liked the old covers better, but a lot of that has to do with my own personal opinions about contemporary romance book covers with guys in underwear on the cover. (I know, I know that is probably an unpopular opinion.) This review was originally posted on Book Briefs

Wrecking Ball is the first book in the adult contemporary romance, Hard to Love series. I love a forced roommate story, and Wrecking Ball by P. Dangelico was great! It has humor, romance, and unresolved sexual tension through the room. Just the way I like my adult contemporary romances. Cam and Calvin have both been through their share of issues and watching their slow burn romance made for an awesome and very satisfying read. I loved it.

If you like slow burn romances, and friends to more (with a dash of enemy to lover thrown in) then Wrecking Ball is going to be a fantastic read for you. It features strong writing, strong characters and a strong romance that sizzled. I really enjoyed this one!

No Breaking My Heart is the fifth book in the Barefoot William series by Kate Angell. I have not read any books either in this series, nor by Kate Angell yet. but I was pleasantly surprised by No Breaking My Heart. It was a quick, fun read that made me smile and laugh from start to finish. Which is exactly what I was looking for. Each of the books in the Barefoot William series can be read as standalones. I had no problem jumping right into this story. Each of the books follows a different couple.

No Breaking My Heart is Alyn and Halo's story. And I really liked the two of them, but what I found really interesting was that there was also a secondary couple forming in the story. Landon and Eden. I'm not sure if this is typical in this series, if there is the base set up for the next book and couple it will feature, or if that was unique to this book in the series. If it is a common element, I would really like to go back and read the other books to see how their stories interwove. (or if they did.) So I am not sure if I would recommend that you read this series in order or out of order. (if you have read this series, and can let me know if the secondary couple element was unique to this book or in the whole series?)

No Breaking My Heart was a fun read. That was what I liked most about this story. It was just lighthearted, fun. And it made me laugh. Alyn and Halo cracked me up. From the way that they met, to their interactions- I loved how funny they were! Both of them are just a tad stubborn. Not enough to be annoying, but enough to notice. It worked for their dynamic though. Overall, I really enjoyed this story from start to finish. It was a quick read that will transport you to the beach for lighthearted fun for an afternoon.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**The Rule Book is the first book in the New Adult (Or maybe adult- I consider this one a cross over that would appeal to readers of both age groups) in the Rule Breakers series by Jennifer Blackwood. The Rule Breakers reminded me of The Devil Wears Prada with a male boss, and a whole lot more romance. I really enjoyed it! And I want more. Specifically, I want more from this couple pairing, so I am hoping the next book is about them too. (Side note: I don't think it will be, but I am keeping my fingers crossed anyway...)

Lainey and Brogan are the two main characters. Lainey is a recent grad student looking to move up in a PR/social media management firm. Brogan is the super young CEO of the company, and he has a rule for just about everything. Including no garlic in the office. Lainey seems to think all of the rules are crazy. I really liked the setup. It felt like Devil Wears Prada with all of the crazy specific things the boss wants done and the very high standards and rigidity he has while working, but it was also obviously very different because of the relationship between Lainey and Brogan.

I really enjoyed watching the two of them interact, I just really wanted to see more of Brogan. This book is told entirely from Lainey's point of view, and I would have preferred seeing it told in Dual narrative, but that is for entirely selfish reasons of me wanting more Brogan. (Though the author has said that if you send her an email linking to your review of The Rule Book to her, she will send you two scenes from Brogan's point of view. I will be doing that as soon as this post publishes!)

I loved The Rule Book. I think my favorite character was Brogan's dog with the farting problem, but Lainey and Brogan were a very close second. Watching him break all the rules was very rewarding. I do wish we got to see more form Brogan's point of view and I wish the second half of the book was longer, because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Brogan and Lainey.

Bottom line: This is a great romance for fans of workplace relationships and of The Devil Wears Prada.

NA ReviewMy ThoughtsThe Rule Maker is the second book in the New Adult (Or maybe adult- I consider this one a cross over that would appeal to readers of both age groups) in the Rule Breakers series by Jennifer Blackwood. I absolutely loved book one, The Rule Book. It reminded me of The Devil Wears Prada with a male boss, and a whole lot more romance. I really enjoyed it! So I was super excited for The Rule Maker. I really enjoyed The Rule Maker too. I think I liked The Rule Book just a tad more, but this was a great read and an awesome second book in the series.
The Rule Maker is Zoey and Ryder's story. We got to see each of them in the Rule Book, so while you can read this independently of the first book, this is a series that I think is great to read in order. Zoey is Lainey's roommate from The Rule Book and Ryder is the the shirtless guy from the first book! ha, I got a real kick out that when I figured it out. Ryder is also one of Brogan's old school friends, which was an interesting connection. I loved Zoey. She is just a bit, a tad, a smidgen tightly wound. She is very much a perfectionist and I just loved her little anal self! And Ryder mixed with Zoey was an awesome combination. I like how they knocked each other off their game just a bit. It was adorable. This whole book was pure fun.

Zoey is working for Ryder's brother on a new resort, and she ends up working more with Ryder while his brother is out of commission, which proved to be all kinds of awkward for Zoey and all kinds of funny for Ryder because they had a brief history with each other. Once again, Jennifer creates releatable and believable characters that you can't help but like and root for. I love her romances and I love getting to really know who the characters are. She is a character driven reader's dream.

Bottom line: The Rule Maker is a great romance for fans of lighthearted fun and great characters. I would read this series in order because while the books do work as standalones, they work even better building on one another. Plus, Lainey and Brogan's story is my fav! The Rule Maker is a strong follow up to a great contemporary romance series. One worth checking out!

Caraval is the first book in a new, young adult fantasy series of the same name by author Stephanie Garber. Caraval has gotten so much excellent hype that when I grabbed a copy at ALA last year, I could hardly contain myself. I am always a little weary of books that have so, so much hype surrounding them, but I am happy to say that Caraval certainly delivered. And then some. I loved this book and I cannot wait for book 2 when we get a chance to journey back to this magical world Stephanie Garber created.

Caraval does have a romance in it, and it was a romance that I really enjoyed, but what I liked even more than the romance was that the main characters, and main focus, of this book were the two sisters. It was really refreshing to see such a great bond between them. And trust me, no matter what your initial impressions might be, there is a great bond between the two girls.
At first, I thought the younger sister was the biggest brat on earth. I was totally not a fan. But she more than won me over as the book went on.

Scarlet and Tella grew up admiring the mysterious and grand show of Caraval, an interactive circus where visitors can choose to watch the competition or participate for themselves. I loved the idea behind Caraval. It was part contest, part scavenger hunt, and a whole lot of magical and creepy. The land of Caraval was enthralling. I could not pull myself away from it. Even now, weeks after having finished the book, I still catch myself thinking about it. Part of me wants to run through those streets with Scarlet and part of me thinks I would never have the guts to participate.

All of the characters in Caraval are so multifaceted and super interesting. And I do mean every one is interesting. Even the actors in Carval play awesomely complex roles. A mixture of real and fake that I couldn't get enough of. Julian, who is the slow burn kind of love interest was particularly interesting. The whole book just works so well. I loved seeing the history of Carval, I loved seeing the present, I loved the characters and the world and just getting to be a part of the whole story telling experience. I need more!! Seriously, this better not be a duology. I want a long series of Caraval books! I can't wait to see what the next evolution of Carval, the game, looks like. I am addicted to this book! And I want more!

My Thoughts

The Bachelor Auction is the first book in Bachelors of Arizona series by Rachel Van Dyken. The Bachelors of Arizona series is an adult contemporary romance series, but I feel like it will have crossover appeal to the new adult audience as well. I enjoyed this book. It was a quick, fun and cute read, so a quick little mini review will do for this one.

The Bachelor Auction is a a take on a Cinderella story, and I loved the main woman- Jane. She stole the show for me. I found her to be charming and delightful really. I also like Brock but I didn't fully love him. I think Brock is the reason why out of all Rachel's books I have read, this one is not my number one pick. It does have Rachel's signature witty and fun writing style. I really love her writing, by the way. And because she is such a strong writer, her romances are always really enjoyable to read, but Brock was a bit too wimpy in some regards for me. And now, I have to say. I get it, I am also not the best with decisiveness. But it is a quality I am trying to work on in myself and it is certainly not one of my strong suits. So while I get it, I didn't love it about Brock either. (This may very well be just my hang up.) I can see a lot of readers totally falling in love with Brock and Jane. I really liked the two of them and their romance, but it was mostly because of Jane and the excellent writing.

Bottom line: If you are a fan of quick, and cute romances and you like Rachel Van Dyken's books, The Bachelor Auction will be right up your alley. I enjoyed this one a lot. It was a cute read that was very funny. It made me smile, but It wasn't my favorite of Rachel's books. (I love some of her other books so much that it is hard to top them!) Still a good read, and totally worth it. I will be continuing with this series, and I can't wait to see what the next book has in store for us.
