No Breaking My Heart is the fifth book in the Barefoot William series by Kate Angell. I have not read any books either in this series, nor by Kate Angell yet. but I was pleasantly surprised by No Breaking My Heart. It was a quick, fun read that made me smile and laugh from start to finish. Which is exactly what I was looking for. Each of the books in the Barefoot William series can be read as standalones. I had no problem jumping right into this story. Each of the books follows a different couple.
No Breaking My Heart is Alyn and Halo's story. And I really liked the two of them, but what I found really interesting was that there was also a secondary couple forming in the story. Landon and Eden. I'm not sure if this is typical in this series, if there is the base set up for the next book and couple it will feature, or if that was unique to this book in the series. If it is a common element, I would really like to go back and read the other books to see how their stories interwove. (or if they did.) So I am not sure if I would recommend that you read this series in order or out of order. (if you have read this series, and can let me know if the secondary couple element was unique to this book or in the whole series?)
No Breaking My Heart was a fun read. That was what I liked most about this story. It was just lighthearted, fun. And it made me laugh. Alyn and Halo cracked me up. From the way that they met, to their interactions- I loved how funny they were! Both of them are just a tad stubborn. Not enough to be annoying, but enough to notice. It worked for their dynamic though. Overall, I really enjoyed this story from start to finish. It was a quick read that will transport you to the beach for lighthearted fun for an afternoon.
