The Rule Breakers reminded me of The Devil Wears Prada with a male boss, and a whole lot more romance. I really enjoyed it! And I want more. Specifically, I want more from this couple pairing, so I am hoping the next book is about them too. (Side note: I don't think it will be, but I am keeping my fingers crossed anyway...)

Lainey and Brogan are the two main characters. Lainey is a recent grad student looking to move up in a PR/social media management firm. Brogan is the super young CEO of the company, and he has a rule for just about everything. Including no garlic in the office. Lainey seems to think all of the rules are crazy. I really liked the setup. It felt like Devil Wears Prada with all of the crazy specific things the boss wants done and the very high standards and rigidity he has while working, but it was also obviously very different because of the relationship between Lainey and Brogan.

I really enjoyed watching the two of them interact, I just really wanted to see more of Brogan. This book is told entirely from Lainey's point of view, and I would have preferred seeing it told in Dual narrative, but that is for entirely selfish reasons of me wanting more Brogan. (Though the author has said that if you send her an email linking to your review of The Rule Book to her, she will send you two scenes from Brogan's point of view. I will be doing that as soon as this post publishes!)

I loved The Rule Book. I think my favorite character was Brogan's dog with the farting problem, but Lainey and Brogan were a very close second. Watching him break all the rules was very rewarding. I do wish we got to see more form Brogan's point of view and I wish the second half of the book was longer, because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Brogan and Lainey.

Bottom line: This is a great romance for fans of workplace relationships and of The Devil Wears Prada.
