Finally jumped into the housemaid series and absolutely loved it! The nice short chapters made it very quick read and kept me hooked throughout.
I love how the characters develop and shift throughout this book which really change up the dynamic of the plot - particularly with the dual POVs and parts.
I enjoy Friedas writing style a lot and the unraveling of the twists. I will say, whilst some of the plot points were a bit predictable in places, I enjoyed how they were written regardless and didn’t dampen my enjoyment in it.
I had predicted that Andrew would be twisted in some way though not to the extent that this book goes into - I mean the gaslighting sure and locking the women in the attic? Sure - but getting them to pull their own hair out and torture themselves … nope didn’t expect that!
I am loving the premise of this book and will be looking to dive into the next instalment soon!

Whilst I loved the prose and atmosphere set within this audiobook, as well as the initial premise I found this incredibly tricky to follow along and enjoy.
Though I did enjoy the character of Ada, I found her incredibly tricky to follow in term of development as the plot just seems to jump around a lot between cures.
I am not sure whether the plot would have been easier for me to make out within the writing style had I read as a physical book over an audio book - but just felt like I didn’t know much more about the characters or plot progression anymore than I did in the first few pages.
Sadly not a book I would recommend even though I did like the initial premise and atmospheric writing - just felt like the plot direction was too unclear to follow and left me feeling really lost.

This books is an intriguing and a quirky take on themes of manipulation, greed and corruption. Seeing how history is re-written and good people are lead astray.
I think I would have enjoyed this more if I had a better Knowledge of the historical context of characters that are embodied. That is entirely on myself of course as oppose to the actual book!
Sadly with no clear protagonist to experience the story through which made it a bitter harder to connect to the emotional struggles as much as I would have hoped for - perhaps this book is a bit beyond me and whilst don’t think I’d likely read again, am glad I finally read it!

This book was filled with everything you’d hope for in a thriller; plot twists, morally grey protagonists and some absolutely shocking crime! Another great pick for fans of criminal minds type themes!
There is a lot to unpack in this story and just when I thought I had it all figured out it would end up with one final twist just to round it all out!
I did enjoy the premise of the plot with all the different copycat kills for various serial killers and for the most part found the characters really interesting.
My only criticism is I wish there have been better foreshadowing to the final killer reveal to not feel so out of the blue and did leave me a little confused.
A word of warning - this book details a lot of potentially triggering topics in some pretty graphic detail - particularly during the killer POV scene so be sure to check out content warnings!

The perfect way to kick off the summer! I really enjoyed this story and the writing style ,as usual, was perfection. TJR really knows how to immerse the reader in!
I will say unlike her other books which I have read, I did find this one to be far more character heavy over a continuous plot but did enjoy the backstory plots from part 1 a lot.
As the plot does flitter back between past and present - though both still interesting - did become a bit slower paced and a little harder to keep track of characters subplots at times.
I loved each character it their own right and it’s great to get some more depth to characters I’ve come to know from her other books. I especially loved Nina and watching her develop throughout the struggles of her past.
The only reason I can’t rate this a 5 is I wish the fire foreshadowing which gripped me at the start held a bit more weight in the end of the book but still a fantastic read.

Though not my favourite so far of the Bridgerton books I have read, still a very sweet love story. Some of the romance and steamier scenes felt really well written as were friendships & family interactions.
Whilst I like Penelope’s character I did feel like her obsessive hopeless romantic trope was really the only thing she seemed to care of think about for 80% of the book. That being said, I did love the relationship between her and lady Danbury in show casing her wit and intelligence. I also have to appreciate the larger FMC love interest being written so beautifully.
Sadly Colin fell flat for me as a love interest, he just seemed like such an irritating character and so clueless to the feelings of those around him.
Overall the plot is very one note and straight forward which made it a very easy read though a bit dull in places. A sweet little friends to lovers romance, but nothing overly special.

I really enjoyed this audio book and even finished it in a day!
The writing style, characters and twists this book took made it an incredibly engaging read. I also thought this was very different from other books that I’ve read.
The approach on the twisted mindset, manipulation and of course the themes of infertility were well constructed and at times quite emotional.
The ending was a tad underwhelming and there were parts of the plot I felt could have been fleshed out more to hit home on but overall an interesting read and would recommend - but be sure to check the content warnings beforehand.

Truth be told I was pretty disappointed in this book. The plot premise was super intriguing and had been on my TBR for a while and was excited to see it being picked as this May’s book club pick for the month.
From the outset I struggled to enjoy the characters of Hugo and Lucy which made it a struggle to enjoy at times. The characters interactions were incredibly cringey for the majority of the book to the point it almost felt like a heavy YA.
The plot whilst intriguing was quite predictable at times - though did enjoy the riddles and the end resolve sadly the writing style let it down.
The YA writing style but with more adult themes and chapters which just didn’t build the atmosphere or emotions coupled with characters I couldn’t really get behind … just made this hard to push through sadly.

I really enjoyed re-reading this book. I forgot how many great details and backstory about lord Voldemort and the horcruxes are missed in the movies.
The memory visits into Voldemort’s past certainly makes the chosen horcruxes and their local feel far more intentional and rounds him out as a much more complex villain.
The only reason I didn’t love it as much as some of the other books just comes down to how this book is more geared towards the set up the final book and to develop the characters out rather than action/adventure/mystery plots points compared to the other books.

This book touches a lot of really emotional themes as we hear about the devastating effects of poaching and struggles of running an animal orphanage in the bush as well as the grief of losing a loved one.
Françoise captures the different personalities of the animals beautifully - from jokesters rhinos to sweet-hearted elephants.
Many heart warming and heart breaking moments as we see the bonds build between the animals and their carers.
Couldn’t rate this higher as I’m unlikely to re-read. The writing style was a bit repetitive and the recounting of memories jumps around a lot making it hard to follow. That being said, this book does share a valuable insight into the important conservation work needed to protect the beloved bush wildlife.
