There are a lot of great conversations that happen in this book, about sexuality and about mental health. It's about learning to take creative breaks and learning to let go a little. Loved the nerdy sci-fi references, too!
What I liked best about this book is the way that Joseph pulls in a lot of Black culture and uses it to show how racism affects Black people in America. His stories are on point and there are a ton of extra resources in the back. Highly recommend!
This was so cute! Ben just wants to do this special thing for Nathan, but of course nothing goes as planned. A perfect story for Christmas Eve!
Personally, I think this series should have stayed a trilogy. I also think not remembering what happened in the last book didn't help me much here. Maybe eventually I'll read them all again and it will make more sense!
I think these last three books made the story too complex, honestly. It was somewhat difficult to keep track of who was on what side. And there was a lot of back and forth with that in this book. Overall, a decent finale that would probably read better if I remembered more.

This has a bit of a slow start, but once it gets going, it really gets going! The representation in this book was pretty well done, all set around this magical, Victorian-like circus atmosphere. It felt unique and magical overall.
Also that ending! Such a cliffhanger. I didn't even realize there were more books until I got there. I might have to check them out!

Once again, an entertaining fun adventure! A western with a bit of a werewolf twist, full of jabs about feminism and the state of our current society. This series has been such a fun read!

Kamala Khan is balancing a lot in this volume, considering she's been officially made an Avenger! Learning to prioritize is something extremely relatable to teens, which is one of the reasons I love this run so much. Plus, Kamala is just a great character, surrounded by other great characters!
I listened to this audiobook, and with the interrogation room scenes, I think that format works incredibly well for this story. Each person in Amir's family gets a different narrator, and it's just an overall great listening experience.
This story was also fantastic. Amir's arc throughout the book is so important and he's constantly learning as he tries new things. He's a teenager, of course he's going to make mistakes! But these mistakes cause growth that you can actively see throughout the book.
As an outsider to the culture, I think Ahmadi nails it on the head. There's so many intersections between culture and sexuality and people forget that sometimes. I'm so glad to have read this story, and glad that there are teens who will be able to relate to Amir's journey.

Such a fun read! Things get a little confusing at the end when Piper and Sloane start switching back and forth, but I really enjoyed this story! Plus, the art was fun and the setting in the DC world makes a great introduction into comics for kids.
Out of all the YA political books I've read this year, I think I liked the storyline in this one the best. Mari's dad is running for president, and she's at the age where she's finally able to understand his policies and arguments. And she's realizing she doesn't agree with them.
Mari struggles a lot in this book with how to deal with her changing beliefs in relation to her parents. This is something a lot of teens struggle with, especially if their beliefs don't align with their parents'. Everything about this was well done and I wish this book was getting more hype for that reason!
