I’ve read a few of the books in this series and they seem to have got gradually less interesting. I found this one extremely slow paced and kind of boring. I didn’t really care about any of the characters either which didn't help. The only interesting part was the reveal but even that didn’t really make sense. The motive and killers identity just seemed a bit ridiculous. Gina also isn’t my favourite character and her relationship with her daughter is so repetitive. Overall I’m not sure I’d pick up any more books in this series.

This book had the potential to be different and interesting but it just fell short. It was so slow paced that I struggled to keep interested and the supposed twist was so obvious. The book also constantly hints to the event that made Clara leave her family behind but never actually reveals what it was. I struggled to get attached to the main detectives. The Polygamous Mormon community was a different take to the usual crime thrillers though.

The Grant County and Will Trent series are probably one of my favourites. The Grant County series is the one that got me hooked on crime thrillers. I did not realise that we were on book 10 of the Will Trent series already. Time flies when you are reading gruesome murders.

Something to bear in mind is the crimes in this book include rape and there are some graphic scenes (maybe a bit too graphic). Apart from that, it was a great read. It was really interesting seeing another side to Sara and Jefferey's relationship. There’s also the frustration of Sara and Wills inability to communicate, the fact that Lena is still managing to mess with investigations and Faith's struggles with the brutality of the attacks.

I did guess who the bad guy was but I still enjoyed the investigation. I loved the past and present chapters to see how the two investigations differed. The long chapters though made it harder to dip in and out of the book and its definitely one that you have to settle in for a long read.

This wasn’t as good as the first two books. I really like Josie but this one was slow and predictable. It was just a standard crime novel with no real twists. It was interesting to see how Josie took to motherhood especially with added father drama and trying to go back to work. I would still read any further instalments though and would love to see how Josie’s and Lucas relationship works out.

Okay, this book was creepy. I haven’t read The Whisper man yet but I will be dragging it to the top of my tbr pile asap. This was different to any other murder novel I have read before. The lucid dreaming was equal parts interesting and creepy. I didn’t work out any of the twists and the ending broke my heart.

It did take me a while to get into the pacing of the book. The story is told from Paul and Detective Amanda Becks POV. However, from Paul we get both past and present which was a bit confusing to start with. Once I got to grips with it I really enjoyed it. It was chilling to read about Charlie and his obsession with lucid dreams and how intimidating he was as a child.

If you love your crime thrillers to have a twist I recommend this one.

The title is definitely misleading. I was expecting more from the killer. The killer was also a bit of a letdown. The beginning had so much promise and then it kind of went downhill. Nothing really happened in the middle. It started to pick up towards the end and then I hated the ending. I’m not a fan of a “suspense” ending. I did love Thomas though. He was such a cute character and I was rooting for him. I’m not sure we needed his family’s back story though. The writing was good I just wanted more from the killer and less of the dark web crime forums. The internet threads didn’t really add anything.

The thing that kept me reading this book was the actual investigation. It was an interesting read with lots of twists and turns and kept me guessing. However, the characters didn’t suck me in. I found Mack a bit annoying and her personal life didn’t really add to the story. The way she dealt with her relationship issues just felt really immature. I also didn’t really gel to the rest of her team. The book also ends with a cliff hanger which I know a lot of people aren’t into. I would be tempted to pick up the next book just to see what happens. It’s not a bad read I just think it could’ve done with a bit more of an editors input. Some of the descriptions are odd and it distracts from the story.

I love this author. She writes so well and her main characters are always so lovable. I loved the chemistry between the main team. Morgan’s slightly dramatic personal life also adds to the story line instead of distracting. The murder is brutal and I definitely found it way more tense because I hadn’t read the blurb so wasn’t fully ready for one reveal. There are plenty of suspects and I was kept guessing until the very eventful ending.

I need a second book now because I want to see how Morgan gets on and see her new friendships bloom.

This is book 2 and although it can be read as a standalone I wish I had read the first book because it talks about what happens in the previous book so now I know what happens. I will still be reading it though and have already purchased it.

I absolutely loved the chemistry between Bree & Matt and thought they were great main characters. The murders were brutal so if you aren’t a fan of the gruesome this might not be for you. I do love a gory read though. I was kept guessing and the fast pace kept me hooked. I enjoyed reading about Bree’s family and I can’t wait to read more and see them grow. It also features doggy sidekicks and who doesn’t love a good dog.

As we all know by now I love the Josie Quinn series. Lisa Regan is such a great storyteller. There are so many great characters, I am so invested in Josie & Noah’s relationship and I adore Misty and Harris.

I’m not sure this could be read as a standalone just because all the characters have such dramatic backstories that you miss out on some of the story without that knowledge. However, that just means that you have 9 great books to read.

As with the rest of the books in this series, I was hooked until the dramatic end and I was kept guessing throughout. Some of the action was a bit unrealistic but that just adds to the drama.
