I love this series. Nikki and her team are so lovable and her and her daughter are just the cutest. I also love the romance element to break up the death and fear. Caitlin the journalist’s role also changes in this book which was fun to see how everyone adapted. From the minute Nikki realised who the latest victim was the book became devastating. Nikki has already been through so much (recommend reading the books in order) and my heart just broke for her. As with most badass heroines she puts so much pressure on herself but you can feel her grief as well as her determination. My only gripe would be that although it is totally understandable why she wants to, it seems a bit unrealistic that once the personal element is identified that Nikki would stay in charge. However, that obviously adds to the suspense of the story Lost Angels is a dark and twisty read packed full of tension and emotion and I just couldn’t put it down. I’m looking forward to more from this series. I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
I love the Kane & Alton series. If you haven’t read them I highly recommend but as this is a prequel you don’t need to. This is a short read of about 150 pages and I read it in one go as I could not put it down. I was hooked. It explains exactly why Kane is the way he is and why he is so protective of Jenna and his team. It also shows how and why Wolf and Kane became such good friends or practically family. It is probably the most stressful romance novel I have ever read. It has the whole romantic build up just with a lot of guns and murderers hunting them down whilst they try to cross a hostile country with no resources. Y'know the usual aphrodisiac And then obviously if you have read the rest of the Kane & Alton series you know how it ends. Even though I knew what was going to happen I still wasn’t ready. It is definitely a great read though. I really hope we get to see Jenna’s past as well. I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
Jaye Ford knows how to write a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing. This is the perfect Halloween read if you dont like gory murders.
Carly is pretty badass and the romance element doesnt detract from her being able to look after herself. I was rooting for her from the start but the pace does slow in places.
I had no idea who the bad guy was or if there even was one. There are plenty of suspects to keep you guessing as well as a lot of great characters to fall in love with (and prey they arent the bad guy).
This is a chilling creepy read that definitely made me check my doors were locked

I love this series. It’s packed full of incredible characters whose personalities just draw you in. It’s one of my favourite crime fighting teams. Although I’m still not sure how I feel about Ben and Morgan’s will they won't they thing they have going on. I love Helen Phifer's writing style and the short easy to read chapters full of twists and turns kept me hooked. I had no idea who it was and although the story isn’t particularly fast paced I still couldn’t put it down. As always I look forward to more from this series. This is book 6 in the Katie Scott series and while it can be read as a stand alone, reading them order helps you see how much Katie has grown as a character. I love her and McGaven’s partnership. I’m still not entirely sold on her boyfriend Chad just because he never seems to be around much and it’s like his character is an after thought. The murders definitely kept me guessing and suspicious of absolutely everyone. It’s a fast paced read full of action and I look forward to more from the series.
As mentioned in my review of the last book, I really struggle to review this series. Overall I really enjoy the story and the characters but it just takes me a while to get into them. I also find them a bit long and drawn out. I did also guess the killer pretty early on this time. However, I had no idea how they were going to work it out or how badly it was going to end. I would say these books are slow burners even though there is always a lot going on but you can always rely on them to have pretty explosive endings. The epilogue has also left me intrigued for the next installment. I struggle with the will they won't they, adults can't communicate their feelings trope when it goes on too long but there’s finally an answer either way (no spoilers) in this book. I think Deck and JB is my favourite partnership though. Their, friendship and banter adds some very much needed lightness and humour. Most people know Karin Slaughter for her Grant County and Will Trent series but I have to say I absolutely adore her stand alone books. I never know what I’m getting or how the hell it’s going to end. As usual with her, this book starts with a bang. The first chapter is chilling and definitely threw a surprise in straight off the bat. Once the book got going though I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. After such an explosive start it slows right down again and it took me a few chapters to get back into a rhythm. I was also a bit confused about Leigh’s career choice considering her past. I was soon sucked in though and this dark story is full of twists and turn and is so tense. I had no idea how or even if they were going to get themselves out of this situation. The more I read the more I fell in love with poor damaged Callie and I adored her relationship with vet Dr Jerry. The characters are written so well and most of them aren’t particularly likable and make so many questionable decisions but they worked so well together. I have to admit the ending definitely made me cry. If you enjoyed The Good Daughter I thought this had similar vibes. Just be warned that this book has a TW for paedophilia, rape, abuse, drugs, mentions of covid and it is a tough read at times. I normally adore this series but this addition fell a bit short for me. Especially after having just finished the prequel about Daves life pre black rock falls (Lose your breath) which gave a real insight into his personality and who he is. The actual crime was very miss Marple with everyone snowed into a big hotel with bodies showing up and a killer amongst them. It wasn't the most gripping of the series but I didn't guess who it was and I enjoyed the chase. I mainly struggled with Jenna and Dave. They were both so immature the whole time and then it was up to jenna to try and fix things because Daves stubborn. I did however love seeing more of Wolfs daughters. I hope Jenna and Dave can communicate and get over themselves for the next book because I really do love this series. I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This is book 3 in the Kay Sharp series and man what a wild ride. I was definitely not prepared for the grand reveal and the motive behind it. The chapters from the killers POV and Julie’s POV really helped amp up the tension and it had me hooked until the very dramatic end. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the will they wont they thing between Kay and Elliot. I’m kinda over the 2 adults clearly like each other but refuse to communicate trope. That being said I hope we get to see more of this duo because I’m really enjoying the series. I receieved a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
