This book started pretty good and I was really enjoying it. I could look past Bree’s serious I’m not like other girls energy. I also loved Nate’s teammates and their interactions made me laugh. However it soon turned to cringe. I don’t understand how neither of them realised they liked each other. They were both so obvious about it and it had been 6 damn years. I did love that there wasn’t a third act breakup but wtf was that ending. Nate was way over the top. The anxiety and panic attack representation was pretty well done though. It’s also PG13 with just kissing if you are looking for a clean romance.
slow-paced

I love this authors Dr Harrison Lane series but I don't think this one is for me. This is the second book and I just can't gel with Saskia. I really struggle with her actions regarding her brother, David. Her protection of him seems both naive and stupid considering her education and job.

This book is also slow going with not much happening. There's a lot of information thrown at us with no real tension. There's definitely more tell than show. I didn't know who the killer was but I also didn't really care. There are also a lot of characters/suspects to keep straight.

I’ve really got to stop reading books that are hyped up on bookstagram. I am always left disappointed. I do not understand the hype around this book.

The small town is cute and there are some lovable characters. Logan is not one of them. He needed therapy not a girlfriend. He instantly falls in love with a woman he knows nothing about and then his inner monologue just whines about how she’s obvioulsy going to leave him when they aren’t even together yet. Insta love is my least favourite and the speed these two fall gave me the ick.

I also hate the miscommunication trope but this is ridiculous. One conversation could’ve solved everything. The mystery element gets forgotten and then it’s remembered near the end and is like oh yeah by the way this is who it was.

I’m also pretty sure no human blushes as much as the residents of Dream Harbour. Every interaction seemed to result in someone blushing. It is however a quick easy read and the town does give gilmore girl vibes as promised.

This was a sweet romance. I struggled a bit with Mallory because she has a huge chip on her shoulder and wasn’t overly likable in places. However, I did feel for her and it was so nice to see her fall back in love with chess. The chess was more interesting than expected and I enjoyed seeing the drama of the competitions. I do wish we got to actually see the world championship as we got so much build up for it. There are so many lovable side characters, especially Mallorys family. Her sisters are adorable. As for the romance, it’s a slow burn and cute. This is a YA read so it’s closed door and written well so you can still feel the chemistry. Although it wasn’t my favourite it was still an enjoyable read and I can see this being popular with younger readers.

This is a great series. I absolutely adore Mercy & Truman and their family. Ollie is such a lovable character and I loved getting to see a bit more of him. I was really rooting for Devin and it was so lovely seeing his friendship with Ollie bloom. I was so intrigued by what happened 20 years ago and the twists and turns kept me guessing. The ending was tense and full of drama. This can be read as a standalone but I love Kendra Elliots writing so definitely recommend checking out the rest.

This is the first book I’ve read from Elle Kennedy but I will definitely be reading her other linked series. This was such a great read and the dual POV is my favourite romance format. I loved Gigi and her family and I adored Ryder and his friends. There was some great banter which was entertaining and made me laugh. Gigi and Ryder are so cute together and I loved the found family. There are a lot of side characters to keep track of but they all add to the story and most of them are pretty lovable. I enjoyed the joining of the 2 rival teams and all the drama that came with it. Also a huge fan of there not being a dramatic 3rd act breakup. Still not fully sure how I felt about a certain event near the end but honestly I loved the ride enough to overlook it.

mysterious

I enjoyed the first in this series and somehow I missed book 2. Unfortunately, this one fell a bit flat for me. I thought the killer was so obvious which is a shame. It was also slow to get going and I had to make a conscious effort to pick it up. I did enjoy Lexi and her family although some of her actions were questionable. We still don’t get to see much of her team and I’d love to get to know them better. Overall it’s an okay police procedural with the suspense of who the next victim will be and if they’ll catch the killer in time.

3.5 stars

I think this might be my favourite crime series. I just adore Kim Stone and her team. Every new addition to the series is as good as the last and I fall more in love with the team. Keats was on form this book and I’m still expecting Stone and Frost to become besties. As usual the murder was gruesome and the hunt for the killer kept me guessing. I’d say I worked out the killer maybe 5 pages before it was revealed. My heart broke for Stacey and it was so interesting seeing how Kim reacted to the revelation of what she’d been going through. The twists and turns had me hooked and I couldn’t put it down. I think I finished it in two days.
