An atmospheric, dark & twisty thriller!⁣

Alice Feeney does it again! I loved

A cute second chance romance with witches, ghosts and curses gone awry!⁣

A fast-acting rabies like outbreak is taking over while two friends race against time to save an unborn baby ⁣

I really enjoyed that this book was fast paced and basically takes place in real time over the course of one night. It definitely added to the frantic feel of the story. We are thrown into the midst of this rabies like outbreak, kind of like waking up in the middle of a nightmare. ⁣

Natalie is pregnant and waiting for her husband to come home with provisions. Upon his return, he is attacked, bitten and killed by an infected person. As Natalie tries to help him, she is bitten too. Unfortunately, Natalie knows she doesn’t have much time to save her unborn baby so she sets out to get help from her best friend, Ramola, who is also a doctor. The story basically follows these two women as they try to save Natalie’s baby, amidst countless obstacles and horror movie worthy moments - including infected animals, crazy vigilantes and more but don’t fret, there are no zombies here! Just delusional humans prone to biting when infected by the rabies-like virus spread by saliva. ⁣

If you’re not opposed to pandemic, post-apocalyptic style horror - grab this one. It was a fast read and the audiobook narration was well done. I enjoyed it! ⁣

A disturbing thriller based on a true crime podcaster working a cold case⁣

First, let me just say that I enjoyed this book on audio immensely! It was very well done and I’m so glad I experienced it that way. I was completely immersed, as if I were listening to a true crime podcast. There were alternating chapters of podcast scripts, Elle’s POV and even peeks at the killer’s back story. Having the killer’s perspective always adds an extra layer of creepiness to the story that I’m a fan of. The killer was ritualistic and his murders were bone chilling. This one is definitely not for more sensitive readers but if you like dark and disturbing (like me!) - grab this one. ⁣

Elle Castillo is a former social worker turned true crime podcaster. She turns her attention to The Countdown Killer (TCK) after receiving a tip on the cold case and discovering a dead body. She begins to work as a consultant on the case of a missing girl and is convinced the case is tied to TCK, even though he’s been dormant for years. ⁣

This is a slower paced thriller that builds up with a sense of foreboding that I really enjoyed. I was definitely on edge as I listened! The plot was predictable, especially for seasoned thriller readers, but I didn’t mind that because I thoroughly enjoyed the ride this audiobook took me on. I haven’t seen this book around much and I definitely feel like it’s a debut that’s gone under the radar and needs more attention. I’ll definitely be watching for what Amy Suiter Clarke writes next!⁣

A heart breaking family drama about male sexual assault and its aftermath⁣

Wow, this book was intense! I haven’t read many books about male sexual assault and this one was done well. I felt for each family member. Caitlin Wahrer's writing really makes you feel like you are in the middle of all the emotion. This book is definitely a slow burn but the simmering plot is unflinching, uncomfortable (in a good way) and heart wrenching. ⁣

The audio narration was very well done. The only thing that would have made it better would have been having multiple narrators for the different characters POVs. Beware, this isn’t your ordinary thriller. It’s part family drama, part police procedural/mystery. I don’t shy away from saying that I am not a huge slow burn reader but this one really worked for me. It dealt with assault, trauma and emotions so well. It was impossible not to get caught up in it. I can’t wait to see where Caitlin Wahrer's writing takes us next! ⁣

Loved this finale! It is long but the audio really helped it go quickly. So glad I read this immediately after Blood & Honey because everything was fresh in my mind. Mahurin doesn’t really recap her plot points. There was a lot happening in this book and Lou and Reid’s love was tested and tested again. We had lots of fun banter and some pretty steamy moments amidst the fighting, possession and memory loss. This felt like a fitting, if albeit a bit long, conclusion to the trilogy and the ending left my heart happy. ⁣

After narrowly escaping death, our fave characters are now fugitives on the run from witches and chasseurs alike! Life on the run is fraught with danger and we get some backstory on Coco and Reid and insight into Lou’s power. Then, wham - a cliffhanger ending! I’m so glad I had book 3 to dive right into. This one was definitely my least fave of the series but I still enjoyed it overall.⁣
