This is the first novel I've read by Colleen Hoover, and I know it won't be my last now.

Wow. This was such a powerful story. I love how the complicated feelings of Lily's relationships were explored in both romance as well as familial. It was extremely well-written, and I didn't want to put it down because I wanted to know what happened next. I did have to take some breaks, though, because of some triggering abuse, but it didn't make me want to quit. It was an important story to tell, and it was done very, very well.

SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO 2022: AWARD-WINNING BOOK

Such an important book. Lily navigates trying to be a “good Chinese girl” in the 1950s while discovering her sexual identity and challenging transitional gender roles. I haven’t experienced a book like this before, and we need more of them.

Super cute continuation of the graphic novel Check, Please!

I really don’t know much about hockey, and I probably would have gotten more out of it if I had known more about the sport, but I was still able to enjoy the story. I was mainly there for the Bitty and Jack love story. It’s so cute and tender. And I loved that Bitty had to address some hard questions about himself in this sequel.

I'm a huge fan of Peter Pan, and I loved this adventurous retelling. There were specific twists to the J.M. Barrie story that I actually really loved (I won't write them here because of spoilers).

I didn't think much of the writing. I wasn't distracted by it in either a good or bad way. In that sense, I suppose it did it's job in keeping me engaged with the story. That being said, I found the book to be very plot-driven.

I will say that I had a hard time with
the romance between Peter and Wendy. I'm not really sure why. Perhaps I found it to be kind of forced? Lots of longing stares at bare-chested Peter. It just might have not been my thing. I'm sure other people really loved this.

I'd suggest this book for anyone that enjoys Peter Pan and retellings. It was a dark and mature twist to a already loved classic.

Read for Kid Book Club: Book with a One-Word Title.

I've read a few of Raina Telgemeier's books before, and they never disappoint me! It's honestly amazing how the author can portray complex relationships, feelings, and themes in a graphic novel for middle-grade readers.

I particularly loved Cat and related to her, seeing as I'm also a big sister who felt the need to protect younger siblings. Maya is just a ball of positive energy and so loveable.

I loved following along with Cat's feelings of loneliness, guilt, and sadness, and ultimately finding her way to acceptance and love at the end.

A great, quick mystery read. I understand why Agatha Christie is the queen of mystery. You never really know who the culprit is until the very end. You can keep guessing the entire time to read it, but nothing is solidified until the very, very end.

It took me quite a while to get into this book, and it wasn’t until the last half that I was invested in the story.

I don’t think I particularly liked any of the characters, unfortunately. There were lots of talk of “claiming” people, and many relationships were toxic, but I think that was the point. I was there for the story, though.

I’ve heard the second book in the series was better, so I’ll probably continue to the next one.
