Really enjoyed this one! As a reality TV enthusiast, it was nice to get a thorough deep dive into a genre I considered going into the workforce for. Also LOVED all the callouts to various shows, many of which I remember rewatching! It’s clear the author is passionate about this subject, which made it a joy to read. Would recommend to anybody who wants to look behind the certain on a decisive genre of television.

Hm! Well, this was somehow better than I expected, but also disappointing in other ways.

Fully transparency: I’ve never read a Patterson book in my life, but I’ll engage with any sort of media Dolly Parton has her names on, so, here we are.

I enjoyed the build up at the beginning of the book with the main character trying to find anyone to take a chance on her (did anyone else get Burlesque the movie vibes???) and having an established musician take her under her wing. That was fun.

Everything else around that was…. fine? I didn’t really live for any of the other characters, the drama, or the “action”. It was also just “meh” after an otherwise pretty good buildup.

You can tell Dolly’s life was loosely weaved into the book, so it was also fun to pick apart in that sense.

Avery introspective graphic novel about a complex yet real relationship. Picked this up on a whim from the library and I’m glad that I did!

I’m so mad I put this one off for so long!

What a cute story, really loved the characters and the exploration of identity. I’m so happy for queer kids who can see themselves reflected in media and might help them understand themselves a bit better. :)

Well!! This isn’t what I was expecting, but I was into it! Haven’t read anything like it, especially such a character driven story. AND it’s a debut? I’m impressed! Can’t wait to see what this author does next.

UgghGhhghhgh, so frustrating!

Conventionally yours was one of my fave books of the year when I read it. This one was a huge let down for me.

Everything I liked about the first book was missing from this one: fun road trip, believable and likable romance, fun ensemble cast.

I did enjoy the writing, and I was mostly entertained throughout, but I did end up missing the cast of characters from the Conventionally Yours too much to not compare.

Not the worst, not the best, may have enjoyed more if I hadn’t loved the first book sooooo much. (you don’t need to read the first book to read this one)

Cute little story about a huge disaster! Cool to visualize something that my parents actually experienced so long ago. Many young readers would enjoy! Easy read.

Huh, I’m very mixed about this one!

So; I really enjoyed the descriptiveness of the Alaskan wilderness, those parts I think were the strongest part of the book.

I think what this book lacked for me was some sense of direction, I wasn’t particularly connecting with the author’s story or purpose for being where he was, or the choices he was making.

Also, though Woody the dog would have played a MUCH bigger part of the story,
and was VERY emotional when he disappeared and was never found. :(

Overall, happy to have read a locally published book, and learn a little bit more about the Alaskan wilderness!

Oooh what a fun ride! I don’t mind a simple thriller, something you can digest without feeling overwhelmed and that made this an enjoyable read for me.

Loved the setting, it felt very vivid, and the last chunk of the book really turned up the pace and had me rooting for the main character!

Some of the main character’s choices were VERY questionable, so some disbelief had to be suspended, but at least their choices were well written.

Would recommend for the casual thriller reader! Those who are obsessed with the genre I could see tearing into this book, buy I’m just hear for the spooky vibes.

Def curious to check out Sagers other work!
