Super informative! I wish it had dived just a BIT deeper, but enjoyed the overview of cults and all things cult-ish.

For sure not the story I was expecting!

My favorite aspects of this book was the representation, and the deep discussions that were super informative as a reader, can’t say I’ve ever read characters like our two main protagonists.

This book is super dialogue heavy, so I sometimes forgot what the actual plot was, and the magical realism maybe could have been fleshed out a bit more, more been a bit more descriptive .

But overall, such a well crafted story that many people will be able to see themselves in!

Gorgeous, gorgeous book.

Well written, with clearly so much care put behind the words of the narrative. I am not from the south myself, but I learned so much!

The book is almost poetic in a sense, a wide range of readers would appreciate this story.

Could have been shorter in some parts, it was a LONG book, but other than that, I emphatically enjoyed.

Oh wow, this was a dense one.

I really enjoyed a lot of things about this book, and I would def feel differently about this if I was a queer Chinese woman, so for that alone I am so happy this book exists today.

The first third and last third of the book I think we’re the strongest, but the middle is where I lost the most interest and think could have been more concise. The last part of the story was the most thrilling and kept my attention the most.

Overall, an excellent story, and important read for so, so many people.

I mean, it's bad, but was I entertained? Absolutely.

Never read anything like it, check trigger warnings, because........... yeah.

Hm, kind of let down by this one, while I enjoyed many things like:

the mental health rep, jewish rep, teen pregnancy discussions, seattle locations, gay brother

The end of the book kind of fell apart, once they key conflict didn’t lead anywhere, the rest of the book seemed desperate to find an alternate ending.

Not my fave Rachel Lynn Solomon book, curious to see what she does next!

Booooooo, not a fan. I don’t fee like this book accomplished what it wanted to in its short run time, maybe would have been better if the story had a chance to allow us to get to know the characters so you had a reason to care about anybody in this story.

I was engaged throughout the story, but wouldn’t revisit.

I really enjoyed this! Nice and quick memoir by an iconic drag superstar. Learned lots.

I do wish that the pictures more closely matched the time period that were being referenced in the book at that time.

Overall, would recommend to anyone who is a fun of drag!
