astridandlouise's Reviews (665)

well sorry to say Michael, but the third book was definitely better than the second! it was slightly different to the first two books, but i found the pace to be much better than the second and that the storyline line was a lot more fluid in the second book.

unlike other reviews i've read regarding this book, i didn't cry. not even close. someone had to bite the bullet and it wasn't who i thought it would or should have been but shit happens. Katniss still gave me the shits but i'm happy with the way the book ended and who she ended up with.

definitely a good trilogy, but the first book is the most definitely the obvious standout.

I really wanted to rate this book higher, but as it took me so long to read, and dragged a little I really couldn't justify a higher rating.

I enjoyed the storyline although I did have moments of confusion in some parts, but I think that was mainly attributed to the fact that it did take me so long to read. I think that it was one of those books that my heart really wanted to be in, but my head suffered with understanding why.

I would recommend it to others, especially if they're fans of fiction with futuristic fantasist tones. I can't say that I've read anything like it before, mainly as fantasy isn't usually my cup of tea. I did feel that Mitchell though wove a delicate story with intricate patterns that I highly appreciated. A good book, but one that unfortunately didn't grasp and hold my attention enough.

wish that the ending wasn't so abrupt & didn't leave so many unanswered questions.

Doesn't have the same sincronicity and flow that murakami's later works have - something he has obviously perfected over the course of his career. It was a little disjointed and stilted for my liking.

(I read a PDF of which I found online)

the beginning half of this book did not compel me like the second half of this book did. so well written, Groff uses the English language to weave intricate wordily spells. beautiful. loved it.
