What happens when you are magically transported back into the past to help your mom win Homecoming Queen? Well Samantha Kang is about to find out! Sam has never gotten along with her mother Priscilla, they have always been opposites and never could see eye to eye. Sam does however, get along with her grandmother.... despite the fact that Priscilla has a horrible relationship with her mom. When Sam’s grandma gets a heart attack and ends up in a coma, Sam gets into a huge fight with her mom that ends with her screaming she hates her mother and her mother leaving her stranded. So Sam calls a rideshare... which then magically transports her back to highschool... in the 90′s with a 17-year old Priscilla. Sam has to figure out how to make her mom win homecoming Queen to help the future version of her mom, as well as figure out what went wrong with Priscilla and her mom’s relationship. Yet the more time sam spends with Priscilla the more she begins to understand the pressure and strain she was under and that maybe they can see eye to eye. Along the way she gets to spend time with her grandmother, a cute boy who just can’t seem to leave her alone, and plan a winning prom campaign. This was such a fun and cute read. It definitely lived up to the “The Joy Luck Club meets back to the Future” with a splash of romance, some fun prom shenanigans, and tons of heartfelt moments. Seriously, add this to your TBR!

When you are rescued by a beautiful woman from a bear ready to tear you apart, you tend to fall for her a bit. Teagan can Zijil is at a resort, after being hospitalized for panic attacks two years after his mother’s death and being the executive of a chritable foundation that just keeps losing money... he is stressed and nervous and not really taking care of himself. His sister drags him to the wilderness therapy retreat in Montana in hopes that it’ll help both of them. But then Teagan gets lost in the woods and is nearly eaten by a bear when he is suddenly rescued by an angel, or rather by the program’s handywoman, Darcy Albano. Darcy is very capable and dreams about doing something more, she’s been in the Navy and has worked the wilderness retreat, she wants to do more except things just have not been going her way, from her ex stealing her car to her parents ruining her credit score. Yet after saving Teagan he hires her to be his sober companion... except for the fact that he isn’t an alcoholic and he hasn’t told her. This is the perfect chance for Darcy to not only work on what she wants to do in the future but also to find possible love with the gorgeous guy she rescued. But Darcy isn’t a city girl and Teagan has so many secrets. Can these two make it work? This was definitely an interesting story and definitely had me curious how it was going to end. While I did enjoy Darcy and Teagan falling for one another I did have a couple issues with the fact that they had a relationship despite Darcy being his literal sober companion and not getting that there have to be clear professional lines???? Also the way mental health was portrayed in this one was.... iffy. Like I love that there was some portrayal and that it really stresses on the importance of working on yourself and that there will be people who will support you and love you throughout your process, but at the same time, it could have been done better. Overall, it was a pretty cute story about two people who survive a bear attack and find themselves falling for each other and in a very strange relationship.

When you accidentally convince the bride to leave the alter... and then fall for said runaway bride, you know life’s going to be complicated. Lizzie dreams about opening up her own gym but for now she is working at a gym and wants the promotion that could help her get a start on her dreams. She works with her best friend James, the son of the gym’s owners who got her the job. When James begs her to go with him to his sister’s wedding she can’t help but cave despite how much she doesn’t want to. At said wedding she meets a cute girl in the restroom who is crying and asking for relationship advice, so Lizzie gives it to her: don’t be in a relationship if you are not in love and just break it off.... and what does said girl do? Well she does break it off, right at the alter, and now Lizzie know’s she’s screwed. Whats Lizzie didn’t realize that said girl was the bride and she just ruined her bosses’s kid’s wedding and she knows if her bosses ever found out she would be fired. What she didn’t expect was to keep running into the runaway bride, Cara, and that Cara would want to spend more time with her. What starts off as just friendly run in soon turns into dates and something more, but with so many secrets and Lizzie having to deal with Cara’s family, can she continue to let herself be stepped over or will she finally stand up for herself and what she deserves. I want to start off by saying this started off really cute and I was so excited but by the end of the book I was just irritated and honestly, none of these people deserve Lizzie, I wanted so much more for her. Lizzie is a great friend and is so sweet, but James and Cara, as well as Cara’s parents and Lizzie’s parents, were just bad for her, James is a terrible friend and Cara was just spoiled and honestly they were all kind of toxic for her. In Lizzie’s words: they are all the worst people she’s ever met and I just wanted the book to end off with her going after her dreams and finding someone else to love her and finding other friends cuz this aint it babe. Honestly the way that Lizzie lets herself be stepped on and used is just sad to read and I was so happy for her when she finally voiced her opinions and spoke up for herself. But in the end, I guess Cara is who Lizzie wants and that’s it. Overall it’s a cute romance. sort of, and if you like stories about a rich girl and a poor girl falling for each other than this might be for you.

A dark inspired Eros & Psyche story featuring a lawyer and a mafia princess and a marriage of convenience. Ariana Ricci is a girl with demons, abused and haunted by her mother’s actions, living a life that she can’t control, and the only thing she’s ever loved was her ballet... which she was forced to give up. She’s been conditioned to expect every single interaction with someone to have a cost, that nobody would do anything without taking or wanting something from her. When she is accidentally auctioned off and then forced into a very real marriage, its to the person she least expect, Cash Primrose. Cash is a lawyer who wants nothing more than to absorb the Ricci empire into his own, and for some strange reason from the moment he lays eyes on Ariana she’s the only thing he’s ever wanted. Cash doesn’t date, he doesn’t do relationships, but he finds himself completely obsessed with Ariana. He does the most out of character thing that surprises even himself, he buys her, He reasons that its just to get her family business... but theres a sudden want to give her everything she wants, to protect her from anyone who would harm her both emotionally or physically, and to kill anyone who even touches her. Cash may be a lawyer but he’s willing to do anything for Ariana, and yet Ariana herself is after revenge, she wants to take back what was taken from her, she wants to finally find some semblance of freedom. Both Ariana and Cash are playing a twisted game of want and touch, they’re both hurt and are both monsters within their own right but maybe together they can begin to heal and be exactly what the other needs. This is the fifth book in the series, and I had fun getting to know Cash and Ariana, and oh boy did Ariana have demons in her life. I was so happy she got her own happy ending and that everything worked out for her in the end!
When a servant girl finds herself becoming one of the kingdom’s greatest warrior blessed by the Saint of War, she begins to question what her destiny truly is and what it means to love someone. What does it mean to love someone, does it mean being with them through everything, sacrificing everything for them? A girl will discover what it means to love and be loved in this absolutely breathtaking and gorgeous story on love and loyalty. I had an absolute blast reading this one, it’s a short story but it has some gorgeous lines and does pact an emotional punch, and that ending? GOSH THAT ENDING. I LOVED IT SO MUCH.
Two best friends find themselves trying to not only take the next step in their relationship but also deal with family drama. Alexis Carlisle owns a cat cafe, and became famous when she came forward as a victim of a celebrity chef’s sexual harassment. One day a new customer approaches her and reveals she is actual her sister and that she wants Alexis to donate her kidney to her father, a man who has been absent Alexis’s entire life and despite knowing about her for three years never contacted her until now, when he needs her kidney. Noah Logan is a computer genius and former hacker who is now a computer security expert. Noah is madly in love with Alexis and they are best friends, after everything thats happened to her he’s been trying to time his confession to be right. With the help of his Bromance Book Club they’ll help him how to go from friend to boyfriend. Yet Alexis is dealing with all this new family drama and deciding if she is ready to take the next step with Noah. Can they decode their friendship and move into a relationship? Honestly this one just was not for me, I didn’t really feel their chemistry and I just didn’t really like Alexis all that much. I especially did not enjoy the kidney transplant storyline and how easily Alexis was willing to give her kidney to a man who never cared about her, who never loved her, and how she was just so ready to accept it all. Like why??? This man never went out of his way to contact you or your mother, he never tried to build a relationship with you until it was convenient for him and even then he wasn’t treating her that great. Seriously, why?? It just did not sit well with me at all. Despite me not enjoying this one, I definitely would give other books in the series a go, this one just didn’t interest or work for me at all though.
What happens when you are recruited to be part of your favorite band and suddenly find yourself leaving your small town life to move to LA and become a rockstar? Well eighteen year old Kyla Bell is about to find out. When she randomly ends up opening for a band she is then asked to join her favorite band Glitter Tears by the gorgeous rocker Ruby Sky, This is Kyla’s chance to make her dreams come true and she can’t pass it up, even if it means dropping out of high school and moving to Los Angeles. Kyla soon finds out that being a rocker isn’t all it’s cracked up to be especially when it comes to drugs, drama, and trying to be yourself when you are already trying to be someone else. She’ll find herself doing things and drugs she never imagined, trying to fit into the rocker lifestyle while dealing with the complicated feelings she has for Ruby and defining her own sexuality while realizing that not everything is as glamorous as it seems and that the music scene is cut throat. This one just fell flat for me, honestly I went into it blind hoping I would enjoy it more that way but found that I really didn’t care all that much for Kyla’s musician journey into being a LA Rocker. Honestly, even the ending of the book was so meh. This just missed the mark and unfortunately I didn’t care for it as much. The relationship drama, the music drama, and all of it was just eh. Overall, this one just missed the mark for me but if you are looking for a story about a young musician trying to make it in the 90′s music scene in Los Angeles, give it a go, maybe you’ll have a better time with it than me.

A modern day rom com inspired by Jane Eyre with a dash of musician lifestyle. Jane Start is thirty-three, broke, and recently single. She was famous for her one hit wonder song but now she’s got nothing. So when her manager sends her to London to refresh she finds herself falling for the attractive stranger named Tom Hardy (not THAT Tom) who is an Oxford professor of Literature. Tom and Jane instantly hit it off but something is off about Tom, from his mysterious phone calls, his past relationships, and trips... can Jane trust him or will she flew away when she discovers his secrets? Jane is here to work on her second chance at stardom but will romance get in the way? This definitely DEFINITELY is Jane Eyre inspired. If you’re a fan of the original I think you might enjoy this modern day take on it, as for me, I just kind of found it boring and found all of Tom’s red flags so ugh. I was hoping a modern take on the original story would fair better for me since I didn’t really enjoy the original but alas, neither did this modern day one work for me. Seriously Jane, you move in with a guy after two weeks, he’s got red flags up to here, and you find out that he dropped his engagement, he had a whole FIANCEE THAT HE JUST LEFT after meeting you???? GIRL WHY. While it didn’t work for me maybe it’ll work for you!

He’s a cupid who doesn’t think love is real.... until he meets the one person who has me rethinking everything. Valentine “Val” loathes Valentine’s day, he thinks love doesn’t exist but he’s great at his job. Cupids are forbidden from falling in love, but as someone who doesn’t believe in love, it shouldn’t be a problem.... that is until he meets Pyro. Pyro is a Dragon and a Santa, he’s lived a life of solitude and is just looking for someone to get the edge off, nothing serious. Yet from the moment Val and Pyro lay eyes on each other at a party they know there is a fire burning between them. The real question is, is it real love or will one of them run away before not give it a chance at all? Pyro is only looking for a no strings attached relationship but the moment he gets a bit of Val he knows he wants more... the only problem is that Val himself has issues about love and convincing Val to give into the real feelings between them is going to be. a lot of work. How can you convince a Cupid who doesn’t believe in love to fall in love with you? Pyro has his work cut out. This was such a cute and naughty read, I adored that we also got to see the events leading up to Val and Pyro meeting and then the after, especially since we get to see Xo and Arson again too! The relationship between Val and Pyro was cute, I especially adored how firm Pyro is about being verbal with what they’re both comfortable with and being upfront and clear about their limits and expectations as well as consent. Seriously nothing is sexier than being thoughtful, making clear and firm rules as well as asking for consent and laying out aftercare. Pyro was a 10/10 love interest. I seriously hope Maeve Black writes more about the other characters ( I am looking at you Dio and Dulce and of course the other two dragons Cinder and Blaze)!!
