What happens when you are magically transported back into the past to help your mom win Homecoming Queen? Well Samantha Kang is about to find out! Sam has never gotten along with her mother Priscilla, they have always been opposites and never could see eye to eye. Sam does however, get along with her grandmother.... despite the fact that Priscilla has a horrible relationship with her mom. When Sam’s grandma gets a heart attack and ends up in a coma, Sam gets into a huge fight with her mom that ends with her screaming she hates her mother and her mother leaving her stranded. So Sam calls a rideshare... which then magically transports her back to highschool... in the 90′s with a 17-year old Priscilla. Sam has to figure out how to make her mom win homecoming Queen to help the future version of her mom, as well as figure out what went wrong with Priscilla and her mom’s relationship. Yet the more time sam spends with Priscilla the more she begins to understand the pressure and strain she was under and that maybe they can see eye to eye. Along the way she gets to spend time with her grandmother, a cute boy who just can’t seem to leave her alone, and plan a winning prom campaign. This was such a fun and cute read. It definitely lived up to the “The Joy Luck Club meets back to the Future” with a splash of romance, some fun prom shenanigans, and tons of heartfelt moments. Seriously, add this to your TBR!
