This Bird Has Flown
by Susanna Hoffs
A modern day rom com inspired by Jane Eyre with a dash of musician lifestyle. Jane Start is thirty-three, broke, and recently single. She was famous for her one hit wonder song but now she’s got nothing. So when her manager sends her to London to refresh she finds herself falling for the attractive stranger named Tom Hardy (not THAT Tom) who is an Oxford professor of Literature. Tom and Jane instantly hit it off but something is off about Tom, from his mysterious phone calls, his past relationships, and trips... can Jane trust him or will she flew away when she discovers his secrets? Jane is here to work on her second chance at stardom but will romance get in the way? This definitely DEFINITELY is Jane Eyre inspired. If you’re a fan of the original I think you might enjoy this modern day take on it, as for me, I just kind of found it boring and found all of Tom’s red flags so ugh. I was hoping a modern take on the original story would fair better for me since I didn’t really enjoy the original but alas, neither did this modern day one work for me. Seriously Jane, you move in with a guy after two weeks, he’s got red flags up to here, and you find out that he dropped his engagement, he had a whole FIANCEE THAT HE JUST LEFT after meeting you???? GIRL WHY. While it didn’t work for me maybe it’ll work for you!
