A great mix of tones from Heartstopper (sweet) and Solitaire (emotional).

I can't believe Alice wrote this at 19. If you asked me to write a novel about 16 year old me as a freshman in college, it certainly wouldn't look like this.

While I don't relate to living the life of a British school girl or with Tori's personal mental health struggles, I was still moved by the themes in this book. I find Tori very interesting and honestly, hilarious. Her dark humor and constant contradictions kept me on my toes throughout the whole story. While also leaving me at the ends of chapters frustrated, like a good unreliable narrator does.

On my darkest days I can related to how Tori thinks and how she processes her emotions. She feels very real and I am so happy to see Jenny Walser bring her to life in Heartstopper. Jenny narrates the audiobook and if you are having a hard time grasping Tori's voice and tone, I recommend listening.

While the tone is quite different than the Heartstopper graphic novels, Solitaire feels like a necessary read to not only understand Tori but Charlie, the whole Spring family, Nick, and even Ben Hope as well.

*Absolutely read the content/trigger warnings before reading*

I just LOVE Rebecca Ross’ writing style. It’s poetic without being pretentious. She is becoming one of my favorite authors to listen to. I thoroughly enjoyed A River Enchanted and after hearing all the buzz for this novel, it didn’t take me long to pick it up.

I loved the world Divine Rivals was set in. It is fantastical without being complicated and I am very excited to learn more in book 2.

Iris and Roman have a classic love story. While I found it to all happen a bit fast, I am rooting for them and hope they find their way back to each other.

This was a great book to use when trying to get over a ready slump, especially with the audio book.

It was super easy to follow and a fun mystery.

Wow! This story was handled with such care. It really proves how vital trans representation is.

The story was riveting, romantic, and heart warming. It had the workings of all the great Victorian love stories but felt fresh and spicier. All the characters were lovely and multidimensional. My only criticism was that it was a little long, however I’d still recommend it to anyone.

Rogue One is my favorite SW movie so I eagerly picked up this book. Unfortunately, it fell very flat to me. I realized my favorite parts of Rogue One are Jyn and Cassian and without them, this story is not very interesting. I was really hoping to see a different side of Krennic but nother really surpised me about his actions. Overall, this was meh.

I am so sad to be ending my reread of this trilogy! No other YA dystopian novel does it quite like this. Suzanne Collins has created a masterpiece. I am very excited to reread The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes now. I would love for her to continue writing in this world.

Mockingjay feels very different from the first two in the trilogy. I believe this is because the stakes don’t feel as high without an arena (until the last part) and the lack of scenery. Katniss is in 13 for almost all of the first two parts which stunts the plot a bit but causes us to really live inside Katniss’ head. I was surprised by how muted the deaths of important character felt in this book. I suppose I was waiting for the theatrics that they gave us in the movie. When I stepped away from the films, Katniss’ reaction did feel authentic to her and when I read it for the first time I’m sure I was very shocked by them.

This was, through and through, a war book. Luckily, we do get to see Katniss have a future without war, games, or violence. I do appreciate that in the epilogue, she does still remind the reader that the nightmares still come and that her children will one day need to know of what their parents went through. It felt real and authentic just like our main character. I will miss her dearly!

*Side note: you’re literally wild if you’re Team Gale after reading this.*

This is exactly how it feels to watch a whole arc of The Clone Wars series.

The hype for this book was absolutely correct and it really scratched the itch I've had since finishing TCW. I'm so happy we get to see where Asajj Ventress ends up while getting to live inside her head. She is an astounding character and I live for her morally grey nature.

Quinlan Voss was a wonderful surprise. Without giving away big spoilers, I feel as though Quinlan granted us a look at how Anakin might have ended up if he had made different decisions. It also reveals even more evidence that the Jedi council was off their rocker during this war; excluding only Obi-Wan and Yoda. Their blind decision making is actually unnerving but gives reason to some of their actions in Revenge of the Sith.

Overall, this book had a great plot and wonderful character development while tying up story lines from other SW projects.
