This was great! Ahsoka is such an amazing character and I enjoyed getting to live inside her head.

This bridged the Ahsoka gap between Clone Wars and Rebels, which I loved! Also it shows her getting her new lightsabers which had me gasping! She’s such a top tier SW character. I can’t wait for the show!

You just know you’re in for a cozy read as soon as you pick up a TJ Klune book, and In The Lives of Puppets was no exception.

I love how he writes dialogue, always funny and heart warming. His characters are unmatched and always complete a full arc by the end of the story. I also loved the ace rep!

This story was packed with adventure, more than his other two adult novels and I really enjoyed that change. Something about this one, however, was hard to get into and it didn’t leave me with the same feeling of awe as the other two. That didn’t keep my from enjoying it at all and will miss the characters deeply - especially Nurse Ratched and Rambo!

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It had some of the best depictions of friendship of any book I’ve read. That did make it irritating at times because the characters drove me a little crazy, which real friends can do too.

This book was insanely hyped up for me which did do it a disservice and explains the rating. I liked this book so much but it didn’t blow me away like I thought it would and that’s okay! It was also incredibly sad and I was not expecting that…

My local bookstore is starting a series of book clubs by genre and this is their first for the adult graphic novel meeting.

This is the first series of comics I’ve finished and I really enjoyed it! I loved the more adult themes and the conversation surrounding mental health and escapism was great. I do have a hard time following comics but I think if I read more I will be able to pick up on devices used specially in this medium.

Not only was it led by a obsessive, annoying fmc but there were no twists and no surprise ending. Most books about a murder are picked up because it's either creepy and disturbing or there is a fun mystery to be solved...This had none of that.

During my first read if this trilogy, Catching Fire became my favorite. And while most people find the first part to be very slow, I find it to be structured perfectly and completely necessary for what is to come in parts 2 & 3. I found part 1 to be filled with interesting facts about District 12, the Games, and Panem in general. For someone doing a reread, these make for a much more interesting read.

As soon as the Quarter Quell rules are announced, the story ramps up. I love seeing Katniss finally start to weigh the options between running away versus staying to join the rising rebellion. For a 17 year old girl, it’s an insane decision but she handles it without being rash. Twill and Bonnie definitely shake her and she starts to realize the scope of the rebellion and the part she might play in it. Their meeting was one of my favorite differences from the movie. I also loved the time we spent getting to know the victors, especially Finnick.

Having the third part start with Cinna’s death really sets the stakes for part 3. Collins created such an interesting arena and it is one of the reasons this book is my favorite. The obstacles in each section of the “clock” are terrifying. Collins is excellent at describing a horrific event. Along with Katniss, you are constantly asking yourself you can be trusted and why these other victors have aligned with her and Peeta. All seems under control until the climax at the end of part 3 which just leads to more questions.

I am excited to reread Mockingjay because it is the book I remember the least. I am not, however, excited to go through Peeta’s whole arc in this book…rather just skip that…

This audio performance puts all others to shame. Marc Thompson is a very talented narrator. Mix his talents with awesome sound effects, John Williams' SW score, and steady background noise, it created a beautiful soundscape.

The story, while having very exciting moments, didn't keep my attention as much as I was hoping for. Fantasy is hard to read in the audio format because of all the characters (some with weird names) and the world building so in terms of plot, listening to this might have weakened my rating. However, this is the first of The High Republic series so I am hoping to get used to recurring characters.

Viola is the definition of perseverance and pure talent. She clawed out of a difficult childhood and young adulthood by her bootstraps and is now one of the most well known actresses in the world. I am simply amazed by her.

Definitely listen to the audio book of this!

I definitely understand the appeal for this book and while it was sweet, I just don’t think found family is a favorite trope of mine.

The relationships between the characters were so interesting and very well written. Unfortunately, a major relationship in this book was the one between Lillian and Madison and I could not get over how annoying Madison was. I simply did not understand her motivations and kept begging Lillian to leave her in the dust.

The children were funny and charming and appreciated the happy, wrapped up ending. A great book to listen to.
