😶 WELL... this book took a turn I did NOT see coming and left me quite speechless.
Can we normalize getting mental health evaluations for children like once a year or something?
Also, what was that ending?? You cannot end your book like that, it's not fair! T_T) I need resolution, damn it!
It was a pretty decent story, twisted in a way I didn't see coming. Most of the book was spent like 🫨 while thinking, "Holy shit this person is nuts!" It was an intriguing listen and, if the ending had been more satisfying, it would have been a 5. As it stands, though, the ending felt like it was just kind of thrown on there. There's no real resolution.

This is a cute little Hercule Poirot story that will make you smile. I know he's a detective and we come here to see him solve murders, but I wish we had more stories of him just relaxing and enjoying himself.
Lighthearted adventures into the every day life of Hercule Poirot is now one of my favorite things.

This book through me for a loop! The murder was solved fairly quickly and very easily which left me feeling confused. I was disappointed and found myself asking, "Is that it? Is it over now? What the fuck, where are the demons?!"
Then the story picked up with the second murder and everything shifted! It was no longer a cozy little murder mystery, it was a demonic possession trapped under a dome murder mystery! It was well written with pretty decent characters and a unique, interesting plot. A nice twist on the typical genre.
Also the demon cat is the best boy, of course.

For a quick listen or for a child, this book isn't bad. It speeds through listing different cats while not really giving you a chance to admire said cat before moving on to the next. It lacks... substance, I suppose. Though, if it's a book for a child, I can't blame it.

Listen, I said this about the movies and I'm gonna say it about the books, too...
I don't care about Frodo's journey. I just don't. I'm so invested in the journey of the others, it's fun and exciting and interesting. But when it goes back to Frodo's part... it's just so boring to me and it feels like it drags on and on. I don't know why I feel this way. I don't hate Frodo or Sam.
Quite the opposite, really. Their friendship warms my heart and makes me smile. I adore how much Sam cares about Frodo. I can feel the bond, the love, the warmth between them. It's the strong kind of friendship that can't be broken, the kind that gives me hope. And yet... I just can't bring myself to be interested in their part of the story.
It's so strange to me since Frodo has the most important bit. He is the "chosen one," the main character who can save everyone. Yet his journey is just boring to me.
Also, the part where Gandalf confronts Wormtongue and the king felt lackluster. It lacked the power such a scene should have possessed. Maybe I'm just biased because the movie scene was epic as hell. Maybe you can't even take a book scene and make it have that much punch, or maybe it was the narrator's fault. I don't know.
Speaking of the narrator, I think he did a really fantastic job here. His different voices are so well done that I thought this book had a full cast. I kept forgetting it's just one guy lol
Another epic book by an epic author.
