I appreciated the style of writing and how the plot keeps you hooked and turning pages but it wasn't one of my favorite book nor I cared for the character.
The author is an excellent storyteller but the plot didn't surprise me and the characters were a bit too much in the grey area to be memorable.
I think a lot of people will love it but it wasn't my cup of tea.

It's not easy to review this book as it's a mix of genre that mixes sci-fi, women's fiction, historical ficiton and deals with a serious topic like mental health.
It's emotionally charged and brings you to some unexplored places like ereditary trauma in a plot where time is a just an accident and past&present mixes.
I loved these women, I felt for them and rooted for them.
It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last.
Highly recommended.

I'm diabetic and my brother in law is disabled. My sister is in charge of my brother in law who can be stubborn, cantankerous, and simply impossible at times. We've got a cat not a dog and no one is getting a divorce but I can say that the descriptions and the relationship dynamic in this book were very realistic.
I loved this story that stroke near home and made me feel for Ginny and Maggie. I felt like a mirroring of some situations I lived and I was moved and smiled.
The author is a good storyteller, the characters and the plot are well developed.
Highly recommended.

There's a lot of potential in this book and the premises are quite exciting. Unfortunately it's also very slow and my mind was often wandering.
Not my cup of tea.

I read 4 books in these series and the characters were like old friends, the type of friends you are happy to meet and catch up with them.
This is the last book and I had to say goodbye to these characters and this places. It was also one of the most emotionally charged and poignant. It moved to tears, made me smile, kept me hooked and turning pages.
Queenie is a great character, a strong woman who face a lot in her life and her relationship with Father Mahon dates to a shared past in Ireland.
Their story is the main plot in this compelling book, but we also meet the other member of the Brogan clan. The past and the future plays a relevant role in this book, and it was the excellent closure of a good series I loved.
Highly recommended.

I wanted to read it for the cover, I read it for the plot and it was love at first pages as I loved Julia and the garden.
I'm a keen gardener and those descriptions of flowers and gardens made me happy. The mystery made me happier as it's well plotted and full of surprises. I guessed the culprit but i couldn't guess the motive and it was a surprise.
Julia is a great character: she's a mature woman who's using her life experience to investigate and to manage her dog.
Jake is a lovely dog and a quite realistic one: cozy mystery pets are usually perfect; you dream of owning/being owned by one of those perfect pets. Jake is a not-such-a-good-boy and i couldn't help loving this underdog in dog format.
The setting is lovely, made me wish i could go for a walk there, and the characters are quirky and likeable.
It's the promising start of a new cozy series and I can't wait to read the next book.
Highly recommended.

This is one of those book that you start and then you are at 40% and you didn't realize time passed as you were lost in the pages.
All the books in this series are very good but this one is off chart as it's enthralling, gripping, with the right level of creepiness and horror.
There's always an element of Irish folklore or history at the core of the story and in this case it was some historical facts of Dublin history. It was fascinating to read about them and i learned something new.
There's often a sense of dread in this story, an unknown menace and I felt it more in this book than in the other.
This is a series that balances elements of horror and thriller and makes them work very well
The story is fast paced and it must be fast paced as it talks about a race to save a child from her kidnapper.
This is just a part as there's a lot more.
The twists and the solution were unexpected and the author surprised me till the last page.
Now I must read the next story as the last page was a huge surprise.
I strongly recommend this book. it can be read as a stand alone but it's better to read the rest of the series.

This is an excellent book, a page turner that kept me hooked till the last page.
I felt for the characters, was intrigued by the mystery, and root for Alice and Iris.
It's YA because the MCs and other characters involved in the investigation are teenagers but the mystery is excellent, full of twists, and kept me guessing.
It's a mystery but it's also a story of solitude, of how adults don't listen or simply don't care for what the younger people are saying.
Nobody is caring about the disappearance of a teen ager, nobody cared for Iris when she denounced abused.
Alice run away, came back but nobody listened to her and her parents are filling the voids with very expensive presents.
Adults simply don't listen and they care even less as these are young women.
I loved the idea of two young detective inspired by Agatha Christie and I loved their stories and the storytelling.
It's a book that should be read by adults and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Highly recommended.

I love this series because it makes me travelling back in time to Hollywood Golden Age.
It's another well plotted whodunit that kept me hooked and guessing.
The historical background is vivid and the characters, both fictional and real, are well developed.
It was an entertaining read that i thoroughly enjoyed.
Highly recommended.
