annarella 's review for:
Her Child's Cry
by S.A. Dunphy
This is one of those book that you start and then you are at 40% and you didn't realize time passed as you were lost in the pages.
All the books in this series are very good but this one is off chart as it's enthralling, gripping, with the right level of creepiness and horror.
There's always an element of Irish folklore or history at the core of the story and in this case it was some historical facts of Dublin history. It was fascinating to read about them and i learned something new.
There's often a sense of dread in this story, an unknown menace and I felt it more in this book than in the other.
This is a series that balances elements of horror and thriller and makes them work very well
The story is fast paced and it must be fast paced as it talks about a race to save a child from her kidnapper.
This is just a part as there's a lot more.
The twists and the solution were unexpected and the author surprised me till the last page.
Now I must read the next story as the last page was a huge surprise.
I strongly recommend this book. it can be read as a stand alone but it's better to read the rest of the series.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
