I want to thank Chelsea Sedoti and Sourcefire books for an ARC of this book.
We enter a unique storytelling world in "Tell Me What Really Happened.' You have four high schoolers: Petra and Nolan (step-siblings), John, and Abigail. They are all speaking in first-person police interviews about the disappearance of their common friend (well, not really Nolan, but the other three for sure) Maylee.
I thought this was fast paced, the multi-povs happen within each chapter, which makes the dialogue snappy and quick. However, this also leaves some bits and pieces of the book to our imagination, which some readers can enjoy, but I personally like everything to be wrapped up explicitly in my standalone thriller/mystery books.
Each one of our four high schoolers has a unique perspective on Maylee and each bring a different history. You never know what they truly believe and what's a lie. I was kept on my toes the entire time and would highly recommend this book if you're looking to get out of a thriller slump. With the unique formatting, fast paced storytelling, and the four completely different personalities we me, it was an enjoyable read.

I thought this was a beautiful blend of fantasy and sci-fi! I am excited about the rest of the series. HOWEVER, this book (and I've heard this from others) for some reason, this book feels like it's a 800 page book when really it's around 500 pages.
We follow Voya, a witch hiding among a society of genetic modification, cool future tech, and she has her Calling (coming of age ceremony) right around the corner. Her calling is the most challenging calling any witch has seen in ages.
She must be able to make decisions not only for herself but for those she has known for years and those she grows to love. Again, I really enjoyed the entire premise of the book, but it almost felt like it dragged. I'm curious to see where the second book goes!

I really thought this book was like the Hunger Games...it is definitely not like the Hunger Games.
We follow Avery, who for some reason, gets to inherit a huge fortune. Her only condition? She must live in the house every other expectant heir has lived in their entire life for one year. She cannot travel, she cannot leave the state, she must remain living in the house.
This creates a LOT of tension because the number of people who were expecting a large portion of the inheritance claim the house as their own. Avery has to navigate her feelings for the four brothers, two mothers, and other characters throughout the novel.
The only reason this does not get a five star is because some chapters would end with a question or a huge statement and then the next chapter would start and Avery would not react. We KNOW Avery is a smart person, she would react with questions or even some internal analytics in response to these situations, but she doesn't. I could not get over it throughout the entire book. I am excited to pick up the rest of the series though!

THIS HAD EVERYTHING IN A BOOK FOR ME. I could not stop listening or thinking about this book. We follow Daunis Fontaine, who is half Ojibwe, half white, trying to navigate her final year of school without her uncle.
Daunis witnesses a terrible crime and gets swept into more than she could have bargained for. You have the thrills, you have the romance, you have heart-stopping moments that make you question what will happen next, and most importantly, you are learning about Ojibwe culture.
What was nice about the audiobook is that every word was pronounced and I felt like that allowed me to read the book faster without trying to look up the pronunciations on my own. When I read in my head, I like to get all the words right, but the audiobook helped me out a lot and made it very accessible.
I also love that the author pulled this scenario from her own experiences, it made it feel that much more real for a fiction book. I HIGHLY recommend adding this one to any reading list you have.

This was a very emotionally driven book. Julie has to handle the death of Sam, her long time boyfriend, while trying to maintain a 'normal' high school life.
Julie calls Sam one day and he happens to answer. They remain connected. But what does happen if we remain connected with the dead? How can we or the dead move on?
I wish this book established Julie and Sam's relationship a bit more in the beginning. I feel like you jumped right into the grief and not in a good way. I was confused and had no idea what was going on, having to re-listening to bits and pieces to make sure I didn't miss anything.
However, I still think after you get to know Julie and Sam, it is a beautiful story. The ending though? I feel like that was not how the book should have ended based on all the clues set before in the book. I also did not like how unclear some of the side plots were? I feel like this was trying to have more representation than it actually did? If it takes place in our modern day world, then there should be clearer explanations of certain side characters.
Overall, it was an okay read, but probably a better read if you are in the mood for an emotional book.

Another Jasmine Guillory book that I absolutely adored. I did read both The Wedding Date and The Proposal before this book.
We are following the main side characters from The Wedding Date: Maddie and Theo, who apparently hated each other? Maybe I missed that party in The Wedding Date, but I did not realize how deep the animosity ran until the beginning of this book, and I was very put off by their attitudes and the sudden flip that happens at the beginning of the book. It seemed the beginning of this book was thrown together, which I didn't enjoy.
But about the first ten minutes of that, I loved the rest of the book. The secrets, the emotions, the build-up, the pushing of boundaries they did around their friends: chef's kiss to ALL of it.
Once again, Jasmine Guillory sucks you into not only the main story, but the B plots of both of these characters. The ending is wrapped up nicely and I'm hopeful to see these characters again as I continue to read Jasmine Guillory books!

I am a Holly Jackson Fan. If you are not into thrillers/mysteries this is not going to be the book for you.
We are following six teens/mid-twenty folks as they take an RV down for spring break. Once the RV 'breaks down', the group realizes they are in for a deadly night. One of them has a secret, and they have to share it, or no one will survive.
Our main narrator is Red. To me, she's kind of an unreliable narrator following a similar style to 'We Were Liars' by E. Lockhart. I enjoyed how Red wasn't focused on the situation the entire time, I think it shows how much her past effects her and her current decisions making process.
I was suspicious of EVERY character, but Holly wrote enough clues in that I got confused, talked myself out of one of my theories, which ended up coming true! Usually I can stick by my initial thoughts, but she wove the tale so well I was twisted and shocked by the end.
An absolutely enjoyable read. I would check twigger warnings if you're just getting into thrillers/mysteries.

This is my second book from Jasmine and I am in LOVE with her writing style.
After a botched, not-communicated proposal, Nik finds herself alone at a Dodger's game she didn't want to go to in the first place. After the jumbotron disaster of a proposal, Nik finds herself alone, but a few rows back, Carlos and his sister Angie noticed new crews starting to walk towards Nik! Carlos and Angie quickly pretend to know Nik and save her from future new crews.
After this chance meeting, Nik and Carlos begin to form a very friendly relationship. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow.
The reason I am not giving this a full on five stars is because I felt the end was very abrupt and I wanted more backstory for both Carlos and Nik's thinking processes at the end of the book. However, the B-plots for both Nik and Carlos were highly engaging (I'm hoping to see some of their friends again in future Jasmine books) and I enjoyed the family aspect of Carlos's story.
Still a fantastic read, loved ALL of the characters EXCEPT one (I'm sure you can guess who) and can't wait to read more by Jasmine!
