This book was like a combination of [b:Beauty Queens|9464733|Beauty Queens|Libba Bray|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1289410187s/9464733.jpg|10808145] by Libba Bray and [b:The Knife of Never Letting Go|2118745|The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1)|Patrick Ness|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1277071696s/2118745.jpg|2124180] by Patrick Ness. Except I really like those two books and this one was just so lackluster in comparison. The cultural criticism felt so juvenile and Titus was just boring. Which is a shame since it had come highly recommended to me.

The only problem I had with this book were the sex scenes. I'm not sure if I can look at the word mount the same way again... Nonetheless I am so enamoured with this book. I can't wait to continue the series.

Also the HBO show is an insanely good adaption. I don't think they left anything out.

Cute and quick read, but the real gem comes from Hadley's relationship with her parents rather than the romance. Smith definite nailed the teen angst associated with divorced parents.

I read the first three chapters of this book when it first came out and the prose was so bland I put it down and never finished. But since writing a paper on female heroines in YA dystopia, I wanted to give a chance to some others. Frankly, after the horrible and disappointing world building of Crewel, I think Matched seemed better in comparison just because it was better paced and things were actually explained. Nevertheless, the prose was still really boring. I'll probably finish the trilogy in hopes they become more inspired.

Excellent. I love my villains humanized. She's still horribly evil but I love learning her backstory and motivations.
