If I ever see a hug referred to as a “recharging station” again, I’m quite literally going to kms. Tessa Bailey doesn’t get bullied nearly enough for that one.
*3.5
The hero was a straight up fucking stalker, but like in a hot way.

I genuinely haven’t read and marked fanfic on here in forever, but I loved this so much I can’t not mark it. This pairing works so well despite how odd it seems. I really enjoyed this, this might just get me back in my fanfic era.
RANT REVIEW AHEAD
Yeah so umm, that was a thing. What I want to understand is how is this a best selling book? Like actually? I feel bad giving this book 1 Star, but I don’t also? Even though I detest poetry, one of my friends read this and said, ”Abi you’re going to love this so much.” Obviously I need to evaluate my friends.
This was terrible. This entire collection of poetry wasn’t even poetry? It was just the author writing down thoughts and feelings in a weird order about things that happened in their life (without capitalization, because that’s an aesthetic now for some reason). And I mean, I feel heartless say this was bad because the authors talks about some pretty heavy topics like sexual assault/rape, alcoholic addiction, abusive parent, abusive relationships, and depression, but just because a book/poetry collection talks about heavy topics, doesn’t necessarily mean its good. I think that as a society we are pressured to believe something is good, or should be read/watched if a media has heavy topics in it. And I just don’t understand that. Anyways, I’m not going to go to deep in that, because that’s a topic for another time, but I just wanted to touch on that briefly.
Moving on, the writing wasn’t even...good? I have so many passages I tabbed that I’m going to quote for you that made me rethink my life choices. I’m happy for this author, they probably have gotten thousands from this and their other poetry collection for writing down thoughts. If I knew that was the only qualification to become an author, you best know that I would have already had 9 poetry collections published of just me saying ”This makes no sense or When am I going to use this?! or my personal favorite What the fuck? in my math notes. I could have got hundreds for that.
negative two multiplied by the base height of triangle b
= 189
what is the base height of triangle a?
- What the fuck???
Yeah that’s basically the poetry in here. Here are someawful examples in my opinion!
”the very thought of you
has my legs spread
like and easel with a canvas
just begging for art”
Just in my feelings from how fucking deep that was

I liked this significantly less than the last two, but it was still good nonetheless
This author is a teacher at a middle school. He’s been grooming children to buy his books and make them give his books 5 stars reviews on Amazon for an A+ as a grade. This is so wrong and disgusting.

Well, that was…something. The tone change from Name of the Rose to this was genuinely one of the weirdest things I’ve ever read. Natasha feels very ooc, and the plot is kind of stupid (if you ask me). The over sexualizing of all women characters just put me off as well. It doesn’t seem like Marjorie Liu is a writer on this addition, so it makes sense why this is so bad. Men writing women never goes well. Anyways, stan Name of the Rose.
I definitely liked this volume better than volume 1, but I still felt pretty ehh about this story overall. I honestly couldn’t tell you where this story is going at all. It doesn’t really have a clear plot, or story in mind. I genuinely couldn’t tell you what this story is about. Natasha is playing a mind game with a twisted web of secrets for the entirety of this volume, but towards what? What’s the end game, what’s the goal? The way I’m describing it seems like a mystery, but in reality, none of it makes much sense. I think my favorite part of the volume was the appearance of Laura Kinney (X-23) who is one of my favorite characters ever. Her and Nat’s dynamic and team up was highly interesting, and I really hope she appears more in the next volume.
As for everything else though, I didn’t really love much of this. The most redeeming factor about this story so far is the art. Besides that, nothing else made me fully want to continue this story. There’s even an issue of the Punisher in here where Nat appears for maybe 10 panels. So why was it in here? I really couldn’t tell you. So yeah, I just feel pretty ehh about this story so far. This is definitely going to be on my least recommended Black Widow arcs

This is one of my favorite Black Widow stories I’ve read, yet. I think this is the most badass I’ve ever seen Natasha written. She’s unapologetic, and blood thirsty in every issue of this and I couldn’t get enough. The plot also worked really well with Natasha’s character (she goes to Madripoor and takes down a child trafficking ring called No Restraints Play). Her actions and motives made some of the most sense I’ve ever seen, and she was so well written and in character. I also really got into this art style, and it really fit well with the overall story. No Restraints Play also helped repair Natasha’s character assassination after the fuckery that was Secret Empire, and gave her back her personality going onwards (something I think Tales of Suspense tried to do, but wasn’t the most successful with.)
I was so sad when this was over, I absolutely loved this so much. It’s funny too, I’ve been putting off reading this comic for a bit because I’ve been nervous that I wouldn’t enjoy it. But this is easily in my top 3 Black Widow stories ever.
